Nice idea[edit]

Hey, good work ;) It does not fit the things I do on this wiki (I have GWWT :P) but the features look really interesting :) poke | talk 23:36, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks =) I don't really have a use for a lot of the things GWWT does, but it does the things I need ;) MisterPepe talk 23:56, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Come on! Put in your installation instructions already! :P -- ab.er.rant sig 03:07, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Heh, I'm making them now =P MisterPepe talk 03:08, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
And, after quite a bit of fiddling, they're up ^^ MisterPepe talk 03:27, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Woot! -- ab.er.rant sig 03:48, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
"I'll probably do an array thing similar to what Poke did ..." - It's an object :P
"but I have no idea whatsoever how to fix the css." - What about class names? ;) poke | talk 22:50, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
See, you seem to be under the mistaken impression that I have any idea what the bugger hell I'm doing here. It's totally trial-and-error =\
Take a look at the tabs in the screenshots that I put up, then take a look at yours. Both of our css files modify the regular tabs (i.e. user page/discussion/edit/history) - and I know nothing at all about css. The css part, at least, is from WP =P
Oh, and the "array" thing comes from the fact that I've really only programmed in C++/C# before now, and (in either of those), I'd do it as an array ^^
In other words, I've got nothing ^^' MisterPepe talk 22:53, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
In fact, in JavaScript there is just an array with indizes. Associative Arrays do not exist, but can be simply imitated by objects (as JS is an object oriented programming language). "Both of our css files" - I actually have only one css file and the only changes I do for GWWT do never inflict any other parts of this page... besides of the div.pBody p which just makes text in the portlets look better..
But if you need help with anything, feel free to ask me :) poke | talk 23:18, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
(edit) I would also like to have GWWT and AVT supplement each other good (without doubled things or something like this). So maybe we can work together a bit :) poke | talk 23:20, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Heh, sounds good. I think the main thing that would need to change (aside from my failure of a css file) would be reducing the number of tabs on userspace pages. I've got five six of them (only five for non-IP users) of them after the "watch" tab, and some of them are duplicated by GWWT =P
If you can help with the css, I'll strip down my code a bit and make a compatibility version that won't have all the extra tabs/any other conflicts that I can find. MisterPepe talk 23:23, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Oh ^^ that sounds like a full page :P At the moment I plan to do a complete recode of GWWT to make it more flexible and space-saving. With this version I will also add more options to customize GWWT, so even if there are double functions (which we should avoid) you can at least turn them off in GWWT :) poke | talk 23:33, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Heh. Yeah, it kinda is. I mean, not for me (widescreen ftw!), but it's a lot of tabs. I've got a way (css, ugh) to make tabs nest (i.e. have contextual drop-down menus in the drop-down menus), so I could probably save some screen space if I tried. Meh. At the moment, I'm more concerned about keeping things working than anything else - every time I do an update, I break something ;) MisterPepe talk 23:41, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

User specific template insertion[edit]

Just curious - would it be possible to add links to allow one or more user-custom template insertions? Namely, for User:ExampleUser, they can use this to insert their own User:ExampleUser/SomeTemplateName? Giving each user the ability to easilly assign their own template name (or documenting the process to change to something other than the "welcome" one) could increase the flexibility of the tool. Although, granted, I haven't looked at the code myself, so maybe it's already obvious. I'll take a peak later tonight. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:31, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

It would be possible, yes. I've got the tabs overloaded by namespace, did you have a particular use (like a user talk message, or a basic article tag, or what?) in mind? Implementation kinda varies depending on what you're looking for (but it's probably only a couple minutes of coding). MisterPepe talk 00:36, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, my main use for the option would be if I moved the text at User:Barek/notes#Warn_1 into a user template ... but others may want different wording or some other use entirely - which is why I thought letting it be user defined might work best. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 03:21, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Right. Anyway, it's really easy to make that, I'll see what I can work up tonight.
A couple options off the top of my head: add another configuration setting (heh, that broke the installer last time =P), make one that looks for a Special:Mypage/AVTCustom page, or a couple things I haven't thought of yet. ^_^ MisterPepe talk 03:31, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Like it[edit]

I like this but I am not fully sure how it works yet, I have tested it in my sandbox and I have gotten the hang of the warning system, but thanks for the tool -- Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg

Ok this is odd but last night I had all the tools for AVT then when I got up this morning I didn't um......do you know whats going on? :o) --Shadowphoenix 17:18, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank you![edit]

I love this tool so much. My only recommendation is that the report vandal feature puts the vandal tag in the "vandals" section on the admin noticeboard instead of at the bottom of the page. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 09:14, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
