Certainly looks like an interesting idea...
However, rather than setting your Illusion attribute to 12, maybe a simpler method would simply be to make it so that all skills use your Fast Casting attribute? (Including attack skills - if you really want to slap someone with a sword you happen to have handy despite having no actual points in the attribute, why not?) - I had thought of that as well, but here's what concerns me about simply using your fast casting attribute. Basically, let's say you love this skill and get, say, 15 fast casting to maximize its use. You would then have 15 with every copied skill you cast. Including the skills that your ally might only have, say, 9 or 12 point invested in. Or 0 points in. You'd basically have Master of Magic +3, minus the energy regeneration. But for any profession you copy. In a non-elite skill. Not to mention that with 15 fast casting, you'd be casting all of the spells you copy nearly twice as fast. Setting Fast Casting to 12 and using the Fast Casting attribute also has the problem that it'll either boost or subtract from your fast casting attribute with anything you copy. So I figure it's best to use an attribute that has no passive effects.
- Also, I originally thought it should only affect spells, like Signet of Illusions does. But that'd make copying certain professions (such as the ritualist) limited in use. On the other hand, copying and using attack skills would often require you to change weapons, not to mention HAVE those weapons in the first place. Which is annoying and unprofessional in terms of game design. Not to mention that mesmers are squishy. So while a fun concept, I'm not sure that it'd be terribly useful. - Hmm, there isn't really anything useful a Mesmer can do. The fastest builds are *blow up everything* builds, which is just something Mesmers aren't really good at and, as you know, being fast is the only criterium for a good build in PvE anyway (since almost anything can beat it). - Wouldn't this idea work better as the elite Symbols of Inspiration? --Falconeye 06:00, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
