Userpage

Hi, could pls take a look at GWW:USER, your userpage is too long and contains a lot of not-allowed stuff ~ KurdKurdsig.png11:03, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

Sort key

I don't think we need to add defaultsort keys that are the same as the article name -- that's what the default defaultsort key already is. It's only useful to specify when we want something other than the article name (like "Charge!" -> Charge!, sidestepping the quote marks). --Rezyk 04:48, 3 April 2007 (EDT)

  • Thanks for the info, wasn't sure about the use of the defaultsort. Now I am :) ~Arduinna 04:55, 3 April 2007 (EDT)

The Welcome

Ah, well thank you for welcoming me to the official Guild Wars Wiki website in such a warm way.

Mini's :D

Hi, I hope you don't mind but i made my own miniatures page here using your "Big list 'o mini's" to help me. :) Sorry I completely forgot to ask for permission before making it (how rude of me). I just thought i would ask of your permision now as it is only polite. I will happily take it down if you don't want me to use it. thanks :) --Alien User Alien Sig.png 14:38, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

thanks alot! I really appreciate it! :) It's one of the nicest and most organized miniature tables ive seen lurking around on the wiki. :) --Alien User Alien Sig.png 13:19, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Guild Wars Update

Yeah hi...a long long very long time ago you gave me a welcome to Guild Wars Offical Wiki...

I'm asking for your help again, because uh... thing is I haven't played Guild Wars since GW:EN came out, mainly because of some people I didn't like in my Guild, and I didn't want to be behind since my parents didn't buy me GW:EN and I still don't have it.

Other then spells, I would just like to know what updates are up in Guild Wars (not update notes) just in general.

Oh right, hi, sorry. I thought it to not be that useful since you most likely don't remember me, but you were very friendly when I first joined. You were the one (2/3) of the admins that kept closing my Wiki pages because it had to be on the User Page, not on a regular page lol.

Thanks for notifying me about the game updates. I want those mission packs too. :( Unfortunately during that time my computer just...died. And then I wasn't able to get it up, still isn't up and therefore I was like "alright let's get back on the road of life." Anywas, I am Than 00:31, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Gaile's talk page

Please do not edit out of date versions of talk pages, as it removes other people's comments, which is messy to clean up if it goes unnoticed for a while, and could be construed as vandalism. -- Gordon Ecker 12:29, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Righto, wasn't aware of that talk page being out of date Arduinna talk 13:37, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Inventory icons project

Using Texmod is a great idea, i made all with GwDatBrowser until yet. I already searched for a solution in Guide to modifying in-game graphics, but couldn't find one. As your extracts look quite clear, and as you proposed this strategy in the project talk, i'll ask you: When extracting the icons, i always get a black border instead of a transperent one. (Also when saving them as .dds files. (Already downloaded a plugin and opened them with photoshop, but those files had a black border as well)) When trying to replace the black border with a transperent one again, the image looks fuzzy. Could you possibly help me out, please? —ZerphatalkThe Improver 22:24, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

I noticed you'll get an entirely black background when extracting the icons to a .bmp using Texmod. So now I extract them to to a .tga file. After that I open each file with Paint.net[1], and save them to a .png file. I suppose any program will do the same. After that it's just uploading to the wiki. It works good enough for me :) --Arduinna talk 08:36, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Great, the .tga file works. The guide said dds would also use an "alpha channel" (which seemingly has something to do with saving a file exactly as it can be seen). However, i'm now able to save them reasonable-looking, thanks you :) —ZerphatalkThe Improver 11:03, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Inventory icons box

btw, i noticed that you have a little coding issue on your user page. I'm not really good at coding, but i know enough basics for this tip: when using curly braces ( {{ }} ), the page automatically put the information of this page on the corresponding place where it's used in the other one. So you don't need to copy-paste the entire code, you may instead only paste the pagename in braces on the wanted place. (In this case {{Guild Wars Wiki:Projects/Inventory icons/userbox}} ). You may also copy-paste the entire code instead for sure, then there is no need for braces. The diffrence is that this way it's independent from changes from the page you copy-pasted it (as if you use it as a template, as i said, it shows the according page as it currently is). But even in this case, you do not have to copy-paste it. If you add the word "subst:" before the pagename in the braces (for example: {{subst:Guild Wars Wiki:Projects/Inventory icons/userbox}} ), when saving your page, "subst:" will cause to write down the entire text of the page instead which is then sort of equal to a copy-paste of the page.
I know, i suck in explaining. Hope you catched my babble :P —ZerphatalkThe Improver 23:03, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

I have to admit I'm not that familiar with wiki-coding, but adding the box just using {{Guild Wars Wiki:Projects/Inventory icons/userbox}} makes the box jump over to the right. Adding the brackets made him end up below the rest of the boxes, and I was in the process if figuring out how to properly code it. I suppose it has something to do with the general make-up of my page. Thanks for the help! --Arduinna talk 08:47, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
np. (strange, now you are using {{Guild Wars Wiki:Projects/Inventory icons/userbox}}, and i don't see anything jumping over the right.) —ZerphatalkThe Improver 11:08, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
