I would like it if the players had a choice between 1st and 3rd view.--Catforsale344 17:47, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

How real can the dev team be? =)

First person view would be fun if it looked really realistic... As you're running, lets say with a bow... The bow would appear on the bottom-left side of the screen coming up for a second, then go back down, just like you were really runnning through a field with a bow on your left hand. Another feature that may come with a first person view point is that, your screen could shake around as your charachter runs to stimulate a real person running. Also, as you attack a monster, your bow would appear on the screen and your screen would move a tiny bit as your charachter readys his bow, and shake when he lets the arrow loose. I wouldnt be so sure if this would work on a melee profession but it would be really fun to have something so realistic in a first person view point. I doubt its something the GW dev team could put in guild wars. I've only seen this kinda stuff in movies and FPSes.. -- SubzeroRay 6:03, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

It may be fun in pve but you will soon get tired of it. And it's absolutely useless in pvp, cuz u probably would like to see what happens 360 deg. around you. I myself prefer to turn off this feature in FPS TEHEK 04:30, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

You know, not only that... some of the coolest scenery in GW - certainly half of what "makes" the Echovald Forest - is above you. Do you see it? Nope, too busy looking at the ground because that's where the enemies are.
First-person view would go a while toward mitigating this. It's possibly one of the more successful parts of Oblivion; you actually get time to appreciate things like the sky/mountains etc. With the kind of art we have going into Guild Wars, it's a shame you hardly get to notice any of it (even the character models are usually shown too far away to see much detail!). -- Sirius (talk) 15:32, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
The option to switch into first-person view would be nice, however, I am quite used to playing in third-person, and I believe the vast majority of people are. I'd prefer it third-person, personally. --Jette 08:41, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Having first person as an option wouldn't limit the game in any way- although most players would just stay in third, some would enjoy being able to 'get behind the visor', as it were. There is, of course, a first person option in GW1, but since neither of your character's hands are rendered, and there are no screen effects, it's basically pointless. If you just added the little touches of rendered hands and weapons and a bit of screen effects (slight shaking when taking damage or running, foggy when underwater etc), first person would be that much more fun. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:99.250.136.8 (talk).

Rating

How would FPV change the game's rating? Sure, you can see any "violence" - if it exists - more clearly, but don't censors usually rate based on what's in the game, not how much detail you'd see it in? -- Sirius (talk) 13:32, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

I've removed it. -- Gordon Ecker 09:27, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Game to follow for 1st person

Dark Messiah.

Its first person perspective is near perfect.

But I do not agree on an action game like Oblivion styled Combat. Heres why: 1. The best strategy in oblivion seemed to be run run run! You can almost never catch up to the person running, and it gets frustrating 2. Hitting ur allies is a pain 3. It is just lame...

So, why dont we have an automated first person perspective, while still using the basic click-attack and skills system, it should automate the animations, rather than having to click to swing.

Turning the camera should also be good, but not a full 360, maybe a 110 degrees turn, which would correspond to 3rd person's neck turn. Anymore could result in interrupting current action and not do anything. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:192.139.27.18 (talk).
