I like it, but....[edit]

Anet will not do it. It's too much work for them even if it makes sense. By too much work, i mean any work I like 7 hero party ideas. If you can use 3 heroes and 4 idiotic henchmen Whose bar has never changed in Prophecies/Factions/Nightfall over 200+ skill adjustments, why would you not let us bring 7 heroes. Again, as for your change, it's a good idea, but Anet doesnt care enough to do it --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 06:32, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Heh, it's actually only about 10 lines of code (not including the UI change to the Books themselves), I could pound it out in 30 minutes or less. But you prob'ly right... I know how game designers think: they'll ignore every idea out there unless it's so simple a blind rat could do it without any testing required, but they'll spend years and countless resources trying to shove their own square pegs into the same round holes. But fortunately this wouldn't require Testing; I already listed all the fall-out details (that's why this page was so damn long)... every other prediction about it could be done with a grade-school calculator :p ...Point is: now I can atleast say "Hey, I tried". --ilr 22:15, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
They ignre theese pages because the unnamed IP idiots and other people who suggest bad things (see the history of universal protector)--Boro 10px‎ 14:36, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
BTW:How does this book reward based on fail would work? --Boro 10px‎
In less than one sentence: It would increase the Book turn-in bonus for "mentoring" crummy players. --ilr 19:55, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Sorry but this sounds like an absolutly horrible idea.[edit]

Honestly, if this were ever implemented (not that it would be), I can't imagine it having any beneficial effect whatsoever. Furthermore it would only hasten the death of this aging yet great game... and that's assuming that Anet could actually get it implemented right.

Firstly, there is a reason a lot of us avoid random pick up groups when we can - GW is a GAME, it should be ENJOYABLE, we should NOT be forced to work with aggravating dipshits who can't be bothered to even TRY to understand the game. Additionally, many of us do not have ages to waste away searching for/setting up pugs for quick adventurers - that is why henchmen and heroes exist in the first place. We are already punished enough by having to work with unintelligent AI teammates with greatly limited skill sets and no concept of intelligently using the ones they DO have access to. Don't tell me heroes/henchmen make the game easier, that's pure BS, The game difficult is based on a full team of intelligent human players, anything less is a disadvantage.

Secondly, introducing yet another arbitrary and unnecessary complicated ranking system to the game would do nothing but confuse newer players and cause experienced players to find ways to exploit it.

Now honestly, I've lost my train of thought, it's nearly 4am and I don't particularly care to try and recapture what has escaped me. That said, I would like to comment directly on two points which are still nagging me:

"Gives players an incentive to do something so frustrating put up with such levels of delusions that it makes them smash their heads into their keyboards in frustration think they're playing a Game Wiki instead." - Yeah... you got it perfectly. Now tell me why this is a GOOD thing.

"Every time a Player or Team of players re-entered an Area that they had already gained a number of "drops" from, the Levels of all mobs in it, would drop by 1 and their drop-pools would adjust accordingly" - If this was anywhere near as carefully planned as you claim, you would never have EVER made that suggestion. Do you have ANY idea how many ways one could exploit a continually reducing enemy level rating? No I didn't think so. Zero4549 07:54, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

That first comment you're quoting was some vandal's addition that I didn't quite remove... perhaps I should. Either way, every point you raised, I already addressed in the suggestion itself. IE: It still isn't forcing you to PuG, lower Creature levels = lower drop tables too, and the whole point is to have a ranking system that isn't arbitrary for a change which would give you a fair warning ahead of time for what kind of player you're pugging with. Don't blame me if it's 4am and you can't understand how it all fits together... --ilr 19:31, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
