Feedback talk:User/MithranArkanere/Missing penalties for not customizing

I have to "politely" say that this suggestion is complete bullshit. The reason I am against customizing of any kind is because only one character can use it once that happens. You can't use them on your alternate characters or any characters you plan to make in the future. Even heros can't touch them! If customization was account wide instead, maybe it would be ok but that isn't the case. Another thing I hate about customizing is nobody can even physically equip the weapon once customized. I don't care about fancy skins when I'm playing and usually use PvP equipment or the same shit in PvE all the time. However I have rare skins like Zodiac/Celestial/Platinum weapons and a TON of shields all in storage for when equipment doesn't matter like costume brawl, dragon arena, etc... I like to bring it out then and get creative (and I think I notice others doing the same). I also bring these things along for scenic pictures. But if we all need to customize everything or it becomes standard, this will disappear too! It could be solved if we could equip customized items (say with 0 stats), but again, we cannot. Therefore I think that implementing customizing as part of a solution for anything is way too limiting as it is. Previously Unsigned 03:27, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Your post sounds like a suggestion to remove customization. You are welcome to create one. This suggestion is about equalizing the existing feature so that there's a caster benefit for customization. As things are now--and under this suggestion--if you don't want the bonus, don't customize.
I'm not sure if MitranArkanere's suggestion is good on the specifics, but I agree, if GW1 has customization, it should benefit casters, too. 75.37.20.27 03:46, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
The main idea is that customization should give benefits for offhand and caster weapons too. They currently don't, so it's pretty much pointless to customize caster weapons, and impossible to custmize offhands. And so, rare items of those types keep flooding the game, and people sell later items that have been using for ages, which is not desirable for the game (regardless of how much people likes that).
But effects cannot be added to those items, because that would affect PvP, since PvP equipment comes customized, all those PvP weapons would get the effects, and PvP would be affected way more than any change done in PvE. PvE has very different standards when it comes to balance. In PvP, things are to be kept controlled and equal. In PvE things are to be kept limited so they are not too strong, but 'equality' between monsters and players is nonexistent. Since touching PvP is bad idea, the only way to give benefits from customization is to affect not the items once customized, but the items BEFORE being customized. Of course, other changes for customized items would be welcomed too, like making customization account-wide (which I would greatly appreciate), but that's another idea altogether.
