Artbook
Hello, and sorry if this has been asked before (Probably has, but I haven't seen it); is there any plans to release for sale an artbook? Y'know, some sort of concept art compilation for GW. If you guys have not thought about it, well, there ya got a suggestion :P I would reaaaallly like one of those, seeing that the majority of the loading screens are awesome (I specially like the one for "The Rise Of The White Mantle"). Thanks anyway! Large 07:24, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- I know the collectors edition for at least Nightfall has such an artbook, and the PCGamer magazine special edition had a lot of artwork as well. Would be nice if players could get those separately. Good luck. -- Alaris 13:33, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- That IS nice, however, it's only for CE... and well, the PC Gamer special edition is not available anymore, I think. I believe that you guys need a Merchandise department, and I'm kinda looking for a job *hint-hint*; because I've seen a lot of cool ideas like plushies, stickers, artbooks... even mousepads!
- 'Course, I'm not demanding these things, but they add a lot of value to an already succesful game. You might make some money in the process! Large 16:18, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- At this time there are no plans to release an art book that compiles concept art from all campaigns of Guild Wars, however this has been suggested before, and I will pass along your idea to the marketing team. --Regina Buenaobra 00:00, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sure it would be a well-loved item among a good portion of the community =D — Wolf 00:07, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Question about the GW Prima Guides
Simple version: There is a large sum of backstory/lore to be found in the Prima Guides for Guild Wars: Prophecies and Guild Wars: Factions, are users who bought the guides allowed to post the lore sections of the guides on the wiki?
Extended version: In both the Prophecies and Factions guides, there were a few sections that included lore backstory to the game or to the game's storyline, but after so long it's no longer easy to find these guides, so I was curious if it would be alright for users that have these guides to post the articles/sections up on the wiki.
For example, a lot of people see the Factions storyline as very weak, but the little sections in the prima guide happen to provide more backstory to Shiro and make him more of an interesting character. Therefore, it would benefit Anet to have these sections more widely available through the wikis. Not to mention it would give the random lore lover a little more to read. Gmr Leon 19:57, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- We're going to have a similar problem with the incoming Guild Wars books, but regarding the Prima Guides: doesn't the Factions one contradict the Nightfall storyline? I was told the Prima Guide tells a version of Shiro's story that is different from the one we see in-game, for example. Erasculio 20:10, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- True, though I think the books may stay on shelves longer than the Prima Guides, and it really depends on what the content of the books is. As to the Factions bit, I'm not quite sure as I honestly don't have the guides and that's part of the reason I would like an answer on this. However, it seems likely to me that there may be existing contradictions. From what I recall, the Ascalon Foothills were referred to as the Kree Foothills in the Prophecies Prima Guide. Still though, I think the majority of the information provided in the lore sections of the guides is still in-line with the existing story and lore. Although if we wanted to be very particular, you could say the Prophecies Manuscripts and in-game observation contradicts the bit on the spirits.
- For example, in the Manuscripts it says the spirit is trapped within the body and rots away with it. However, in-game we see spirits in the Underworld, spirits in the Desolation and Crystal Desert, which contradicts the existing lore. By the way, if you're curious about my source, it's in the bit on the Hall of Heroes in the Prophecies Manuscripts. Gmr Leon 01:38, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hm, that's a good question. It's probably one for our lawyer. I'll ask him. --Regina Buenaobra 19:44, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- Awesome. Thank you for taking the time to respond, I know everyone's been a bit busy over on your end. Gmr Leon 20:28, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- last i checked you can get the game manuals on guildwars.com that was a wile ago so they might have taken them down. also the site is kind of a maze to navigate. also alot of the stuf in the manuals have been posted on the wiki already.75.172.47.227 08:21, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- You misunderstand what I'm talking about. The Prima Guides are basically a strategy guide, like you can buy for other games, that were previously sold shortly after or at the release of Guild Wars: Prophecies and Guild Wars: Factions. They contained the normal stuff you see in strategy guides, but they also had pieces of lore in them that provided more backstory to the game. Which, while they may conflict with the final story, still contain parts that were unchanged. Such as the Envoys in the Factions guide being punished to guide spirits to Eternal Paradise or the Gates of the Mists. Gmr Leon 22:51, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- i know what the prima guides are you said you could find the normal guides and i was pointing out that you can get pdf versions of them off the website.75.172.47.227 23:45, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- The backstory provided in the guides differs greatly from that seen in the Manuscripts, which are what you can find PDF versions of on the site like you said, in that it provides much more information than can be fit in the Manuscripts. What with the Manuscripts acting as backstory and game manual. Gmr Leon 03:23, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

- Okay, so our lawyer had to do some research into this question, because it was fairly complicated. He reviewed the contracts with Prima and the answer is that you are permitted to post lore sections of the two existing strategy guides on the market, the original Guild Wars and Guild Wars Factions. However, in the future if we have any new strategy guides, you will not be able to do this same thing until a few years after the release of the strategy guide. --Regina Buenaobra 01:47, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- Awesome! However, send my regards to your lawyer, as I did not intend for my question to cause him/her to go to that much trouble. Gmr Leon 03:02, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
Guild Wars novel series announced... and...
According to this [1]news i have serious question - in what laungages this books will be released? ^^ --Grethort 14:34, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Also since its aimed at bridging the 200 somewhat year gap between the two games, will it be relased before GW2? Sweet Escape 22:02, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- At this time we have not finalized the language list for the books. --Regina Buenaobra 00:10, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
PAX panel video
Hey Regina, I was wondering how the video was coming along for those of us stuck anywhere but Seattle for PAX and the GW retrospective panel? Thankee. --Ravious 17:15, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'll find out for you.--Regina Buenaobra 23:46, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

- Any news on this one? Thanks! --Ravious 11:43, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- We had some issues with the video and sound, and some projects that had to be prioritized over the video, so it took a little longer than expected. We're putting it up on the website tomorrow, however we have a version (split into parts) available on YouTube here. --Regina Buenaobra 00:43, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Woot! Thanks, Regina! --Ravious 14:56, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for the video. Most of the information we had already been told, but it's amazing to be able to see the people and take a glance at their personalities and their interactions (you people ought to make a "The Making of Guild Wars 2" DVD). The composition of the pannel was great, too.
- I really, really liked the Guild Wars music played in the montage. The Play! orchestra adaptations of the four opening themes are great. Are those songs available in any way? If not, would there be a possibility of making them available to the players in some way, shape or form?
- (Arena Net is expanding a lot these days - not only the Flicker page, but also the Twitter page and now an YouTube profile...It's good to have more ways of learning about GW news. Good work on that "virtual" expansion.) Erasculio 16:50, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, Erasculio. We're trying to find more ways to connect with our players besides traditional methods, like forums. --Regina Buenaobra 19:26, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Wow, that was great, and the Play! thing was a treat. It's very good, imho, for players to see this instead of chat transcripts and what not because things come through the facial expressions and inflections of speech that just don't appear on text. I hope when the GW2 marketing machine starts rolling podcast interviews become prevalent. --Ravious 12:50, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

GW:Trilogy
I posted on Gaile's page in hopes of getting an answer but she told me to come to you, as you could give me a beter answer than she could... So can you see if you can tell me whether or not GWT will be sold in digital media form? Thanks Drago 23:39, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Guild Wars Complete Collection
Regina - Are there plans to market and sell the Guild Wars: Complete Collection set in the U.S.? It would make it easier to get people into the game, especially at this late date in its lifecycle. (I apologize in advance if I have missed an earlier disussion on this subject.) Perrin42 01:55, 29 September 2008 (UTC) (Corrected the name in the title. Perrin42 19:15, 29 September 2008 (UTC))

- So the U.K. gets the Complete Collection (http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/6279181/Guild-Wars-The-Complete-Collection/Product.html), which includes Eye of the North, but the U.S. doesn't? That doesn't make much sense to me... Perrin42 14:24, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe sales in the US are down and they want you to have to pay for EoTN again? o.O It does seem odd. 118.92.234.188 17:38, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Might be some kind of legal issue prohibiting the sales of Complete Edition in the U.S.? --Silverleaf Don't assume, ask! 17:58, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- It's more likely the market conditions and the retailers than anything legal or what not. I hate when people feel that because a game is $14.99 in the US it should be 8.99 pounds or 12.50 euros (or whatever exchange rate) because that's not the way business works. Our global economy still has tons of borders, but people think the internet just magically erases them all. --Ravious 19:55, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Wish it was though :). --Silverleaf Don't assume, ask! 19:59, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Down here we're used to having to paying stupid-over-priced-mark-ups for things, I call it the "having the cooler country than the US tax" ^_^ 118.92.147.180 18:15, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Guild Wars Comic Books
Any information on how to obtain them once they are released? Fox007 15:24, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- There are no plans for a Guild Wars comic book series. Unless I'm completely out of the loop, and I don't think Marketing would do that to me. :-P --Regina Buenaobra 18:19, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Tin Man
Hey, Regina! We just finished watching Tin Man, a Sci-Fi Channel adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, and we noticed that during the "Making of..." section on the second disk there is Guild Wars music playing in the background. I was just wondering if ArenaNet knew of this, because in my opinion, you can never go wrong when you mix some L. Frank Baum and Jeremy Soule. :D Kokuou 09:44, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- This and this are the vids Kokuou mentioned. Don't know if there's more. --MageMontu 21:13, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, no. Don't worry. It's just that Jeremy Soule style sounds 'Guild Wars' to you. Once you play other games with Jeremy Soule's OSTs, you get to make them out. He's style it's quite... homogeneous (Not that I don't like it, once you get the best, it's hard to make something better). Here you can see the list of Mr Soule's last. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0815819/ Tin Man is one of them. MithTalk 21:34, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- Some of the music wasn't from Guild Wars, albeit it was in the same style, but some music was definitely from GW. I watched the whole "Making of..." so I'm sure that some of the music was from GW. Heck, I even thought that I had left GW running on my computer until I realized it was coming from the TV. Kokuou 00:06, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

- Oh, thanks for the link, DarkNecrid! I was pretty sure that there was no copyright infringement, I just wasn't sure if it was Jeremy Soule or ArenaNet that owned the rights. Tin Man was really good, though, so to hear the GW music used in it made it even better! Kokuou 00:50, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
