A character slot refers to the allotment of potential characters an account can create. Every character created on an account occupies one character slot. A character slot may be used to create either a PvP-only character or a PvE character.

• Per default, any account comes with 2 character slots, and an additional 2 for each campaign added to the account.
• All slots have access to all campaigns added to the account.
• Additional character slots can be purchased in the Guild Wars In-Game Store. According to ArenaNet, the maximum amount of additional character slots that can be bought (on top of the number that came "out of the box" with campaigns) is 26. They cost $9.99 (USD) / €8.99 (EUR) / £6.99 (GBP) each
• The Guild Wars Nightfall Prerelease Bonus Pack came with one additional character slot.
