Sonomancer sounds better than audiomancer.152.226.7.213 04:16, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Technically, I was just giving a clarification as to what a Bard would be, but you have a point. The Emissary 04:48, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
You also forgot to add the Sonic Boom skill. Plus the Sonic damagetype. Oh, and making people bleed from their ears. Vili User talk:Vili 04:54, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Yes... but i didn't want to type out the obvious skills, just a few examples. :-) The Emissary 07:24, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

First Edition Bard please. --User Master Saji Sig.jpgMaster Saji 14:44, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

I guess a number of the Final Fantasy games are also copyright violations, then? Vili User talk:Vili 22:52, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
first, i called this bard with only the hope that it would help people understand what i was thinking, technically it wouldn't have to be called that (copyright issues would be solved with that). Secondly, are we even guaranteed to have paragons in GW2? Would they be exactly the same? not as far as i know. This really came from my thoughts as to how to design a paragon-like class that wasn't so ridiculously defensive and party dependent. so, naming issues aside, i think the idea is still has merit ( though i admit, if nobody likes it enough to care then delete away :-/ ) The Emissary 00:51, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

And doesn't D&D also have assassins and rangers? just saying...The Emissary 00:52, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

I think the real world had assassins and rangers way before D&D :P --User Master Saji Sig.jpgMaster Saji 18:36, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
And the real world had Bards, Dervishes, and warriors but oh well, why fight a losing battle...The Emissary 05:00, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Just because D&D uses the word "bard" doesn't mean it's copyrighted. The word "bard" is as much an English word as is "warrior" and "ranger". And no, just because GW has a shout and echo paragon does not mean a suggestion for a similarly-themed bard is not allowed. And finally, just because D&D defines "bard" a certain way doesn't mean someone can't write a suggestion or implement a profession based on that concept of a bard. You haven't heard of D&D suing Square for FF Tactics or Ragnarok Online have you? They both have bards in their list of jobs/classes. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 08:49, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Paragons

omg u edit mah comments!

No, really, even if it was an ironic post it contains grains of truth. Classes have many nicknames, and some of them for Paragons include "cheerleaders", "bards", etc. While they may not directly assault their foes with sonic fury (yet...), their current shouts/chants/echoes/refrains etc. mechanic is similar to what is suggested for this new Bard. It's true that no one knows what, if any, professions we will have in GW2. But if Paragons make it anywhere nearly intact, then I believe they will be too similar. Hence why this suggestion may not work out. Vili User talk:Vili 09:51, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Point well made. But if Paragons were to make it through the ringer of time, the 200 year gap from GW to GW2, would they be more like traveling storytellers weaving tales of a time that is no more, or a remnant of the broken sunspears, who vainly hold on to whatever they can, resisting the change that will obviously have come. Personally, I believe it is quite valid to say that the flavor of a profession matters quite a bit, especially considering that we know each profession is meant to be somewhat more independent then the current ones are, and that, at least for me, Bards seem more free to play that role then Paragons. One more thing that can be said about the flavor of paragons is that its role as the ideal leader is one that is very visible when looking at there skills and paying style, Whereas Bards would be a behind the scenes supporter in large frenzies, but also capable of holding his own and following his own path. But, in the end, all this depends on what you choose to see in your minds eye when you think of Bards. In the end, if Paragons started using sound as a weapon, and had more ability to fight independently, then you would get close to what I think of as a bard, so I see where some people might resist calling this by a different name.
