Nope[edit]
So... A warrior that only uses swords... Yes, seems like you created it, and very original... not. --Lustre Of Havoc 02:56, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- I personally like this one. Its like a combination of the warriors swordsmanship ability with the assassins quick and light movements. Not bad. -- Wandering Traveler 03:00, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
People Don't Like It[edit]
]: Spawn Legacy 13:25, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- Through greater research, Lustre of Havoc is a troll. -- Spawn Legacy 14:20, 16 August 2008 (UTC) still need more originality.
- Through even greater research most arguments are derived from the name Swashbuckler. This is a name synonymous with the image of a pirate. As pirates are seafaring thieves, they don't belong on the primarily land based combat rpg that is Guild Wars. Especially not in Guild Wars 2 fighting primarily sky based dragons... Although there could be some epic enclosed battles on a moving ship with dragons swooping from all directions. At this point in time, I feel that Swashbuckler fits snuggly into the profession's disposition. Regardless of story based arguments and ideas, this profession could be renamed a Fencer or a Musketeer but, to me, those names seem so lame. I'll do some research and get back to... myself with my decision. -- Spawn Legacy 14:53, 17 August 2008 (UTC) constructive criticism is very welcome.
- I've come up with Satsuma, Brigand, Bandit, Rapparees, Klepht, Vagrant, Blade, Jester, Avenger, Stalker, Kensai, Raider, Gypsy, Reaver, Duelist, Tyrant and the aforementioned Fencer and Musketeer... I still like Swashbuckler the best because it feels like a crude, acrobatic swordsman, which is what he is. My other preferences are Brigand, Musketeer, Gypsy, Duelist and Fencer, in that order. They're pitiful.. To all who use the name as the biggest argument against this profession: Help out or die. -- Spawn Legacy 17:03, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- So.. lemme extend a helping hand here. I have to say, "swashbuckler" is a pretty... meh, piraty, corny name. Besides, you profession isn't really a "pirate", per se - It is more of a fast-moving, fast-hitting guy. Speed is the focus...
- Swashbuckler is out. A Musketeer is someone who uses muskets, so no to that as well - Brigand is very meh, Jester sounds OK but too corny, Reaver is a big no-no, Gypsy is pretty lolastic, Duelist just doesn't cut it with GW, Fencer is meh, Tyrant is irrelevant, Satsume, Rapparees Klehpt Vagrant are Bleehhhh, Avenger doesn't really work (what do you avenge?) Stalker may work, kensai is meh...
- If I was to choose a name I'd go with... Dragoon. Or, since that just sounds cool without making sense, how about... Raider works, yeah, but thats meh... Seriously, what do you call a guy with a fast sword and acrobatic moves? How about... PERVERT?
- Tbh, your guy is going to be a linebacker/splitter. I also have to ask this: What does this ahve over a sword warrior?

- Lmao at the pervert. OK, over a sword warrior, more diverse adrenal skills. The sword isn't the core of this idea. The primary attribute is just a means for gaining adrenaline. Adrenaline to power things like interrupts, attack buffs, party wide protection, life and energy draining.. Things that would be great to restrict to the duration of the battle and require you to work for their activation. Skills not restricted to shouts, stances, attacks and signets. When they are shouts, stances and attacks they're more situational and diverse. It also features skills that have synergy with stance swapping and meleecasting.
- Different from a warrior in that, his sword damage is weak; the skill use is the only real source of damage. His armour is weak; he needs to protect himself and he needs to overpull tactically if he's to do so. He features the ability and the skills to support the party; the fatal flaw of a Warrior. This aspect would have an effect on the way people play the profession - keeping an eye on the rest of the party while in the front line.
- Basicly he's the manifestation of all the things that the Warrior doesn't have that make him boring and easy. Read the skill page, think of the combos. Think of all the new viable, fun tactics this guy could bring to the game! :o Just the creator's opinion -- Spawn Legacy 18:13, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, you do put in a lot of time and effort into this, don't you? Though I'm not a particular fan of the profession, I can't resist saying good job with the skills! ^.^ azaleachat 02:45, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Fencing[edit]
Each point increases armor by 1.5 right? Not defense? I like the "cannot use 2 hands" idea. ~Shard 20:06, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

- I can't find any skills that deal a flat rate physical damage type... Fencing Arts skills might need a buff but I don't know how to check it. I'll go attack armour suits with different levels of swordmastery tomorrow. -- Spawn Legacy 17:44, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

- This is the first time I'm adding something to this wiki so I hope I'm doing it right. What I'm missing is one crucial skill, a fleche, with a chance of succes and damage that might increase if your rank is higher, just a thought :) Muesli 10:28, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Builds[edit]
There's builds on the skill discussion page. Feel free to criticise and add your own. Still haven't started on icons :S There's too many D: Anyone got a good idea for a hex that gives the enemy a 25% chance to block? -- Spawn Legacy 11:41, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Attribution[edit]
This page still needs it. Backsword 05:05, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
- If it contains Anet content attribution may not necessary. -- Indochine talk 17:12, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- What are you talking about? This was the profession that Spawnlegacy developed for Shadowphoenix's Create a profession contest. What do you mean attribution? If you are going to copyvio this, then you need to copyvio all of them and be done with it. -- Wyn 09:50, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
