Wintersday Art Contest Entries

Hi, I was wondering what happens to the entries for the Wintersday Art Contest that didn't win. (like mine) Hope you just don't tuck them out but they end up in something like this. Thanks for the info. (Qanar | talk) 18:09, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Sounds like this was the first time you ever "submitted artwork" to a Studio. Trust me, if it only ended up in their Dumpster then you got off easy compared to some of the stories I've heard from other Artists. --ilr 21:17, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Receiving an actual physical entry is pretty rare, because it's so much cheaper and easier (on both sides) to simply email a picture to us. I actually recommend submitting electronically, because everything you send to us becomes ours, and we never return entries. Storage space here is at a pretty huge premium, so we typically don't display any physical entries at all. That doll was small enough that it could fit into the display cabinet. The pumpkins we got for Halloween -- not so much. There's simply not enough space to put them. We generally keep them in a closet for a while, whether they win or not. Later on, they're just thrown out. I actually have your entry on the window sill behind my desk, because it fits there. I guess I could take pictures of my workspace if you're really curious, but I'd have to clean up a bit because it's a little cluttered. (Though my desk is actually has way less stuff on it than Linsey's, but I consider my space cluttered at the moment because I have a pile of notes sitting in the corner that I haven't put away yet. XD). --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 04:40, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

This is a fallacy

"Linsey and I talked about being more open about the development process at the beginning of the year. With that in mind, she's been posting on her journal since the start of the year, with updates on her progress. We can't go into a lot of detail, unfortunately, but hopefully it's given you an idea of how much work this has been for the Live Team." not much else i can say. 75.165.105.191 23:52, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

i guess its not really a fallacy its just nothing has really changed information wise.75.165.105.191 00:07, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
I just connot stay silent on this matter. Keeping us informed, greedy info-hogs we are, is exactly what they are doing. They are working very hard on our Surprises for the big update. Why must some hound and hound when a tad a paitence would serve us and them better. Regina and Linsey both have said repetedly that there are some things they are trying to implement and are not sure they can, so they dont want to tell us about a future perk/utility/upgrade that may not make the April content update. Dont want us to be disapointed is what i read. Now i will say this: I there anything wrong with a little suspense? Siadina User Siadina Siadina Signature.jpg 10:41, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
There is nothing worng with suspense, but right now all the info we have about the upcoming changes is the exact same info that we have known seance they made the announcement not one new bit of info about what we should expect to see has been said and i for one feel that they are saying one thing and are doing another IE they are giving us the EXACT SAME AMOUNT of info that they had before. Surely by now they must have some idea what this update is going to look like they only have 8 Weeks (about 44days) left if they are shooting for the update to come out on the 30th of April. they dont have to tell us about all the changes either they can just give us a little but of an expanded version of what they are going to do about the stuff we already know about: Increases to account-based storage, Improvements to character-based storage, Account-based changes to the Hall of Monuments what are some of the General changes they are going to make?. 75.165.105.191 10:56, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
And that is exactly my point. They have not told us anything yet because there is nothing new to tell.I didnt see anywhere that they said 'we will tell every little detail of the process' they said to be more open in what the developers are working on. And that is exactly what they did. If they are working on storage upgrades then i am willing to bet they are still coding it. A ton of work has to be done. I understand that no info is aggravating. But we must also keep in mind that they have 44 days to finish. I am sure that when they have somthing even semi-concrete they will let us know. At least we do know that they are working on it. Give them time and paitence, and we may all be uber surprised at what they come up with for us.Siadina User Siadina Siadina Signature.jpg 11:25, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Actually, to be honest, more was said from Linsey say in regards to possible storage improvement before that developer update than after. The update where they said "We want players to feel connected to what we are developing even though it may be months away from release, so during development we will be more open about our process and what we are working on." is a joke, to think otherwise is misguided in my opinion.
Secondly, saying they're working on a 'surprise' is misguided... to an extent we already know what's coming. 000.00.00.00 19:32, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
What's wrong with just saying, "We're thinking about doing x, but it may or may not be a part of this update", "We don't plan on adding storybook storage", "There's some talk about making the Hall of Monuments account-based, but at this point it's nothing concrete"? That's being open, and it's not making promises that they can't keep. Take the developer updates for example:
"As part of toning down powerful spike builds, we also adjusted Ancestors' Rage. The skill was damaging adjacent foes too much and too quickly, so we made it last longer while doing less damage. This spreads the damage out over time, which gives defenders more time to heal and react to the damage."
The overall spike nerf doesn't seem last-minute at all; I'm sure that they could've said at some point before the release that "We're looking at toning down spike damage", even without the skill-specific information. That kind of thing would be nice, is all.
This update is almost totally ambiguous; we know of "Improvements to the Hall of Monuments" and "Increasing storage". That's really not much, and I don't see what the harm would be in being more open. Even if it's not coded at this point, "We're going to double the size of the Xunlai Chest storage, but we may not have it finished by the 30th" is a lot better than... well, nothing. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 20:18, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah whatever... We don't NEED info about the "update" b/c it won't have real skill changes or anything else that *takes away* from anyone's game experience. The areas where we need more Transparency and Forewarning in are the "directions" they're trying to take the Classes and skills themselves in b/c a lot of it just seems random and amateurish at best without some kind of long-term Context. --ilr 21:42, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

What I never understood is why these updates are kept so secret. Why do these changes and updates need to be treated like a state secret, with only slivers being revealed? Leaving a community of loyal customers extrapolating on the potential form of pending updates seems rather pointless. In my opinion, that "Future Updates" page, or whatever it's called, should be transformed into a page where the line items for a release such as this upcoming April release can be updated in terms of status, potential form and possibility of inclusion. Give players a precise list of things that will be changed or added, cross them off the list if they prove to be too ambitious during the development process, give us very precise things to be excited about. While I understand that everyone at aNet is super busy, I hope that aNet and their supporters can understand that us "info-hogs" are so anxious about this sort of news because we love the product that aNet built. Pkohler01 00:19, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

I couldn't Agree with you more Pkohler and i also dont understand it. they are acting like we are 3 years old and a let down of them not being able to do something would be like the end of are guild wars gaming life's. there have been other skill changes that have been a bigger let down then anything they could ever say they might do there has been stuff in starcraft 2 that they said they were going to do that they cant do did anyone complain no.75.165.105.191 01:52, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Having no information on main projects: like new campaigns and expansions I can understand, or anything else that is a product with a price tag on it, that I can understand. Updates however I don't really get, well to a point I can but for "upgrades" to old systems I think its completely unnecessary keeping it a secret, or a surprise. Especially on matters that have long been a massive discussion.
They won't give precise lists on anything, because they don't want to be locked into anything, or to have people say "but you said this". I don't know, I just don't get Arenanet's attitude, after all the talk about how much time it takes to do stuff, even just the planning, and they still open their mouth to stuff they haven't confirmed yet. 000.00.00.00 03:00, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
I don't believe that the "more open to developer ideas and process" is a fallicy. All I am saying is that they have already told us what kind of upgrades to expect. I would personaly love to know if they are adding book storage or if they are adding a master backpack item that allows you to pull and item off of any toon at any time. My point in this whole mess is that we need to be paitent and give them more time to get us the info we crave. Info-hog myself included. And i do hope they are working on extras for us all. And tll sometime in April is not that big of a wait, not compared GW2. Siadina User Siadina Siadina Signature.jpg 03:30, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Because if they told people what they can't or won't add, then they'd have to respond to tons of posts complaining about it. They don't want to disappoint people, and at the very least, there's a Assume Good Faith policy on this wiki, so let's give them the benefit of the doubt. As for that openess, read the latest developer updates. It's a lot more detailed than those of let's say 1 year ago. So shut up, stop complaining and be patient. 145.94.74.23 08:48, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
OH MAN JUST LIKE ALL THE CHANGES THAT WERE MADE TO STARCRAFT2 A GAME THAT IS NOT EVEN OUT YET NOOOOO MY PHOTON CANONS CANT WARP AROUND MY BASE OH WAIT NO ONE CAREED. BECAUSE BLIZZARD SAID: WERE STILL IN ALPHA AND THINGS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. WHAT A NOVEL IDEA, ANET COULD SAY THE SAME THING "THIS INFORMATION IS STILL UNDERDEVELOPMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE." WE ARE PAST THE AGE OF 4 WERE A LET DOWN IS SOMETHING WE CAN GET OVER RATHER QUICKLY ESPECIALLY IF THERE IS INFORMATION AS TO WHY SOMETHING COULDN'T BE DONE.75.165.105.191 10:46, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Your usage of capslock suggests otherwise. 145.94.74.23 13:55, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Just a thought about all this: has anyone else noticed that video game and computer game companies give their customers way more info about their development than any other industry? I mean, can you imagine if, say, Pfizer talked about developing their medicines while they were doing it - "Working on a cure for cancer, but killed thirty-two mice today, whoops, guess we won't be using THAT chemical in the final product...". The closest we get is movies, but even then they barely even officially say what a movie is until it is finished filming and well into the editing and finishing stages. Writers never talk about their book until shortly before it comes out, musicians only release one song and they don't do it until shortly before an album comes out. Only video games tell us anything about development during the actual development process, and yet somehow we complain about how they don't give us enough, and we do it way more than anybody complains about any other industry. I have never understood why gamers feel entitled to know so much about a product while it is still in development. Think of it like a movie, it is nice to be teased, but you don't need to know every detail about it, 'cause if you did the actual thing would never be as good as you imagined it to be. - Satanael 18:42, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

I wasn't talking about you, but I guess when the shoe fits... Anyway, those of you that complain should read Regina's and Linsey's journals first, then compare the length and depth of the Developer Updates notes to those of 1 year ago, and then rethink wheter their complaints have as much merit as the claim they do. 145.94.74.23 14:17, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

A lot of things can change between concept and when features are live in the game. Sometimes things can change even up to the very day of the release. If we outlined all our plans at the very beginning and told you every detail about them, and had to tell you later on that some of the things we wanted to do were unworkable for whatever reason (not enough time, not enough staff, technical problems), it would not be ideal for you or for us. You'd be disappointed, and you'd believe us unprofessional for "changing" our minds on "promised" features. We would rather discuss things when we are sure things are solid. I apologize if this frustrates you, but this is standard practice in the game development industry. What we have been doing is trying to discuss as much of our progress as we can, but there is really only so much that we can say. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 02:47, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

tournament reward points from predicitions

okay not sure ii shgould be directig this at Gaile or yourself Regina, however I have just checked all 4 of my accounts and i have received 25 points on one and 0 on the other 3. Now i know this to be incorrect as i bet on rawr winning in all 4 predictions, which they did. I am also aware that those who got double poins last month are having to work off a defeciet this month, however the thing is, I didn't get double last month, I only got my standard reward. I think their may be a bug in the system and in trying to equalise peoples rewards, people who did not benefit last month from the double rewards are still being punished this month. Any help you could offer in regards to this would be most appreciated. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 01:02, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi Salome: I've talked to QA regarding the XTH distribution, and your question regarding incorrect points being awarded. They tell me that they are working on it, and ask players to open a support ticket so that we can help them. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 01:11, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Thank you Regina, not sure if this kinda info is helpful, but I've checked with my guildies and alliance members. ALOT of people are getting the same problem this month, however what is of note is that a friend of mine bought 20 accounts this month post-double points bug and had 6 accounts already pe-bug. The 20 accounts registered post-bug are all working fine, however the 6 registered last month all have 0 or 25 point rewards. He too did not claim double rewards last month as I was with him when we went to get them. Thus the bug does seem to have something to do with the retributive aims for the bug last month. I will now submit a ticket to support and I will also advise my guildies to do the same and my alliance peeps. However in my alliance alone that's gonna be over 150 peeps as everyone is complaining about it, not to mention all the people in great temple of balth complaining about it. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 01:21, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Regina, would you like each one of us who didn't get our rewards to submit a ticket? Because over half my guild didn't get theirs and that's a lot of support tickets. Karate User Karate Jesus sig.png Jesus 01:22, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Yup i was kinda thinking that, as support is going to be inundated. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 01:25, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
For example, I only got 50 TRP's when I should have gotten over 100. About half my guild has gotten exactly 25, 50, or 75, and the other half got 0. You're going to get a lot of support tickets if we all submit one. Karate User Karate Jesus sig.png Jesus 01:28, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
this same thing happend to me. and i didnt get dubble points last month.75.172.46.207 01:49, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
I guess I'll just tell everyone to submit support tickets :/ Karate User Karate Jesus sig.png Jesus 02:16, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

The Live Team has decided to do another build to correct the problems. After the build is complete, you should have the correct number of points. Any extra points you have will not be removed. We also will not remove the points from last month for the small number of users who got extra points and who were supposed to have the surplus removed. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 02:20, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, Regina. That seems like a fair way to handle this. Also, sorry to hear that your QA manager is so frustrated. I'm not surprised, considering this keeps happening and it has to wear on him too. Karate User Karate Jesus sig.png Jesus 02:24, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Last month was double points, this month was halved points. >_> Wonder what's wrong with the system.Pika Fan 02:31, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, slight tangent, but did Salome really just say that his guildie bought 20 accounts this month?? Why on earth would you need that many accounts and why in God's name is someone buying them all in one month? Just curious... (Satanael 07:39, 6 March 2009 (UTC))
This double reward points is really screwing with the zkey price is there going to be anything to try and fix this or do you guys not care?75.172.46.207 11:38, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Resetting the indent. Hi Ms Regina, good day to you, I don't know whats wrong, I have the same problem as Salome, one of my 3 accounts, the same one, second time now, has not gotten the rewards point, at first I thought i might have forgotten to make the prediction on this account, but this is the second time and I made sure I make the prediction, and I am pretty sure there must have some kind of problem that Xunlai is whitholding the rewards points for this particular accounts because i use the same prediction for all 3 accounts, and its impossible that one of them is left out. Will this problem be resolve and all due points be awarded accordingly? yay the siggy works once more! Thank you. Pumpkin pie User Pumpkin pie sig.jpg 14:47, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
@ Sataneal, this a bit on a tangent so I'll be very brief. He got them from a wholesaler who was going out of bussiness. Thus he got 20 accounts for about £60 total. He bought them mainly due to A) hes a packrat and B) he loves his main account but cant be arsed farming on it, thus he wants to max all the titles and wants the gold to do so. With almost 30 accounts getting an averageof 100 TRP each month from the predictions, that means he makes about 3000 points a month which is 600 keys. 600 keys at 4.5k each is about 2700k a month for doing nothing more than some predictions, which means he can afford to max all his titles and buy all the weapons/armour he ever wants without ever having to farm again. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 20:37, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Yep, I had the same problem. I was told that the team made a mistake and they would be rewarded in a later build, however they never where. I just gave up after support told me they where 'evenly distributed'. They where wrong. Have fun & Good luck! 68.106.54.50 06:06, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Further to this problem, just to let you know. that in allowing everyone to get their tournament reward points, the update also re-allowed everyone how had been able to already get their TRP's, to get them again. Thus effctively giving a massive chuck of the community double points AGAIN and thus why Z-keys are only worth about 3.5k now. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 21:50, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Do you consider this to be a problem?

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10353978 is anything going to be done about it? if you really wanted to nerff it is make it so you dont get any points if no damage was done to the other team.75.172.46.207 12:31, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

So are you upset about Guilds offering this service, or are these Guilds getting Champion points in a not so applaudable way? --Arduinna talk 13:53, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
As long as it's not exploiting a glitch or breaking the rules it'll probably be considered like running missions/areas in PvE. 000.00.00.00 19:01, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
no whats happening here is this guy bought 5-6 rank 100 guilds and has enough characters in each of those guilds that he can take people into one guild start a guild match late at night and then sync up have his other toons resign and then flawless victory and 1 cham point and then just repeat. and he cycles though the guilds so they all get an even lose win ratio. and so there rating never goes down. they farm around 25 champ points a night and this ass hat is able to charge 4 zkeys a point. it seems like ladder manipulation to me.75.165.120.89 00:05, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Its cheating no matter which way you look at it. Its allowing another person to play the game for you while you do nothing or something else. I don't understand why its so much fun for people to pay other people to play the game for them. Isn't the point of a game to play it? People who "pay" for titles...you're sad. You're the people who get silly tattoos of Winnie the Pooh characters and for some odd reason think its cool. No...it's stupid, false, absurd and makes the doer look foolish. I'm not the biggest fan of titles, however, they do mean something to the people who actually play the game with skill and earn them--not buy gold trims with 11,000 ectos, pay 2k a fame to get R9 or pay someone to farm Champ points. Shame on any of you that do this...you people that do are the reason this game in in decline!--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 00:11, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
I think the draw for champ point farming is that it isn't simply a title you can work hard on then get. For the vast majority of players, this title is out of reach completely (and it still probably is with those prices ><). Not to say that this is the only reason people wold want to cheat - look at the drunk bot discussions on Gaile's page... I certainly don't think people paying for this title is a good thing, but I can see why they would. Ashes Of Doom Talk 01:11, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Not everyone is a Great Gvg Player and those people with much title want this title aswell for their HoM, so because of that people make this. 145.53.242.142 09:41, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
In my humble opinion the Hall Of Grind is not the best thing that happened to GW. At the same time it point out that ArenaNet clearly identified what the majority of their player base is made of, and that they got a good sens of marketing. But to be honest, if it was our product, wich part of our player base would we reward in order to stay competitive? The 80% of dummies who are leet at making love to walls and still ping every green items they got before entering each alliance battle and loosing, or the 20% that think and play the game ? Yseron - 90.28.72.50 11:04, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
That's kind of the point. It's supposed to be for "great GvG players", it's supposed to be out of reach of the majority. If it were meant to be accessible to everyone, it wouldn't only be awarded to the winners of rating 1200+ GvGs. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 09:53, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but at the same time, similar titles (Hero, Glad, Comm) CAN be reached by anyone given some time. Because the Champ title requires a ranked guild it's very limited compared to the other titles. Anyway for me this DOES stick of "Ladder Manipulation" in the least... — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o 18:21, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
The just need to fix this by giving all people who win in Gvg 1point. Then people dont need to be on the ladder to leech people and then there is no ladder manipulation. And I mean hero battles isnt rating 1200 either is it? Death Slighertalk: Death Sligher 19:11, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
That's a magnificently retarded idea. I mean, the sheer scope of the idiocy of what you just suggested is astounding. --75.71.67.5 19:14, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
This is a very serious exploit, not something like running service! But sadly the issue seems to be completely neglected by Anet for some unknown reason, despite being talked about in the forums I've never seen an official response. What they're doing is much worse than just ladder manipulation - they buy guilds with 1200+ rating and set up matches to have them "play" only with each other, and then just concede quickly to get Champ points. They are able to produce rank3++ Champions without actually playing even 1 GvG! isn't this absurd? They can run the whole thing at hours when there are very few high rank guilds playing (that is every other hour than Euro evening) and as they control multiple dummy guilds themselves they can tell with very high accuracy whether they're playing one of own guilds or a real opponent, at the very moment the system starts countdown to match. They risk nothing - they can protect their guilds from losing rating to outside guilds by having whole team log out before match starts, opponents get free win but no ladder rating points.--YawgYawg 21:57, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
It's neglected by Arenanet simply because they don't have enough active employees keeping track of everything. Though, if enough people get their knickers in a twist over it they'll change something, give someone a smack on the hand. 000.00.00.00 03:12, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
I think they may be not aware of existance of this exploit or how big and serious it is. It's the worst abuse happening since the duping back in 2007 and it's going for a few months now, yet it didn't get much public reaction. And it shouldn't be hard to track - it's a network (or maybe there's more than one) of at least 10 guilds, all of them are above 1200 rating but not in top100 to avoid being shown on the Observer. They should have a large history of matches between each other that ended exceptionally fast, most likely by /resign. Finding out which guilds they are should be piece of cake, tracking responsible players running this business and all players who took advantage of it is harder, finding out the best way to punish them even harder and closing the actual exploit possibility - hardest. A nice first step could be changing the Observer Mode to show all GvG matches with both guilds above 1200 rating, so everyone would see it running rampant (and make screenshots and send tickets to support). Right now they're invisible for the community and visibility matters - just see the reaction to the recent case of intentional draw at mAT which was very trival compared to this real massive exploit.--YawgYawg 05:00, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Regardless of people knowing if it was right or wrong i don't think the people who "got ran" (for a lack of a better term) should be penalized. the person who is running it on the other hand should be because they were the ones who profiteered off of it the most. i mean 5 zkeys a point and rank 3 is 100 points so if they can make that in one night i don't know but if your at least getting them rank 2 50points that 250 zkeys from just one person and lets say he had all 7 people besides him self, that is 1,750 zkeys in one night. probably more if they give out rank 3 in a night so that guy would be getting around 3,500 zkeys a night. 5 zkeys a point is a lot and is why i think the "customers" shouldn't be penalized. (sorry if my maths were wrong. not a pro at maths)75.165.102.233 03:01, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
People who "get ran" clearly see they're participating in a very shady activity, they are getting the title meant for top level GvG victories without playing GvG at all! This is nowhere like for example buying fame runs, where it's not any exploit but normal gameplay, (just using lame gimmicky builds and requiring no skill) but they are actually playing and can be beaten. The champion farmers get points without playing! They manipulate the system to avoid playing with real opponents. This should be a bannable offense.--YawgYawg 21:53, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

If the Support Team is able to investigate players who are reported for rule-breaking and Support is able to gather documentation that supports the report, the team will take action. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 22:34, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

so are you saying nothing is going to be done? or that this should have been posted on gailes page?75.165.102.233 08:28, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
We need details (players/guilds involved, time, time zone, screen shots if possible, etc.) and reports sent to the Support Team so that we can investigate. When we investigate, we build a case -- we look at logs and pull documentation. Based on that and on referncing the rules, we would then make decisions. BTW the Universal Tournament Rules apply to all forms of PvP, so if players are not competing and playing in matches in good faith or are manipulating the match, they are breaking the rules. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 23:03, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Oh but that's exactly the problem! They're invisible, they can control the ratings of the guilds used for the exploit so they are all above 1200points but avoid getting into top100 so they NEVER appear on Observer mode. The way it's done makes it impossible to catch and report them.
So there are 2 options - either change the observer mode to show ALL matches with both guilds above 1200 rating - no more invisibility for them, and whole community will see the problem and everyone will be able to make screenshots and report; or you need to start an investigation based on limited knowledge - knowing only HOW they operate. But their behavior is VERY specific and greatly different than normal playing, it should be really easy to track.--YawgYawg 08:43, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
They're invisible? Like Ninjas? 000.00.00.00 19:20, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Ninjas are no invisible. They just stay where you can't see them, just beyond the corner of your eyes. I think that's because they have the same radars Solid Snake has. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 20:03, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Regina, this problem "has been known by ANet" for months now, part of first Isaiah's response was "... I would advise against doing it as it will likely land you in trouble!" which now seems more of a joke, meaning "abuse your hearts out, we don't care about this game as long as addicted grinding fans buy GW2 and feed us money" (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User_talk:Isaiah_Cartwright/Izzy_Talk_Archive_20#WTS_Champ_Points). IF you really need so much evidence (,even though you have it written in EULA or somewhr I read that you MAY suspend account even without reason whatsoever at will,) you could make all rating 1,2k+ guilds go into observer or if that's impossible/too timeconsuming make it r1-250 or even r1-300 making it virtually impossible to get non-observer match with champ rating.
This is huge problem which cannot take more "we're looking into it" replies, that is same as saying "we don't care" after all this time. Also NO, it is NOT "too late" to fix it, some harm has been caused but futher would ruin this game more. 91.152.187.195 04:00, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
they could just sign up for the service OH MAN WHAT A SIMPLE IDEA....75.165.102.233 07:07, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Hey, we should really give them a break. I mean, come on now. There's only like 3 people looking after Guild Wars right now, do you honestly think they've got time to look at all these things? Geez, you guys are so insensitive.
Sorry, I couldn't keep that up. But, honestly, there's only a handful of people working on Guild Wars, expect months and months of "we're looking into it", "We were discussing this the other morning" etc and so on. If this is addressed before the whole syncing and leeching situation though, I will seriously question Arenanet's professionalism. 000.00.00.00 07:56, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
user 000..., NO. Note the mAT happenings and how rawr was taken goldcape out, that happened ALMOST INSTANTLY compared to these fixes, and it was only cos Isaiah got pissed off for having his favorite guild abusing the game. Noone gives damn 'bout ur priorities since they obviously fail (the least ANet: note previous sentences 'bout rawr and how quick they reacted), GvG > RA in matter of seriousness. *waits for someone typin "gw is srs bsns"* 91.152.187.195 15:13, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
When Izzy said "IT" I understood that he was talking about "farming points", and not "reporting the guilds/people involved"... — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o 23:51, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Pretty sure he meant the abusal of that system, esp known cases, but solutions rnt even in using over 9000 hours to ban few ppls 10th accounts but to actually fix something like making obs wider ranked showing abusers thar. 91.152.187.195 04:15, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

As I said before, when we receive details from reports, we investigate, and if the investigation turns up evidence of abuse or exploitation of the system, it is flagged for action. Support is currently investigating several guilds and players involved... --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 22:19, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Fake guildwars site?

My apologizes if someone already contacted you regarding this - I haven't seen any entries on this hence why I'm doing this. Someone on guildwars.incgamers.com noted that by omitting 's' from guildwars.com, you will be taken to a page at guildwar.com which looks like the official site. We are wondering is this a concern or an authentic Anet website? – User Barinthus Magical Compass.png Barinthus 20:48, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Whois reports a different domain owner, but I can't find any obvious "phishing" traps anywhere on it. Suspicious indeed but not Malicious-Apparent --ilr 21:28, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
It redirects to www.guildwars.com. DarkNecrid 22:01, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
It just started doing that, earlier on (about 4+ hours ago) it didn't redirect www.guildwars.com, however now it is so ^_^ yay --Stu 22:06, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
Regina just confirmed on GWO thread that it's authentic GW website. Nothing to see here, folks, move on along. – User Barinthus Magical Compass.png Barinthus 04:40, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
It's not a site, just a domain. It redirects to the real site. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 16:42, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
