Uh, especially in PvE you do know what's coming so I doubt it's too narrow. Hey you can even run a teambuild on Greater Conflagration, Mantra of Flame and the likes. Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 21:21, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

The problem, I think, is that even then people don't use those skills. Even someone who actually knew what to expect in any given area would have limited use for those skills as they are - someone in the Charr Homelands using Mantra of Flame would receive protection against the Charr elementalists and one kind of Charr warrior, but that's all, for example. In order to make those skills more desirable, I need they need a somewhat broader scope. Erasculio 21:42, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
The problem is that the Mesmer is specialized on certain tasks. Having a generally good skill seems kind of odd to me. There's Empathy versus Backfire, Migraine and Crippling Anguish, Physical Resistance contra Elemental Resistance or Visions of Regret and Wastrel's Worry. Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 21:45, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Heh, I agree, but I think being a bit less specialized would be better. Not turning the mantras into protection against everything, just making them useful more often than now. Think of it like how the old Visions of Regret (that was basically Backfire for adrenal skills) and the new one (which works for any skill, but isn't as broad as Spiteful Spirit) differ. I agree that these are very narrow skills (if potentially quite powerful), but in fact they are worse in PvP than in PvE, since in PvE you know what you're going to face. I quite like this idea, but balancing could be tricky and the energy gain would be a problem if you got energy from warriors hitting you too. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:82.3.255.222 (talk).
