Hey! This looks great! Thulsey 12:42, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Ooo, nice with the transparent logotypes! Thanks a bunch!--Lensor 14:33, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
you're very welcome. The table actually expands and contracts when you resize the window (it's set to 'auto' width, I believe) so the logo disappears if you window gets too tiny. It's a fixed position, since it's in the background, unfortunately. On my page it is a fixed width, and I haven't figured out why... You might want to check it on all the different professions, because the logos are a different size. That's why I didn't really set it all the way in the corner. Thulsey 14:43, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
It looks great, thanks! I dont think it will be a problem with dissapearing logos, even my mules have them showing OK. I put the tables in the general User template category, for people to use as they wish. --Lensor 15:15, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

All well and good but..[edit]

You need to add Mesmer to the profession short part. DBZVelena | (Talk page) User DBZVelena sig.jpg 14:38, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

never mind, i figured it out. (Go me!) I'm using your template for my characters individual pages. DBZVelena | (Talk page) User DBZVelena sig.jpg 14:42, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Great, thanks! It worked with the mesmer short name, I just forgot to add it in the template filling help *slaps self at wrist* :)--Lensor 09:54, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Border width[edit]

I have decreased the border width as I think it looks better this way. However, if people want the old border width back I would be willing to revert.--Lensor (talk) 09:06, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Can you make a seperate one with the origianl width? If you look at User:Izkoas/v_bio_v it needs to be a tad wider. On my screen it does at least. Think you could help?
It looks good to me, the width of the character table border is the same as the width of the tabs borders. However, I made the right hand border of the "tabs" on my User page a little wider (I thought it looked better that way, to give a 3D "feel"), maybe that is what you mean? --Lensor (talk) 09:09, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Could be just me, I'll play around with it a bit.Izkoas 15:20, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

This looks great :D[edit]

Ooh, I've been looking for a nice layout to use for my characters, this looks great! :D Melliechick 22:38, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks :) Always happy to hear that someone find the template useful. --Lensor (talk) 10:08, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. Very nicely made, almost exactly what I had in mind for my own templates. The only problem I've found with them so far is some of the background icons (I noticed with Mesmer first) get cut off due to the -2em shift (I think -1em might solve it without having to drop the offset altogether). Still, worth overlooking until I come up with something of my own. Cheers! :-) Mesti 16:25, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
thank's loads! this is perfect, i have no clue about wiki code... Zyko Wolfven 17:03, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

char[edit]

why does everyone seem to have a version of this for themselves? o.O or who 'invented' it originally? - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 20:06, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Why people use it, you will have to ask them about. But as to your question, I "invented" this template, with technical help from Thulsey (he made the "floating" logotype backgrounds). This template is of course quite "simple", so many users have added in extra nifty features, and as mentioned, that is perfectly all right. I am just happy that some people find the template of use to them. To use as is, or to change as wanted. --Lensor (talk) 15:56, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
yeah... i just always get startled when i look at Cat:User tmplts and see hundreds of "Character tables" everywhere and whatever i click it will be this... lol ^^ - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 16:28, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
I used it because I couldn't use the template I used over on GuildWiki as they don't support NavFrame here so no Show/Hide stuff. I found this template after getting a comment on my talk page about a comment I made on Gaile's talk page. The person who commented on my talk page was using the template so I decided to run with it. I didn't like the look completely so I created my own version. That's why I have a version for myself. Oh and mine is simply named "Character" not "Character tables" and it also looks quite a bit different. I imagine some users simply create their own copy so they have control over it and don't have to worry about the owner making changes without them knowing it.--Thor79User-thor79.pngTalk 05:39, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Yup thats what i did! and Thor i stand by my comment,COOL BOW! -- Salome 09:58, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Used your template and adapted it to make my own[edit]

I found your template originally on Salome's userpage. I've changed it to more of a horizontal layout (my personal preference). In doing those changes I have made some improvements to the basic template:

  • Heroes are now a simple Yes/No in the template code so that you don't have to remember how to spell their name or accidentally forget a hero. I found it cumbersome to deal with all the wiki code for each hero image.
  • I eliminated the extra Profession values in the template code so now the profession of the character is determined by one value only, profession.

Just thought you might want to see the changes. If you do my template is located here: User:Thor79/Templates/Character --Thor79User-thor79.pngTalk 01:25, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

I think that's a pretty nice job, Thor. - Thulsey Zheng - talk 01:39, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. :) --Thor79User-thor79.pngTalk 05:40, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Looks nice Thor :) --Lensor (talk) 10:05, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Useage[edit]

My I please use this layout on my page? Thank you! People of Antioch 20:50, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Problem[edit]

There is a little problem with the 1st year code which shows :*1st year instead of

  • 1st year

The problem is that there is a hidden character between : and * i already fixed it just letting you know :) --Fox007 User:Fox007 14:38, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Ah, ok. Thanks :) --Lensor (talk) 15:12, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

how do I...[edit]

Get Rid of certain sections so that they don't show at all? --Master FastUser Master Fast sig-icon.png 03:27, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

you'll either have to ask lensor to change it so you can disable sections to your liking (i could do that for you if ya want, lensor), or you can just copy+paste it to your own template page, for example User:Master Fast/Character, and edit it there. - Y0_ich_halt Have a look at my page 12:21, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Not Working?[edit]

I tried to get it to work but it shows all of the wiki formatting ...Dogzrdogz 03:13, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Page: The Imperial Reaper

i suppose you found the bug since it seems to work fine here. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 12:18, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Favourtite skill..[edit]

...box is messed up. Take a look on my page Saberhagen File:User Saberhagen Wiki Sig.JPG (My Talk) 22:05, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

you mean because it's some pixels too high? that's because elemental attunement is such a long name it adds a third line and therefore heightens the box :) pick another skill and it's fixed xD - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 17:13, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

description[edit]

the code line break cancels all formatting. like here:

Bold without an ending tag next code line, normal anyway.

- Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 12:28, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Yes I noticed that, although I did not understand why it happened, so just made a comment about it. I don't think it matters that much, but if someone (hint hint) were to fix the template to account for this I would not mind at all :) --Lensor (talk) 23:12, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

profession image[edit]

hey i was wondering how exactly do you change the profession image? i would like to use signets instead.

|[[Image:{{{User:Zesbeer/professionname|NA}}}.jpg]] {{#if: {{{secondaryname|}}}|[[Image:{{{secondaryname|NA}}}.jpg]]| }} would i do something like that and then have the links to the images i want to use?--Talk Page‎ Zesbeer 21:54, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

This template + Template:User favorite skill; they aren't quite meshing.[edit]

Basically when the |favorite= parameter exists but is left blank, the template creates a link to the file "File:.jpg", which populates the Wanted Files list with 370 dead links. I think the solution is similar to my recently encountered expression 1,000 ... --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 11:29, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

I dodged the problem by producing a third favorite skill template, and using the if function in there. I've passed this template to that one instead of the original favorite skill template. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 11:29, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Actually, I copied the code from the third skill template to the original - loads of people copied the code from lensor's template and this will fix it for them too I reckon. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 11:41, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
