I was a Guild Wars fan first. Then, I began to read the A Song of Ice and Fire books and began to notice similarities. For example, before Guild Wars, I had never heard the adjective "dire" used to describe an animal or pet (yes, I had heard it used like "the situation is dire," but never used with a pet). Then, when reading A Game of Thrones (book 1 of the series), I heard the wolves referred to as "direwolves." Having first heard it in GW, I thought, "huh, must be some convention I'd never heard before. Guild Wars taught me something."

Then I started noticing some uncanny similarities and I couldn't help make the connection. This page is a place for me to catalog the parallels between Guild Wars and A Song of Ice and Fire. Both universes are vast and expansive, so I can't claim that this is a comprehensive list. (Plus, I haven't finished the books yet.) So, I welcome fans of both universes to contribute to this page, as well.
