Trivia?[edit]

Not sure how people feel about trivia on this wiki. It strikes me this quest is a reference to Elmer Fudd in "What's Opera, Doc?" where he sings "with my spear and magic helmet!" "What's Opera, Doc?," as noted in the awards section of the wikipedia article, is considered by many to be one of the top cartoons of all time. It seems likely to me that the ANet peeps might also be fans and give a shout out to Chuck Jones' masterpiece. Vael gives the quest Be Very, Very Quiet... which, with his personal connection to rabbits, seems clearly a reference to Bugs Bunny and gang and is noted as such on the main page. I certainly acknowledge that the connection to "What's Opera, Doc?" is circumstantial (perhaps no more than the poetic cadence) and that other possibilities exists. (I've heard there are "magic compasses" in some other, perhaps classic, games?) Does anyone think there would be harm in adding a Trivia section that suggests The quest name may refer to ...? I'm a Merrie Melodies / Looney Tunes fan myself and I (gasp!) failed to see this connection for an embarrassingly long time while just knowing, every time I did that quest, it referred to something. Strikes me a mention of the possibility is a service to wiki readers. — ZeeWabbit 00:51, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Generally mixed feelings regarding trivia sections. If you feel something warrants a trivia, just put it in. Someone else will come along and if they totally disagree they tend to remove it. At that point, you can bring it up for discussion. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 13:15, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
I believe it is a reference to the Free Masons. The symbol.. is a Scale and Compass. 24.255.173.120 20:38, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
