Guild Wars Wiki:Formatting/Guilds
From Guild Wars Wiki

Jump to navigationJump to search
This page is an accepted formatting guideline on the Guild Wars Wiki. It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that all contributors should follow. Before editing this page, it is suggested to gather consensus on the talk page first. |
These formatting guidelines apply to all guild articles in this wiki.
General guidelines[edit]
- All guild articles should try to conform and adhere to the guidelines presented here, to maintain consistency in all guild pages. Please bear in mind that your guild page is not your guild's homepage. It is only to document your guild.
- Just like any other page on the Guild Wars Wiki, all guild articles should be written using a third-person perspective.
- The guild pages policy requires that the
guild
tag be included at the top of the page to mark it as an article on a guild. - Guild pages should also include the template
guild infobox
, which stores basic information about the guild. - Information regarding the alliance the guild is in should be represented by the
alliance nav
template. This template allows for links to the guild that leads the alliance, as well as all member guilds in the alliance. Remove it if the guild is not in an alliance.
Naming[edit]
- Guild articles are limited to the
Guild:
orUser:
namespace. Any articles created outside these namespaces will get deleted without warning. - All guild articles must be titled with the full in-game name of the guild, including case formatting. Hence, a guild named "Zealots Of Shiverpeak" would create an article by the name
Guild:Zealots Of Shiverpeak
.
Images[edit]
- The policy also requires that the
guild image
tag be added to the description of all images used in the guild article. This includes the guild cape and any banners or screenshots. Non-conforming images may be deleted without warning. - Name images used for guild articles in the following manner: Image:Guild <guild name> <optional part>.jpg. For example Image:Guild Example Guild cape.jpg for the cape image of the guild Example Guild.
- Do not abuse image use by adding a lot of images or by using large images. Take note of the image use policy as well.
Content[edit]
- Any major achievements of the guild (defined as specified on http://www.guildwars.com/community/notableguilds/ or in the List of gold trimmed guilds) should be listed on the guild page.
- A small section regarding general play style, preferred build types, and philosophy of the guild is encouraged.
- Facts about the guild such as a picture of the guild cape, the guild tag, the style of play the guild prefers (PvP, PvE), the territory the guild plays for, the faction that the guild has allied itself with (Kurzick, Luxon), and the approximate size of the guild should be displayed in the
guild infobox
template. - The guild infobox template also includes optional sections for information regarding the guild hall, as well as any VoIP communication (TeamSpeak, Ventrilo) servers and IRC channels that the guild makes use of.
- While a small description of recruitment policies is allowed, all actual recruitment, especially applications and discussions, should not take place on the Guild Wars Wiki. Linking to a recruitment page on your website is a good idea.
- Contact information should be listed. This includes (but does not require) links to the website/forums that the guild uses, and a short (not a complete roster) listing of important in-game contacts. Note that only a list of names should be posted, not detailed information about the players.
- Any sort of defamation or personal attack is categorically disallowed. In general, guild articles should not discuss other guilds. This includes statements such as "unlike other guilds, Example Guild has only friendly members."
Large guilds[edit]
- Guilds that are made up of more than one division should create one article under the primary name of the guild. For example, all of the divisions of Xen Of Onslaught would be combined into one article found at
Guild:Xen Of Onslaught
, rather than on individual pages. - A redirect to the primary article should be created at each sub-guild name to facilitate searching.
- Articles for multiple-division guilds should include a short section describing the specific focus of each division.
Categories[edit]
- Use Category:PvE guilds, Category:PvP guilds or Category:PvX guilds to show the preferred game types of the guild.
- Use Category:Recruiting PvE guilds, Category:Recruiting PvP guilds or Category:Recruiting PvX guilds if the guild is recruiting players of a certain game type.
- Use Category:Farming guilds, Category:GvG guilds, Category:HA guilds and Category:Running guilds to show primary interests of the guild. Note that these should only be used if the guild primarily concentrates in these tasks.
- Use Category:American guilds, Category:Chinese guilds, Category:UK guilds, Category:French guilds, Category:German guilds, Category:Malaysian guilds, Category:Polish guilds, Category:Taiwan guilds, etc to show the nationality of the guild. Note that you should use Category:International guilds if your guild does not concentrate on players of a specific nationality/language.
See Guild Wars Wiki:Formatting/Guilds/Category table.
Example[edit]
See the Example Guild page.
Template[edit]
You may copy the following to easily start a new guild page. Note that you should remove any categories from the bottom that do not apply to your guild, as well as the "OR" text.
guild-stub guild ==Guild Name [Tag]== ==Recruitment== ==Contact information== OR OR OR OR
