About Me[edit]

I enjoy playing Guild Wars and will contribute here when I can. Guild Wars is my second MMOG (Asheron's Call was the first) and I like so many things about the design of Guild Wars any list will be incomplete. It would include: instancing, dual professions, limited number of skills in instances, AI allies (heroes and hench), easy respecing (secondary profession and attribute changing), reasonably obtainable max armor and weapons, low max level, no loss of items on death, penalty removal on return to outpost, capturing elite skills, pvp system (unlocks plus pvp-only chars and special arenas), map travel, districts (can meet friends in different realms in international) instead of separate servers, and on and on... :)

I am primarily a PvE player, but dabble a bit into AB and even less into HA. For AB I enjoy running mesmer and ranger builds, on PvP chars.

Characters and Titles[edit]

My interest has always been obtaining Protector titles, once I finished the Prophecies campaign on a few characters and began to wonder what the "bonus" for each mission involved. I also enjoyed skill capping and found it fun to cap elites with Dawn, before the title system even existed. After obtaining Legendary Guardian and playing through Eye of the North, I went on haitus for a while (played some other games).

For each character, my goal is:

  • unlock and learn all their primary profession skills, including elite skills
  • obtain Protector titles

If I had more time to invest, for each char I would also

  • finish the EoTN campaign
  • finish the Titan Quests
  • unlock and learn allegiance and reputation PvE skills
  • unlock all heroes

But the reality is, I don't have that much time. I wind up playing my ranger and mesmer the most, and then my assassin and dervish. At this time, the others see occasional zaishen bounty or group action if needed (warrior, monk, necro, paragon), or very gradual progress (ele) and that is about it. My rit is essentially retired - he's my char I trot out to stand on the rings during various festivals. However I might dabble a bit and see about advancing him in Nightfall.

My only long term goal is getting to 20 max titles on Dawn. The EoTN reputation titles will get me to 17, and for more I'll need to vanquish. Another goal is to hit 30 points in my Hall of Monuments. Since I currently have 27, it isn't that far off - I should be able to achieve it with minipets, weapons (Destroyer, Oppressor's), or perhaps Vabbian armor.

I started a second account when char slot limits meant I couldn't try every profession, without deleting an existing char. I split time between my two accounts until Nightfall released. At that point, due to the vastly superior skill unlocking on my first account (mostly due to skill hunting) and the huge difference that makes for hero builds, I decided to concentrate there, and replaced Rhaegar with Arya. My second account is now mostly mules, pre-searing chars... ones that aren't really going anywhere.
