You got to have a section header, right?[edit]

Hello Dragon nataku, I love reading your comments in the questions section. I hope Dunkoro got these spear scars stitched up properly now. (mendel 84.128.223.171 07:21, 27 May 2008 (UTC))

Well, actually... he didn't. Although I do now have a nifty tattoo on my back courtesy of Drunky, I mean, Dunkoro. I think he got into the Vabbian wine last time we were in Vabbi... hey, they don't call him Drunky the Drunk Monk for nothin, ya know... I just hope it is, in fact, a dragon that he tattoo'd on my back like he said, and not something... odd... --Dragon nataku 18:21, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

I can't believe that of Dunkoro! He's always so levelheaded and friendly. Let me see your back! Oh! .... erm .... yeah, that's totally a dragon, good job there (cough), listen, I have to go and bless my horn or something, you take care, ok? (mendel 84.128.194.152 16:52, 29 May 2008 (UTC))

Effect Directions[edit]

Hey, about things always facing certain directions:

  • The big dragon emblem for Inferno that appears around you always has the head facing south and does not rotate.
  • I haven't been focused enough to tell which, but it looks like the little profession-specific hex/enchantment floaters that swirl around with your enchantment/hex swimming ring always fade in and out such that they're 0% visible when they cross one or the other cardinals.
  • There's proabably others. Lava Font's effect proably always goes out NESW or on diagonal lines, for example, and reversal of fortune probably always starts/stops spinning in the same direction (if it's not symmetrical, can't remember). But I haven't noticed them. :).

qwa? Reaaaaaally??? ^*____*^!! A mystery is afoot! Or perhaps it is more of a claw... (you did that joke already) Oh... well, damn. Maybe the Anet skill animators are all OCD? Must... wash hands 50,000 times...! Must... make things face in NSEW directions...! --Dragon nataku 00:52, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
It's more likely to be a matter of copy & paste. Laziness can explain a lot. But then maybe the direction of the swirl tells us whether we're on the northern or southern hemisphere of the GW planet? (mendel 84.128.193.225 01:47, 3 June 2008 (UTC))
Actually, it's probably more an issue of their SpawnEmitterAt(SomePoint) doesn't take into consideration the orientation of the spawning object, and their SpawnAttachedEmitterTo(SomeObject) doesn't latch said vector and copy the rotation frame by frame. Makes things a little simpler, maybe a significant preformance impact when you have a lot of emitters going off. (World positioning has to be done by the CPU, too.)
Also, if they changed it now for all anyone knows there's some objects emitting stuff somewhere with their Z pointing into the ground at an angle and it would just get all screwed up :D.
Um, The mystery is more what the heck is the green stuff in these claws.
--Star Weaver 01:55, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Obviously, that is chitin. You know, the stuff raptor exoskeletons are made out of? It's green cause raptors eat plants, which are green because they contain chlorophyll. Duh. (... you're confusing dinosaurs and insects again) ... what? Oh. Oh, well, that's different then. (...) Perhaps... the meat they ate had rotted? Perhaps due to gangrene? Thus, green! Otherwise, it raided a cave of sorts filled with emeralds and then incorporated it into its attire. Via a rather skillful raptor jewelor... jeweler... jewelry-maker-type person-raptor thingy... --Dragon nataku 03:03, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Green, bilious poison; dried out, probably. It's a clichee: poison is always green. Hmm, how I love peppermint syrup.

Whirled Peas[edit]

I asked the wiki for "chipset" articles, simple as that. I'll consider marriage, but only if my wife dies. A natural death, I might add, so keep those ninjas at bay. I've been looking through your website, did you write the Guildwars walkthough before you found the wiki? (mendel 84.128.193.225 01:47, 3 June 2008 (UTC))

My website in general is an embarrassment to anyone who knows anything about HTML. But I am rather proud of my walkthroughs. And yes, I started the GWs walkthrough before I discovered the wiki. Which is probably why I never bothered to finish it. :op Sometimes I think about starting it up again (I have a whole separate account that I use to make sure every aspect of the game gets included (i.e., what changes when you're a warrior/ele/mesmer/whatever)), but I haven't really done much on there in about a year or two. FOR SHAME! Also, the fact that there are now four different incarnations of GuildWars is a bit daunting. Also also, it is oodles more difficult to write a walkthrough for an MMO than a game where one person is controlling the entire party. Also also also, I control no ninja. You'll have to speak to my computer about that, although I think my computer's ninja are currently hunting Dominator Matrix down, hence why we haven't heard from him in awhile. I told him not to open any doors, but nobody ever listens to me. --Dragon nataku 01:55, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Maybe you'd like to become a roving investigator for GuildWiki. I've taken to editing the wiki in the past weeks, but I'm slightly handicapped by the fact that I'm at most halfway through any of the campaigns. And there is some information that is quite hard to get, it appears. For example:
  • Perlo is a crew member of the Halcyon. We don't know his profession (though Halcyon lists it as Ranger) or why he is level 10 (at least I don't) when the others are listed as 20s. He could be the crew's missing Necromancer, but then maybe Luxon ship crews don't have Necros, or the Halcyon's Necro was sick that day. Does Perlo fight at all? If so, does he use any skills that indicate his profession? If he does not fight, what is his role?
  • The Infernal Siege Wurm is a mythical creature. It is reputed to reside in the Catacombs of Kathandrax (GW), but there are no pictures, and no-one knows what class it is. If you compare the two articles on the Catacombs, you'll notice that they disagree on which creature is a true boss and which is a mere boss-like foe. Is "Worm Siege" the only skill it has?
Time to start CSI:Tyria! (mendel 84.128.193.225 03:24, 3 June 2008 (UTC))
Perlo is obviously one of those people who got run through Zen Daijun, then got run all the way down to Cavalon through the back door that some people use but that takes too long to explain so I never paid attention long enough to find out the details of the route. That is why he is lv 10. And he doesn't fight cause he's going for survivor title, duh. He's just down there to cap from Geoffer. And possibly that dude with the really long name. Also, you can't tell what profession he actually is cause his character was created during the GuildWars alpha testing, and therefore it is a secret. This also explains how he can be a PC and not have a last name.
In regards to the Wurm of DOOM... I would tell you all about him, but I have been sworn to secrecy by Ilsundur Boss Man of Kathandrax himself for discovering his true name. The penalty for speaking of such things is a fate worse than death, often involving things like swimming naked through shards of glass and possibly having my blood replaced with acid.
Also... CSI: Tyria? Wheee... then I can finally prove to the world how I am smarter than both Gil "I'm a Genius But Don't Know the Difference Between a Femur and a Tibia" Grissom and Horatio "I Wear ALL BLACK in MIAMI Because I'm t3h smrt!" Caine, combined. --Dragon nataku 04:49, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I've been wondering why you haven't started your own webcomic yet. You know comics/Manga, you like webcomics, you like to draw, you like to get better at it, you already draw reasonably well (proof, btw, if you convert your scanned drawing to black and white first (no dithering) you lose the white edges of the outlines, but you've probably learned this in the two years since you drew that), you have lots of humor and weird ideas, you like writing short storylines - and I'd really love to see CSI: Tyria as a webcomic. What I don't know is whether you have the essential ingredient for a lasting webcomic: too much spare time and enough money to eat. And you probably have an interesting way to decline this suggestion. 84.128.193.225 08:28, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, the actual answer to that is because I already have one. The fact that it died on page one several years ago is completely and utterly besides the point. It died because I discovered that there is a huge difference between copy-art (i.e., looking at a picture and drawing it exactly, minus tracing paper) and original art. One might look at some of these (and some of the ones I never bothered to post on that page) and think otherwise, but that brings us to our (read: my) next problem: I can't seem to make my characters look like themselves (as opposed to completely different people) in different drawings of them. And then there's also the problem that I can't draw movement to save my life.
Oh, and lastly, there's the fact that I lost all of my creativity for writing a rather long time ago (Nov. of 2004 to be exact) and now cannot write a piece of fiction even if my life depended on it, especially not one that would span into a webcomic of any length. This wouldn't be so much of a problem since I "still have" my notes for the comic that I made a bazillion years ago. But half of those notes seem to have gone AWOL, and the other half got rained on because my satchel is sadly not waterproof and I am an idiot. CURSE YOU, FLORIDA WEATHER!! WHY HATH YE GODS FORSAKEN ME SO?? --Dragon nataku 17:29, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
"...although I think my computer's ninja are currently hunting Dominator Matrix down, hence why we haven't heard from him in awhile. I told him not to open any doors, but nobody ever listens to me" Err...Ok? Dominator Matrix 06:38, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Signature[edit]

Do you by chance have the "Raw signatures (without automatic link)" check boxed checked or unchecked in your preferences? — Eloc 21:58, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

I think I did that yesterday on accident. I changed it a couple of hours ago though. I think I was gonna try to make a decent signature and I read somewhere that I had to check that box for some reason, then didn't actually make a sig. Didn't think it would do anything though if I didn't have anything typed in the box above it. Should I edit the comments I've made since then so they link again? Sorry for the inconvenience. --Dragon nataku 23:13, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
