Talk:Star of Transference

so is there a point to these when we already have tomes?
- You can transfer skill points between characters on your account, which is quite useful. 83.30.209.100 14:04, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- I can also see these being sold to players with new characters--Evil Geek 20:17, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- "Used to transfer skill points from one character to another"...I think that is very ambiguous...it makes it sound like one of your characters looses a skill point, and another receives it, which is not the case. Apart from that, this being an item makes it obvious you can transfer it between characters. LunarEffect 18:55, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, that is what in effect happens. When you make one, you spend a skill point, and whatever character uses it gets that skill point. That's the whole purpose, so one character that has skill points they don't need can give them to an alt, or sell them to someone else. Hence the name of the item. Otherwise you're just burning gold, wood, and fiber. - Tanetris 20:14, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- Asuming you buy it yes, but that's not what the item itself does, it only gives a skill point. For example this may be aquired as quest reward, in which case it doesn't transfer from one character, it just adds the one skill point to whichever character uses it, so I agree with LunarEffect here. - even the word "transfer" is in the name...

[edit] True Price
After all materials bought from material trader... how much gold would I need per Star of Transference?
- 250 + (2.5*[cost of 10 wood]) + (2.5*[cost of 10 plant fiber]). Right this second, that adds up to just under 1plat, but material trader prices vary. - Tanetris 20:14, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- Herm, I was thinking about buying a whole slew of these on different chars to go on my main char and stock up on Consumables for vanquishing...but it'd cost too much per char, and that's rediculous when I can just get a guildie to buy them for me. Only reason this could serve any perpose, is if you have no guildies, and want consumables or, you're trying to get the skill capture title before you get the required amount of skill points, which is rather dumb since you should try to get a little more experience before you go for a title like that...idk. --Rella 04:54, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
you can use them instead of tomes for example to get a capt signet instead of paying 6-12k for an elite tomb. Also when you have a new character skills cost under like 500 for the first 20 you buy or something, so its actually less expensive.Shinjinbukai

- The whole point of tomes is to not go through the hassle of capping an elite skill, so it's no advantage to use a Star of Transference to gain a skill point so you can buy a signet of capture for 1k. And I can't honestly say I've ever run out of skill points faster than I've run out of gold when making a character. This consumable has no value for me whatsoever. --93.39.60.191 16:16, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
