ArenaNet talk:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/The Great Library
Feel free to comment and discuss about my suggestion. If there are any faults, I'll try to change them. Karuro 11:50, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
I really love this idea, there is not enough In-game lore that can be easily acquired in GW1
I love the idea of an in game library with readable books on lore. It makes the game more interactive and realistic. Of course, the lore has to be great for people to enjoy reading. --PCGamer07 23:34, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Excellent idea, I'd love to see it implemented.
Great idea, Lore is as I like to say "Teh Uberz Pwns" Joseph Canaro 15:31, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
As one my good friend said once, "simply to say AWSOME will be like a spit into your face. It's FRIGGIN AWSOME!!" Yup, thats it, one of the best ideas I've seen here so far. Allows certain chars look like bookworms ^^ Ratys 21:44, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- Haha, thanks for the compliments ^^ Karuro 13:10, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- How about this: The Library has some pre-existing, default content. But also, there are Loremasters, or NPCs of the sort that can collect certain pieces of your progress. Let's say that you found a book in a random drop; it details the existance of certain lore-related bits of information, and you go info-scavenger hunting. When you "complete" the book, you go to one of the NPCs and turn in the book. Now, this would not be character or even account-based, but world based. You see, the Library would have empty bookshelves, and the contributions of the players would start filling them up. That way, the world seems very dinamic; perhaps each week would add the contents, in a bulk update containing the past week's findings. When the Library is full, the Order of Knowledge (Just because of lack of an "official" name :P) would go into remoddelation, and in a massive update, they would add another wing, or level to the library!
- Yeah, I know... would be hard to code and grindy, but it'd look so cool, I betcha! Large 05:07, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- IMO Durmand Priory and Rata Sum would also be good library locations. -- Gordon Ecker 09:20, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- That is quite interesting, the Durman Priory. It would indeed fit the bill Karuro 10:35, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Bonus Incentive for Library Questing
This is one of the most solid ideas I've come across on the suggestion pages! Now the author mentioned the capability of reading about quests you've completed when you tell them to the librarian (similar to EotN handbooks and the Bonus Mission Pack); what if we have that as a series of side quests which gave you unique skills or rewards obtainable only from the library upon completion of a series (as well as the satisfaction of completing a collection of pieces to a whole story or an ensemble of similar, related stories)? For example, if I wanted to know more about Shiro's ravaging of Cantha, I complete a chain of Canthan-related side quests and learn more and deepening knowledge about Shiro's involvement, and then learn a skill like "Shiro's Wrath" upon completion of the chain. Even better: we the each completion of a piece of Shiro's Story gives us a clue to a location of a related treasure. After all, libraries are for learning as well as enjoyment! 99.247.17.46 19:31, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Jarrkha
- That can be a nice idea, yes. In the case of Shiro, he was studying dark rituals. So say, that in one quest you stumble upon one of his books that teaches you how to perform a skill. When you finish the quest, you can learn the skill as reward. Karuro 13:10, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
How about each player can get their own private section where they can store relics that represent their accomplishments in the library, along with books telling what quests and missions they have completed. (Like the HoM?)
