If this is what GW2 has in store for us[edit]

If this is an example of what GW2 will be like, i'll probably not be buying it. Just cramming a ridiculous amount of enemies in a ridiculously large area for a tedious and boring quest that links in with the GW1 -> GW2 story line is a big nono, tbh. Also, is it really necessary to spawn those effing white mantle after you get the key? really? just making us walk all the goddamn way to the key isn't enough, you have to annoy us on the way back as well.. **** you, Arenanet, **** you. seriously! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 94.111.110.245 (talk).

Agreed. That said, review the first comment in the Notes section - if you're happy to take the hit, let your party wipe at the first popup group on the way back, and you'll resurrect back at Livia & Zinn! --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 17:37, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

-Just be glad they aren't Peacekeepers. I find the White Mantle far easier to defeat. -IndigoAK

STUPID!!![edit]

TONE IT DOWN, DEV's!

How in the hell does discouragement and aggravation create any kind of interest in a games sequel? I don't think it is necessary for me to go into details on this one! One word sums it up just fine... FAIL! Kass Munroe 07:27, 19 January 2011 (UTC) Edit: Found some real payers and got it done. Much, MUCH easier with real people + heroes... no henchies.

Must agree with you on this one. This makes me want to break my computer. Not all of us are social players ANET >.< ffs! The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.142.174.21 (talk • contribs) at 23:01, 23 January 2011 (UTC).
Agreed this quest is shit --RhoninUser Rhonin Soren sig.pngSoren 13:21, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Gotta agree here. I'd have much more fun if this were more friendly to casual, solo players. Fritzywiggins 08:06, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Well with 8 heroes it now was a breeze so yay! :p --RhoninUser Rhonin Soren sig.pngSoren 09:18, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Yes, this quest is terrible. I've recently returned after a multi-year break, so I only have Proph and EOTN, and I have been having fun toughing it out through everything in these two campaigns in both NM and HM. Some of the EOTN dungeons were tough in HM, but I was still able to beat them after a couple tries and learning experiences. This quest has me stopped dead in my tracks though. It seems to be constructed so that without Factions or Nightfall, you lack the necessary skills to run this quest. I have tried so many times and it is simply impossible. As one who enjoys soloing through as much as possible, as has been stated is an intended benefit of this game series, its disheartening to find that a progression quest such as this is impossible to run solo without buying additional campaigns or skill bundles. If this is what GW2 will look like then I will definitely not be sticking around either.

I HATE THIS FREAKING MISSION/QUEST =[edit]

THIS MISSION IS COMPLETE BS. WAY TOO MANY MOBS, TOO BIG, TOO CLOSE TOGETHER, OVERLAPPING AGRO/PATROLS, KITING, W TOO MUCH HARD REZ, OVER TOO BIG A MAP = TOO MUCH DP, TOO ANNOYING, TOO IRRITATING, TOO AGGRAVATING, NOT FUN AT ALL GRIND FOR NOTHING!!!! & WTF IS W THE BUSH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GATE LEADING TO THE FOUNTAIN??? EXCEPT FOR A COUPLE DUNGEON'S & REALM OF TORMENT I HAVE NO PROBLEM HERO/HENCHING THE REST OF PVE IN BOTH NM & HM! The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.72.195.220 (talk • contribs) at 15:59, 27 January 2011 (UTC).

Use a flatbow to pull each group apart, wait for your healers to have full energy before each fight, set up your spirits/traps/buffs before you pull, make sure enemies are always running toward you, wait for patrols and/or kill them to ensure a safe field of battle, use hero/hench flags, etc. On that note this mini-mission is complete cheese with 3 SF heroes and you as SoS... even without being a rit primary, or using the new hero party size boosts. Just don't be an idiot and you should fly through. I completed this as a ranger/ritualist using a channeling/restoration SoS build and 3 SF spam elementalist heroes, and brought an assassin buddy with 3 healers. Total cheese, SF+heals.
Edit: assassin was jagged strike/fox fangs/death blossom spam. 24.13.209.23 00:43, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

A Tip for ANET[edit]

Story quests should never take more than an hour to complete, when playing solo. I can understand group based dungeons, but story progressing quests? Why ANET? WHY?

Things that should be fixed. Instead of a "beacon" you should replace/add a skill that has a cool down. That way when i'm playing with H/H im not forced to run back and forth 10 times if i want to use the Golemn Beacons. This is, with out a doubt, the absolute WORST quests i've ever played, not only in GW, but any MMO. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.170.191.97 (talk).

First, you don't need to use the beacons. You can finish it without the golems just fine; with a good enough 7-hero team, you can even do it in hard mode. Second, there sure are a lot of absolute WORST quests these days. -- Hong 23:22, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
I think ANet agrees with the OP that storyline quests shouldn't take hours and hours. So in GW, if I find a primary quest taking me that long, I /resign and revamp my strategy. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:00, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
I don't really mind the enemies in this one, it's the 10 miles you have to travel only to have to travel 25 miles (back past where you started) to get to the next objective. About the only strategy that can speed this one up is bringing a drill sergeant or dying on purpose, which doesn't help much during last part of the quest. I do like the skill idea, too bad it isn't a suggestion.... -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 01:14, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
Fair point: dying shouldn't be the faster way to return to the lab. It would have been better to break this into two parts: defeat the western boss (and return to LA Keep for rewards) → revisit lab (for beacons); defeat the eastern boss (return to Salma to march for civil rights...wait, wrong epic quest). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:20, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

PUG?[edit]

Where are you guys finding pugs for this? Nobody replies to any LFG stuff in the hubs anymore and since this one doesn't really have a set start, I'm not sure where to even start looking. IndigoAK 09:37, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

I know they won't change it now[edit]

...but I think it would have been more attack-friendly to make the beacon a skill like Vial of Purified Water or Disarm Trap instead of a bundle. If your bar relies on the weapon you carry to function, you're pretty much useless until you drop the beacon, and that's amplified when you're doing hero- or henchway.--Ph03n1x 08:18, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

quite a long mission[edit]

Worth noting is this is quite a long mission. It will take a minium of 37 minutes to complete in normal mode with the aid of party speed boosts. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.1.126.250 (talk) at 12:53, 9 August 2012 (UTC).
