There and Back Again[edit]

Saw User:Alesain/Vanquisher and I thought "Wow, I could use this!" Thanks! I've been having trouble with a few areas and mostly given up on trying to get Vanquisher, but I think I just might try again after reading your tips. -- ab.er.rant sig 04:45, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

no problem. If you are having any trouble with any areas not listed, leave me a message and I'll try and give some tips.Alesain 12:21, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Checkmarks[edit]

I've updated the checkmarks to make them a little prettier, and took the liberty of updating your templates again ... hope that's OK. You might want to flag the old images for deletion (just add {{delete|images redundant/superseded|speedy}} to the text for the image).

Have you noticed the unlocks templates are starting to be picked up by other users? -- pullus Sig talk 13:15, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

No prob. I'll check it out. Alesain 15:48, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't quite notice the subtle difference, but I'll take your word for it. I also checked out AT's page and said hi. Alesain 15:53, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
I've lightened the green and included a shadow inside the black border to make it look a little round. I'm aiming to match them to LordBiro's profession icons and especially his Image:NA-icon.png. I might still rework the icon with a narrower black border to properly match it, but I can do that now without messing with the templates.-- pullus Sig talk 16:39, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
The checkmarks project has expanded to the {{yes}} and {{no}} templates, and my checkmarks are now being used in those ... I'll leave it up to you whether you want to update your templates too. {{yes}} always gives a green tick, {{no}} gives a white cross by default but can be changed to give a red cross or white tick with the appropriate variables. I still like the white tick, but I'll leave it up to you to chose. -- pullus Sig talk 12:13, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I'll adjust the templates when I can figure it out. I'd like to make it more user friendly than having to put {{template|no|yes|no|yes|no|yes]]. So once I figure out how to make the template handle a conditional argument, I'll adjust them. Good job btw! -- Flask of Firewater.png Ale 16:26, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
you mean stick with 1|0|1|0? ... or are you planning something different altogether? -- pullus Sig talk 20:31, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
that or at the very least y|n|y|n -- Flask of Firewater.png Ale 22:15, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
I've done it with 1's and 0's (or in fact 1's and anything that's not a 1), but we could make it anything we wanted the way it's set up now. btw I found http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:ParserFunctions which was useful and could definitely be again. -- pullus Sig talk 23:06, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Sig[edit]

Unlock Templates Project[edit]

Ok, Pullus wants to make it so you can choose between the new tango icons and the old ones. I prefer the old ones, and I suppose he likes the new. I guess, if you pull my arm hard enough, we could just make it the tango icons only, but I'm still not too keen on those yet. Anyway, I'm all for making a flag for either.

Something I do want to do, will make the templates a bit more user friendly, but take up a bit more space in the edit space. I think it might be easier to edit/update without having to figure out which flag is for what. I envision something like this:

{{UAX_hero
 | tango = y
 | Norgu = y
 | Goren = n
 | ..
 |}

I added tango for the icon flag, but as you can see, going thru all 25 heroes or all 19 weapon mods will take up some space, but it would be easier to update, I think. Also, I'm thinking about consolidating all of the unlocks into one UAX template. The downside to this is it would be a huge template. What say you? -- Alesain 02:19, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

I think it's nice for people to be able to chose which sets of unlocks they want to display ... if we merge them into one, it's all or none (unless we make the template even more complicated). -- pullus Sig talk 08:57, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Also just occurred to me that the profession icon templates are due to be updated with a switch to chose the old and new icons ... don't know if you want to wait for that, or go for it directly just using the images themselves. -- pullus Sig talk 09:07, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Ah, sweet. I'll wait, less leg-work on my part and just work on making it more like the codebox above. I'll leave them separate, as you make a good point on which to show. -- Alesain 16:11, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Ah dammit! ... I'd forgotten we'd talked about this here and put in an option to use the new icons ... I didn't use the templates at all in the end because then you can't put in a tooltip with the hero's name. I also added an option to put "2" for the hero with upgraded armour ... the template is a little unwieldy now though ... you can probably think of a more intelligent way of doing it than I've done. -- pullus Sig talk 00:48, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Neat! No worries. I haven't played with the template at all. Was waiting for that icon change thing. I'll take a look at it. -- Alesain 04:49, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
