Feedback:User/Morgaine/Remove repeatedly-required shrine "paperwork"

Background[edit]

How many times have you found yourself already deep in a zone when you suddenly realize that you forgot to get the shrine bounty so half of the benefit from your killing has been wasted? It is a matter of principle that for fun gaming, repeated actions that require no challenge should be reduced or eliminated, as they just add "paperwork" without contributing to the enjoyment. Obtaining shrine bounties is of this nature.

Concrete proposal[edit]

If you are in the vicinity of a shrine (close enough for it to register for resurrection purposes) then any bounty offered by the attending NPC should be granted automatically.

Mechanic[edit]

  • The brightening of the shrine which indicates availability for resurrection should be the infrastructure trigger which also registers availability of the corresponding bounty. This will be confirmed to the player by the appearance of a bounty icon in the Effects Monitor area of the interface, as usual.
  • Clicking on one of these bounty-offering NPCs should provide only a storyline explanation of the bounty that was obtained automatically by proximity to the shrine, but not be required every time as this gets extremely boring fast.

Exclusions[edit]

  • Blessings offered by /kneel-summoned avatars of the gods are excluded from this suggestion because they require a conscious choice of blessing. This contrasts with the NPCs which offer bounties for Sunspear, Lightbringer, and EotN points which require no user selection of choices, and hence their bounty acquisition can be automated.
  • Blessings offered by Kurzick Priests and Luxon Priests in Cantha cost 100g to acquire, and may require the priest to be bribed first. Because of this cost to the player and the additional level of interaction, it is probably best to exclude them from automatic acquisition. However, a possible alternative is to drop the rather unnecessary 100g charge and grant the bounty automatically if no bribery is required.
