Tbh, the copyright rules here are a bit ridiculous. Karate Jesus 20:21, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- They're totally balanced. Moo Kitty 20:29, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Where have I heard that before? Karate Jesus 20:39, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Ridiculous or not, we have no choice, so raging against it is a waste of time. -- Wyn talk 20:45, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Who's raging? And why do we have no choice? This site is legally independent from Anet, right? So, why is there no choice? Karate Jesus 20:52, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Anet dictates the wiki's copyright policy since it's hosted on their servers, though they might also take our thoughts into account. If something we request is possible, it's likely they'll do it - however, they'd have the last word. They obviously don't want to open themselves up to legal vulnerabilities. -- Brains12 \ talk 20:44, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Legally independent? Where'd you get that idea? Anet hosts and nominally runs the site. In practice, they leave everything up to the community, but if there were ever a question of who is legally responsible for the site, I can't think of any reasonable answer other than Anet. Even if it wasn't Anet, why would we want to open whoever would be considered legally responsible up to potential legal liability over one-shot talk page jokes and such that have nothing whatsoever to do with the actual point of the wiki? - Tanetris 23:17, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, right, I forgot that this wiki is super srs bsns. Moo Kitty 23:42, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- You (and many like you) consider it nothing more than a joke, and a place to play pranks, but for ArenaNet, the documentation of their game, and the legal considerations ARE serious business, their business actually. In areas like copyright, they do take it very seriously, and people need to remember that. -- Wyn talk 23:52, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- How serious? --Super Igor 00:02, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- What I do understand is that ANet cares about it's customers (lol Customer Support) as much as they do about copyright laws. Oh, and who is there to sue them? People who still play GW and care about super srs policies? Btw, on an unrelated note, ANet accepts Wiki images but not images.google.com images? Kk. Moo Kitty 00:06, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
