Halloween Art Contest

Regina, a friend of mine recognised the artwork from one of the winners' pictures ([1]), having sworn she saw it before. Lo and behold, she was right. It's an altered version of an unrelated pic from 2006: [2]. I'm not sure if altering an existing picture is even allowed to begin with, but I assume it's not the actual artist who did the doctoring to add in Razah, the sign, and the GW logo, seeing as the artist is apparently from the UK (and doesn't seem to have any GW-related pictures) and the altered pic that won says it's from someone in France. Just thought I should let you guys know about this, since I don't think it's fair to steal someone's work and use it like this. Capcom 21:29, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

That kind of sucks, but tbh... it looked shopped. The rest though are amazing. Some of those were really tough to choose who was better. ANet draws from a pretty hardcore crowd of fans. --Ravious 21:41, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, the costumes where amazing, but imo, a few looked a little stiff and new, could use a good couple washings or something to loosen them up and make em look like they've been worn and used. My 2 cents — Wolf 00:29, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

I have already contacted the winner about this matter. If they are unable to produce a written and signed letter from the artist of that original piece on DeviantART, certifying that they had permission to use and "remix" this piece of artwork for the express purpose of this contest, then they will forfeit their prize, and an alternate will be chosen. --Regina Buenaobra 01:10, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Even if they had permission from the original author, it doesn't seem fair that they should win for something that probably took them a few minutes in Photoshop to do, especially considering the Razah image is also non-original (apparently). It took no artistic talent to make that image, assuming they aren't the original artist for the background image, only a few cut/paste skills. The decision of first place winner also seems unfair, considering that the costume wasn't made specifically for the contest, and was actually completed five months before Halloween. Don't get me wrong, the costume and workmanship is amazingly well done, but it's not Halloween-themed at all, other than being a costume. Meh, just my opinion. --Kokuou 12:55, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

She actually was going to enter it in last year's competition...but needed more time so she waited until this one. Everyone could have guessed there would be a Halloween contest...so many people might have started early. You had as much time as you needed...they just officially announced it in October. Hello Regina! Happy Halloween from Mr Freebies! I think the improvements on the decorations in the towns are superb. I also really like the new Costume Brawl arena and the fact Halloween celebrations are earlier and longer! Halloween is Arena Nets best bit of the game, so that means i like this game even more now!
