Dragon Age II. That's all I'll say. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 01:01, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

I do not know anything about DA2. I tried its predecessor but luckily I sucked too much at the game:P NWN tried to pull something like this off, but I doubt that was successful because there is so much well-made free content for that game to begin with. Honestly?[edit]

I know this is ancient. I know I'm just an IP, but shit like this really drives me nuts.

Are you serious? "DDO and GW are setting the standard of future games"?! How are the two even remotely similar?! You say that you can't play DDO normally without paying, that 90% of the game is locked. Okay, I never played DDO so I'll have to believe you, but how the fuck is GW setting standards for Cash Shops in MMOs?

Quick facts:

  1. 100% of GW can be completed for free (minus game purchase costs, duh), all of the titles are achievable without buying anything for real world cash
  2. Makeover packs, mercenary heroes, costumes are ALL cosmetic crap which you don't need.
  3. Bonus mission packs are entertaining, but give you nothing in return aside from a handful of max attack weapons without upgrades.
  4. The game doesn't nag you to buy any of it's paid content.
  5. Limited character slots and storage panes can be bypassed by having a mule character/account and a disposable PVP guy.
  6. Since the entire game is completely free to play they NEED to make they cash somehow! Use your fucking brain, hosting servers can't be done for free and NCsoft's income from Lineage II's monthly fees might not be enough to support both games.
  7. Skill, pet and whatever unlock packs are there for lazy people and no serious player will ever feel the need to buy them.
  8. Buying cash shop content doesn't make you gain XP faster or get better loot.
  9. The game gets rich in content, free bonus mini-campaign like stuff (War in Kryta, soon Winds Of Change), even people who didn't buy anything in the cash shop are allowed to play it, something you can't experience in other MMOs, where paying players are respected more and get exclusive content.

Unlike with other MMOs, here you NEVER feel the need to buy bonus content and are never forced to do so. It's just there for whoever is interested. Now stop saying stupid bullshit that GW is setting bad standards for MMOs or that you're in one way or another required to buy whatever they offer. You aren't. Even then, the content is relatively cheap and doesn't expire after a month, like in some games (Maple Story). -62.21.0.55 05:32, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Most of my gripes about the cash op use comes from DDO, which advertises itself as free to play, but in order to fully enjoy it, you have to pay more for it than for, say, the newest God of War game, and even then it gets old fast. GW is relatively low on cash shop content, but it is still a matter of paying for something that should be free. Koda User Koda Kumi Horns1.GIF 14:34, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
