Is this really the best format? generally there are less overpowered skills than there are categories on this page and it's irritating to have to click on every profession. I'd rather just see a PvP and PvE category. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:210.9.137.97 .

Have you looked through the lists? this page was over 10 times the reccomended maximum size and ie users couldnt even load it for a while...--Midnight08 18:23, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
I think the problem is IE then? =P --68.111.79.166 18:26, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
No, but a big file (> 500KB) takes some time to load and even more time to edit.. poke | talk 18:27, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
"generally there are less overpowered skills than there are categories on this page" - This is simply untrue. See for yourself. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 18:51, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
No what I mean is there are less overpowered skills in the game than there are categories. Not that the newbies that come on to wiki think that a million skills are overpowered. 500kb...if you can't load that then gl playing gw. Anyway my suggestion is just to have 3 categories in PvP/PvE/General Gameplay.
But since there's no objective "this is overpowered" indicator, any discussion as to whether a skill is overpowered or not is valid, and thus, there are plenty of individual skill discussions, far more than 9 categories. (And even of the skills that are truly overpowered, there are quite often more than 9 - a couple might be in the spotlight at any given time, but there are more than 9 out of 1000 that are.)
A question: how does it hurt to have things more categorized? It's not as if it's a deeper tree structure - under your proposed categories you'd still have to dig down just as many layers. Also, it's not a question of loading 500kb - it's a question of uploading it. If you edit the page, you upload the source back to the wiki when you save it. If the source is 500k, you're uploading 500kb every time you save the page.
Finally, there's the matter of consistency - User talk:Isaiah Cartwright/Underpowered Skills certainly has more qualifying discussions than the 9 profession categories, and thus in the interest of being consistent, it's best to keep both pages categorized as they are. Can you name 9 overpowered skills? It helps because you can just click Overpowered skills -> PvP instead of Overpowered Skills -> Asssassin "back" -> Ritualist "back" etc... People who don't know what they're talking about that suggest tons of skills are overpowered (which makes the page big which is apparently a problem) should just be banned from the wiki before the remaining PvPers stop bothering to read this section and go straight to Izzy via msn etc.. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:210.9.137.97 .
"Banning" people from the wiki because they want to discuss something on a talk page is a rather absurd suggestion. --Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 15:17, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Absurd? No, he's right. Unless there's some quality filtering it's just a matter of time before the place downgrades to another GWO where 1 PvPer will explain why Mending is bad and 200 PvErs will jump on him and tell him he's wrong.Servant of Kali 23:16, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Elitists... You shouldn't ban someone cause they have their own opinions. You ban someone because of the way they present their opinions. Acting stupid or not taking others adivice while degrading anyone who disagrees with you should get a ban, not just being wrong. ‽-(eronth) I give up 23:31, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

This is true. The update discussion is much nicer to browse as it has the same format as overpowered skills used to have. The pvp and pve sections sounds good, there wont be large debate between pvpers and pvers over skills. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:166.70.99.91 .
Guys- they're in categories. They're organized. You can click a few more times, its not going to kill you. I agree that a lot of these skills in fact aren't overpowered, but they need to be arranged neatly. -elviondale (tahlk) 12:12, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
They can be organized in categories in the same way as they are in the skill update area. The difference is instead of having to load 9 different pages you only have to load 1. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:210.9.137.97 .
You're still not quite getting it. Skill updates are at the most 10KB and merely mention what has changed about a skill- usually a sentence or two. This is 1/2 a megabyte of people arguing over skills. How would you like to go to a school where every single subject is taught in one class from 7-2 every day? Wouldn't it be much better organized if it were separate classes with their own timeslot? Seriously though, this argument is becoming a bit old and stale- moving on... -elviondale (tahlk) 16:44, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User_talk:Isaiah_Cartwright/Update20070809 is the format i think is better. Your argument is "organized" > functionality. I would prefer if my class at school was "overpowered skills" and there were 2-3 actual overpowered skills if they were all on the same page. Skill balance discussion has moved from the overpowered skill page anyway to the update area anyway so I don't care about this anymore. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:210.9.137.97 .
"WARNING: This page is 123 kilobytes long; some browsers may have problems editing pages approaching or longer than 32kb. Please consider breaking the page into smaller sections." - And that just for a single update's skills. "Functionality" is debatable - there are many who would rather not have to load the full page if all they're interested in is the warrior skills, per say. If you really want to read them all at once, however, there's a way you could do such: make a page in userspace, and transclude each of the pages into it. For an example, see User:Aiiane/IzzyOverpowered. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 02:11, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

95% of the skills people post here are not overpowered at all, while the vast majority of skills in the underpowered skills section are indeed underpowered, wtf is going on here ? 87.189.255.181 11:56, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
