Biography:
In a tiny, remote village someplace in the land of Cantha, a girl was born. Her parents called her Akasha after her great-great-grandmother. The girl’s family was very poor but did the best that they could to care for her.

Lyssa must have smiled on her birth, because Akasha began to show talent in the art of illusions shortly before her third birthday. They started as small things such as a simple flower where none had been previously or a little bird sitting in her hand. The illusions were simple yet she would draw crowds while playing outside.

Her illusions became better as the time passed. Each year, at the festivals, she would entertain the village with her talent. They laughed and cried with her as she made stories come to life before their eyes.

The years ticked by until Akasha reached the age of sixteen. Unknown to her, the village had been setting aside what little gold they could spare every year in order to one day send her to the famed Shing Jea Monastery. The gold was secretly sent out with a letter asking for her admittance.

Several weeks later, the news arrived. Akasha had been accepted and Master Togo himself would be there to personally greet her upon her arrival. Akasha was overjoyed when her parents told her the news. She couldn’t believe it was real.

A great feast was planned for her in celebration. The older folk brought out their instruments and the younger ones sang and danced to the music. Akasha entertained the village as well. Her skill had grown so much that she was able to create a Kirin that played with the children as though it were real. The applause made her blush deeply behind her bright smile.

The feasting and dancing lasted well through the night. The sun was just barely beginning to show over the horizon as the last few villagers headed for home. Akasha was exhausted from creating so many illusions yet still full of energy from the anticipation of the journey ahead.

The next morning was bittersweet. While excited about being able to attend the Monastery and learn under Master Togo, Akasha was also sad to leave behind everything she knew. The entire village gathered to see her off. She smiled and waved to everyone as the wagon set out to the port a day’s journey away. She turned and settled in as the last villager disappeared over the horizon, a smile still on her face as she thought about what lay ahead.
