Flame Temple Corridor and Dragon's Gullet[edit]
They both look awesome. Nice work. :) --Dirigible 15:35, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
- Thankee, Dirigible. Much appreciated. FYI, I'm not all that clever at Wiki categories and templates and charts and tables and transcluding and things like that, so if you run across me doing things the wrong/long way, please feel free to point me toward the right way. - Sundown Solstice 15:52, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
- Dragon's Gullet shouldn't be in Category:Dragon's Gullet, I think, but only in Category:Ascalon locations. We just had a discussion on that matter here here. Basically, just leave the categorization to the templates for the different areas, they'll take care of it.
- Similarly, creatures shouldn't be in Category:Dragon's Gullet either, but in Category:Dragon's Gullet NPCs (this also was discussed in the talk page I just linked you to). Hope that makes sense. Cheers! --Dirigible
- Ah, OK, sorry, I've been mucking about in blissful ignorance. I think I probably disagree, but if it's already been discussed it's no biggie. Thanks for the note, I would have blithely kept on going otherwise. - Sundown Solstice 18:35, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
- Categories are probably the messiest part of an article's formatting right now on the wiki, since we're still making changes to them as we go along, and it can be tough to keep up with all those changes. If you disagree with those, btw, feel free to bring it up at the talk page I linked to. Always better to mention these things, especially now that we're sorta early in the content-population phase. This way, if there's been some major oversight, it can be corrected with as little hassle for everyone as possible. :) --Dirigible 18:41, 8 April 2007 (EDT)

I just saw your note at Category talk:Dragon's Gullet, I think I should clarify why this scheme was chosen. This is an attempt to separate the category trees of locations from those of NPCs. Basically, the goal is to have something like this:
For locations | For NPCs |
---|---|
|
|
This way the lowest element under the Locations tree is a location, and not an NPC. Likewise, the lowest element in the NPCs tree is an NPC. On GuildWiki it used to be that NPCs were the lowest element in the Location tree, which was somewhat unintuitive. This is simply an effort to tidy up the categories and make them more practical to browse through. --Dirigible 18:59, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
Style and edits[edit]
Hi. Well, I disagree totally with your accusation of my "blanking" your contributions. Look at the differences between, eg Dragon's Gullet here. There is very little of your version that isn't included in my edit. It has simply been formatted more like a wiki entry. Wiki is the crucial thing to note, too. I agree, there is a great depth to the Guild Wars universe, but this is meant to be an encyclopedic guide to the game, and i feel that your style and format contained a lot of prose and speculation. The version that we have now contains more information than the previous one, is laid out in such a fashion that the information is easily found and read, and is written where possible in plain and accessible English. I'm sorry that you feel you should quit the wiki over this but you shouldn't assume ownership over articles and as it says on the edit screen: If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it. As I said, there is very little that has been removed - it has merely migrated south to the Notes section, where it properly belongs. When I consult an article on this wiki or guildwiki, I want to know the facts about the subject in hand, not necessarily read a HP Lovecraft novel about them.
