Weapon Mods Checklist[edit]

Hey, just wanna say that I also made a Weapon Mod/Upgrade Components Checklist, u can choose colors, if you want anything else to be customizable like fontsize, bordertype, etc... let me know and i'll see what I can do.

I might make a checklist for runes and insignia, this one might take a while. --Qaletaqa Hania talk 12:01, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Character info.[edit]

Hey there fella. I was just checking out your Characters and noticed that your "Twelve Souls" page is that same as your "Mhyx the Vulnerable" page. The link sends people to your "User:Twelve Souls/Twelve Souls" page which is the page with the same info as the "User:Blue Clouded/Mhyx the Vulnerable" page. You may want create a "User:Blue Clouded/Twelve Souls" and put his info there instead of (or as well as) fixing the "User:Twelve Souls/Twelve Souls" page.

On another note, I see you got a Rainbow Phoenix (and nearly all the other pets), nice going man! User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg Titan Crow 22:02, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! Yes, I just got People Know Me. ^.^
On the subject about the Twelve Souls character, he no longer exists, but I haven't found the time to remove him from the list. Thanks for pointing that out. :) Blue Clouded 22:43, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Skill histories[edit]

Thank you so much for creating the various skill history pages. It's a lot of work (I got bored with it after 20 or so skills).

Could you check out Functionality, which describes the difference between a function change and an ordinary skill change (roughly, if it's just number tweaking, it's not a function change). I'm pretty sure I caught all the skill histories up until you started your current project; I think I've covered most of your recent changes, too. (Perhaps you could double-check my work.)

Thanks!  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:29, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the message! I'm not sure what you're asking though - as far as my research has shown, new functionalities have been documented (usually verbatim from old Game Updates on GWW). Could you point me to an example where something was misconstrued? I've been somewhat guessing with the format, but the problem with the Skill histories, is that the layout can vary. Blue Clouded 18:34, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Oh, I see. It's not a problem with skill histories themselves, as it is the way I'm linking them. The problem with my computer is that it's not great with selecting specific areas on webpages, so I've been using the same message for each reference. Thanks for letting me know - I'll adjust that so it more accurately reflects the history. :) Blue Clouded 18:37, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Awesome! And again, you're doing good work (this is really a minor point that I mainly bring up b/c I've been pinged a lot about it by others...so clearly, it's important to the community).
The variations include:
 • Skill revision histories
* This skill has changed since its introduction; see its skill revision history for details.
* The functionality of this skill has changed since its introduction; see its skill revision history for details.
 • Split skill revision histories
* This skill has changed since its introduction; see its PvE and PvP skill histories for details.
 — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:41, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Alright, thank you! I've been labelling things just like that, minus the "this skill has changed" line. I've also been using the latter (See the PvE and PvP), adjusted to only list the PvE log whenever the PvP skill hadn't been adjusted (save the split). I'm not sure if that's standard, but I thought it would work just the same.
And if others are also concerned about what I'm doing, they can also come onto my talk page as well - I don't bite. :) Blue Clouded 18:44, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
I spot checked the most recent edits: perfect! Thanks!  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:59, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Very welcome. :) Blue Clouded 21:34, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Snippets and anomalies[edit]

(Reset indent) I've added the snippets to the project page, for use by others. Feel free to update/change/add as you feel appropriate (esp. since you seem to be doing the bulk of the work.)  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:03, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

It looks fantastic - nice work! There are a few anomalies I've encountered so far, which aren't mentioned anywhere, so I have no idea how to deal with them, and am simply trying to muddle through it with the research I've gathered. They include:

1) Skills which split into PvE versions, where the PvP version hasn't evolved since the split. (This could be resolved with re-wording of trivia notes.)
2) Skills where research cannot pinpoint direct facts, and thus leaves some aspects up to speculation. (This could be resolved with a new template, below the main Skill history template.)

I will be checking over what has been submitted since I began work on this project and work to keep a uniform style (there are large and small anomalies I've spotted between works I've done in accordance to the template, and previously-submitted work). Thank you very much for sort of helping me through this project, and I hope that one day we can finish it. Blue Clouded 00:15, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
 • I think it's fair to consider any splitting/merging as a function change (even if nothing else changes, the mechanics of skill use are affected), but I recognize that others might disagree. One reason I like this: it reduces the necessity to compare pve/pvp changes rigorously. Alternatively, the phrasing could be changed to this skill used to be split/this skill was split and combining with the other snippets, as appropriate.
 • I can't think of any reason why we couldn't figure out the facts; if we don't have a long enough history on GWW, [http:guildwiki.org Guild Wiki] will have the complete history; it's just a matter of painstaking review of the article history. (FYI GWiki uses a skill template to partially protect the skill article; that's where to look for the historical changes to the skill.)
 • When in doubt, the language, this skill has changed is suitable. If we don't have all the details, we can {tl|stub|missing changes}}. At worst, the skill history article could have the current skill and we can backfill later.
 • Feel free to make a command decision about how to handle any of it...and document the project page so that others of us can follow your lead.
Finally, it's a huge project; I doubt any of us would manage to finish the whole thing. Don't beat yourself up if you get tired of the grind. You've already done an impressive amount of work. Thanks again.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:39, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
One of the skills I was stumped about was the original function of Storm's Embrace. GWW didn't have that history, one source listed 50%, and another listed 25%. There was no clear majority, so I listed it as 25%, due to the over powered-sounding nature of 50%.
And chances are, it won't get finished. I can probably fill two professions of my own time at the very most, but I will continue to work. In a way, having little to no people working on it makes it much easier to work on. Blue Clouded 00:45, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Storm's Embrace doesn't look like it changed at all since introduction, at least, not according to Guild Wiki's skill history (the only differences are formatting/presentation as far as I can tell).
Another way to go is to ask others to assist. Some contributors have been around for near-enough to six years and might remember details that aren't covered in either wiki. (Or, they might remember why GWiki or GWW changed this or that.) And, of course, I'm happier to take a look at whatever if asked (I might have reached my limit on the project for now, but the occasional one-skill is a nice distraction from other projects).  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:52, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
What other projects are you currently working on? Maybe I can lend a hand once I get further into the Skill history project. Blue Clouded 00:54, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Mainly, I look for articles that are chock-full of info but hard to read. Articles in need of review. Unfortunately, that's more a solitary exercise (although I do appreciate it when people clean-up the typos and misleading statements left over by copy/paste issues or my own inattention to detail).
The other things I'm looking at (also linked, mostly, from that page) are formatting or presentation inconsistencies, e.g. we collect VQ data (min/max/avg) on the Vanquisher article and also on every explorable page (that goes double for WiK)...which leads to out-of-synch data or verification trouble. Similarly, we present Light of Deldrimor treasures differently on various pages. And we have Dungeons and Dungeon quest articles, which are difficult to keep in synch. And, most recently, I've started looking at how we present replication info (for unique weapons). It looks like a mess to me, so I'm trying to come up with a template that presents the info consistently.
Anyhow, none of those fall into the lend a hand stage (if they ever will). I'll keep an eye out for something that would be more collaborative and let you know (in case it's of interest or a nice break from skill histories).  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:05, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Alright, thank you very much! I will make sure to call you back if I have more questions! Blue Clouded 01:08, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

Regarding this rollback[edit]

If you'll take a look at many (if not all) of the other everlasting, and regular tonics, you'll see that none of them use that formatting style - and none of them use an "in-game" description, but rather a simple description. The reason that I changed this was to prevent having to change every other tonic page for the sake of consistency. If you'd like, you're more than welcome to do it yourself. User Ryuu R.jpgRyuu - lol wiki 23:29, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

The reason I reverted your edit, is because Transmogrifier Tonics do not turn you into Spiders. Blue Clouded 23:32, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
If you decide to make a general description, then I whole-heartedly welcome it. But I know for a fact that the tonic doesn't turn you into a Spider. Blue Clouded 23:34, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
That was obviously a copy/paste issue. The simple solution would've been to modify the wording, rather than pressing a button. But regardless, thank you for finding this. I usually do check, but apparently I didn't. User Ryuu R.jpgRyuu - lol wiki 23:37, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Functionality (minor note)[edit]

I've started using functionality (instead of functionality), since we do have an article that explains it. (Even more minor note: I put a space between the * (asterisk) and the beginning of the line; it is completely optional (wiki displays it the same), but I find it makes it easier for others that are editing later on...including myself)Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 23:58, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

I've been linking the functionality article in my trivia messages from this point on. Thank you for the heads up! Blue Clouded 04:37, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Skill History[edit]

Please read Guild_Wars_Wiki_talk:Projects/Skill_history#Adding_links_on_primary_skill_pages please. Thank you. Kaisha User Kaisha Sig.png 03:03, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

There currently isn't a spot to link skill history in the current skill infobox, if I'm not mistaken. If you would like to modify a spot in the template reserved for skill history, please feel free to add it and leave me a follow-up message. And as for what you linked for me, I would have to agree with Wyn - the trivia can be moved to the skill infobox once the project is closer to completion, unless you'd like to do that for me. Blue Clouded 03:09, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Actually, there is. Hence for some of the skills that were done - were no longer linked to the main page. It was discussed in a few areas. I can't find them all, but it's in my archive and I believe discussed on other pages, besides the talk page. I'd have to look through my contributes of back during that time to find it all. I just know that it was agreed upon not to post on the actual skills pages, but to do the histories. Until all histories were done, to then activate in the infobox via poke. I'll find the links when I can and post/send them to you if you want. I gave up to finish the armor pages that's in my sandbox (that I hope to transfer to actual pages), then to do the Elemental skill histories. The information of which I gave is all that I had gathered and learned. Kaisha User Kaisha Sig.png 05:26, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
The project has operated in fits and starts. I think the most important thing is creating the /history pages. The links and/or info box changes are almost incidental at the moment. Once there are skill history pages for all skills, a bot can easily fix whatever needs fixing. So, I think what blue clouded is doing is great. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 05:34, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
I agree, but I just think adding to the main pages that a bot will have to do eventually is not necessary and can wait until all skills are done. Kaisha User Kaisha Sig.png 06:09, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Ah, found it here. User_talk:Kaisha/Archive/Feb2010#.28not.29_Trivia hope that helps. Not sure if it should be redirected to the skill history talk or not. Anyway, hope it won't derive you to just stop, but gives you a better idea. Kaisha User Kaisha Sig.png 07:21, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
I think Blue Clouded should keep on keeping on; that discussion was over a year ago...and even then, ppls didn't agree. Generally, we have relegated to Trivia any historical changes, b/c the notes cover things about the current game. The info box is a more complicated situation and isn't clear enough to determine the proper adjustment, → it doesn't make sense to stop the project to figure it out.
On the other hand, it's useful to have the discussion so that people don't have to revisit the same issues. Kaisha: mebbe you can link it from the project talk page? (You were ahead of me!) (Plus mebbe this one and the couple on my talk; a lot of stuff got discussed relevant to the project.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 09:33, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for that heads up Kaisha. Can you point me in the direction of where a skill history is in the infobox? If it looks better in the infobox, then I'd fully agree with moving them to the infobox. But like Tennessee said, it's more important to get the actual meat and potatoes first. Blue Clouded 13:00, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Actually, look at skill animation for an example. It should give an idea as to how the skill history will be done. Most already done agreed for it to not be on the skill pages, until the skill histories are mostly done. I gave link to both my talk and the talk on the template in the skill history project. I will revert the skill histories from the skill pages, until it's all done due to the consensus that was made and has not been contested. Kaisha User Kaisha Sig.png 17:32, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Actually, there was no consensus; people argued all over the place without coming to a conclusion. Blue Clouded is creating the skill history page before creating the link from the skill page. (There's little point to having orphaned skill history pages.) Please stop reverting until there's a well-established current consensus that Blue Clouded's work is doing actual harm to the wiki. Thanks. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:38, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) This might help you out, Blue. It was given to me on my talk from Wyn, when I tried my attempts at the skill histories. [1] Kaisha User Kaisha Sig.png 07:01, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

That link is already noted on the main Project page, but thank you. Blue Clouded 15:51, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
