ArenaNet talk:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/Businesses + Jobs

The idea is well thought out but not how it would be incorporated into the game. I like it, but its impossible. Infinate Invisible Spear Bag 20:18, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

But, basically the idea is adding grind into to the game. As much as people do like crafting professions, they're basically a means to get players to spend more time in the game. GW had sidestepped the need to do more than gather materials and gold (or just more gold) to get weapons and armor. Which also helps limit the whole time spent being a greater factor. The idea itself isn't bad per se, it just runs pretty counter to most of the intent of skill > time, and attraction to causal gamer not needing to spend large amounts of time to be productive. Though, the idea of Profession jobs is tenuous at best, they haven't annouced professions or classes as yet. Even assuming the 10 professions available now, there's could be significant overlap with some classes. And the Mesmer would be doing what? Acting? Not to mention that these kinds of jobs would be likely to be highly repetitive. 75.146.48.190 22:36, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

I agree with the fact that the "jobs" could get repetitive, alas it is an exelent idea, it give more meaning to the whole "guild" concept since right now having a weaponssmith in the GH is just for...well for nothing, he just stand in there for customize and thats all.

my suggestion would be that the GH merchants, blacksmiths, dye traders and other merchant type of NPC should be changed for "stands" were certain players named by the guild master could sell certain items depending of their guild rank, for example: insteed of the blacksmith we have now there its gonna be a blacksmith avil were players with the rank of "weaponsmiths" or armorsmiths" could sell their merchandice.

I dont feel like the faction's part would work, since the main factiosn in the game right now exist only in cantha, therefore only players with acess to cantha could buy such items.

also I think "smiths" should be able to create any kind of weapon they have idintify using an identification kit, that way we are not copying runescape ^^

ugh :I more grinding jobs for cash...this isn't runescape, and i hope it never turns into runescape. |NalanaUser Nalana Darkling santa.jpgDarkling| 03:00, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Maybe there could be a system similar to the fallout 3 schematics system, where blacksmiths could find weapon schematics or cooks find recipes, and certain ones give unique recipes and common ones improve previous recipes, possibly.--Freddy-voorhees 08:20, 3 February 2009 (UTC) I thought up ths idea ages ago and didn't think I would get much of a response, so thanks for your comments. Some ideas, looking back at them now may not work, but I think that the GW developers should definatly look into a job aspect to the game. Like I said in the main article, it would add more depth and another aspect to the game. I don't want it to go Runescape's way, No Way... But it would be nice to have some kind of job which you could follow through GW2 and turn to when you are fed up of doing other things, such as quests ext. --91.135.13.144 19:31, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
