New Profession Ideas (Discussion)===

Well first off, I've heard that you would be getting rid of some of the old professions. Like assassin, and I really would like it that you keep it. Just change it a bit rather than deleting it. I suggest you keep all the professions already on GW 1, and add new ones. Also, when in comes to character making, you should make it possible to choose between races. Like human or beast. And I was thinking for new professions, like Beast Master, to control and summon monsters to help you. Alchemist, to manipulate objects in the area to attack the enemy. I think monks should be called priests. Assassins can be called mercenaries, and I highly recomend you keep assassins and dervishes to. Gunner would use guns for massive but slow damage, or small but quick damage, or make guns apart of rangers. Also, instead of having to choose a secondary profession, make it so you have to choose a style, or type of class of the primary profession. Like if I chose an Assassin, then my style would have to be chosen, with 3 options to chooose from, Shadow, Mercenary, or Shuriken. Each style would use different aspects of the assassin. Shadows would use magic more then dagger. Mercenary would use more dagger than magic. And Shuriken would allow them to use throwing skills, like to throw daggers and shurikens. And this idea goes for all professions, not just assassin. And at some point in the campeign, you'll be able to cycle through each style of your profession.

Why this is a good idea
  • Well there's a couple ideas here. But as for the style of profession, I think it's good because

it will eliminate the hassle of secondary professions. It will allow personilation in builds and style in game play.

  • Removing secondaries may be easier for balancing, though it's a stiff price for that.
Why it may not work out
  • Just like all my other suggestions, this is my longest, and I find no problems that might make it

possible to put it on the game. But it's up to you ArenaNet and NCsoft.

  • Eliminates the pleasures and challenges of using the secondary profession.
  • Makes professions and builds more straightforward, thus also less personal
  • Subclasses are likely to end up in even more fixed play, and less combo options.
  • Would remove one of Guild Wars' unique features and replace it with a system that is already widely known
  • Fixed subclasses tend to end up giving extremely fixed gameplay for many reasons. The current attribute system is far more flexible and thus more challenging (and fun) to play, in my opinion.
  • Having expanded professions of the 1st profession will really waste time, sure it would be great but totally wastes the use of a 2nd profession, they already have enough programming as it is making the armor, skills, balancing, brainstorming of new professions... IF they did do expanded "styles" of all existing professions estimating 3 per class. 10 x 3= 30, 30 new sub classes, 30 new types of everything. If you looked at other info you will actually will be able to choose your race while making your character... No Offence really but I like some of your ideas
