Level Maker(Discussion)
My idea is a build off of the previously projected level editor. Level editors are fun for when you are bored (Having 50 lvl 10 minions to fight your party ftw huh?), when you want to test something (For example, a sliver armor build vs a boss) or to simply practice certain tactics (Double shadow stepping for running, dodging arrows). What I am basically suggesting is an Isle of the Nameless on crack.
Place any enemy from in game
This makes it really fun, think about it, facing 3 Glints at once xD. To avoid spoilers, they would be shown as ???? until they kill that enemy. Then they are unlocked for use.
Motion Paths
When you place an enemy, you could have it so they move in a specific patrol until aggroed or have them run towards the players. This could be done with simple arrows (Click and Drag).
Custom Enemies
This allows players to practice certain tactics such as killing a monk with a hammer build, interrupting various skills, or even just having fun doing 1v1s.
Customizable Terrain
This allows players to have more opportunities to have their custom levels require skill. For instance you could have the map have two elevations, causing bows to be more effective and melee to have to go around.
Environmental Effects
Water, Ice, Lava, Spikes, those crushy things from NF and Sarrow's Furnace, etc are all great to add and can make things more challenging in levels, or just for lulz make the entire map all lava xD.
Invite others to try it out
There could be two settings, Editor mode where no one can be in your party, and play mode where you can invite others to either play on the other team or on your team. This can allow for practice, or just for fun.
NO dropping items from monsters
To avoid abuse, so some bot couldn't just set it so 50,000 bosses attacked him while he tanked and killed them all.
Rules
This is completely extra, and would mostly be for lulz and training purposes. You could have it so that if a player does a certain thing, they gain health...lose health...die instantly. For instance, if someone uses bull's strike on a stopped target, they die, and possibly even a custom message appears saying "You did not use this skill correctly. Good Bye." This could be nice for someone trying to train themselves/others to be a better (Profession Name).
Set Player Skills
Make it so that each player can only take a set amount of skills so that they can challenge themselves/others in their custom mission. Also this is great for the players just in there for fun, since they could have the enemy only have mending and they have a full skill bar xD.
NPCs + Dialogue
Some people really like getting into making this a full on Level, so simple NPCs and Dialogue are a great thing to add.
Bundles
Flags, bombs, vine seeds, etc would all be nice to add to make it more of a challenge.
Custom set music to play
For instance you could make it so players could change the encounter music to one of the more epic songs or for fun turn it into the much more funnier songs lol. Based on legal issues, this would probably have to only be Guild Wars music that is addable.
Create a Skill
Very simple, give players a menu where they can have different effects usable and they can simply adjust the numbers. For Instance:
To keep it simple, lets create a skill that damage AoE damage and knocks down foes:
First off it would ask for the target. This can be very general to very specific such as: Knocked down foes suffering from a condition in the area to just target foe.
Next, what kind of skill is it? A skill? Hex? Enchantment Spell?
Next, how much damage does it do?
Next, what conditions does it cause/remove?
Then you can go on to add things like prevention, negation, healing etc.
Obviously it would look a lot better and be a lot easier to use, and definitely more options, but that's the idea. This way you can create certain skill for your mission to make it more unique and funner/harder. Or just have fun killing things with BAMPH.
- Why this is a good idea
- A lot of people like to create their own things, and this for guild wars would be perfect.
- It makes testing things a LOT easier.
- It allows funner scrimmages for those who like that stuff.
- An entire map filled with LAVA. I mean COME ON.
- Think Gmod (Garry's Mod)
- Has been done in Saga of Ryzom as Ring2 so its completely possible.
- People love to make their own levels. It's a fact. Whether it's just to goof off or they like to challenge themselves, everyone likes to make their own stuff, especially in a game that they love.
- Why it may not work out
- Extremely hard to create.
