CURRENT GUILD

The Misanthropes were founded in the Winter of 2006 by Teslin Ridenour, and the guild's membership hovered around 30-40 for most of its lifetime. Current membership numbers are unknown, as many players are inactive and are being contacted to return to the game. We are mainly PvE oriented and do a lot of farming, helping out, and other things related to that, especially Eye of the North dungeons, ToPK, and Fissure of Woe. We are listed as a PvE guild, but we do AB sometimes to get things that will help us in PvE, such as Luxon skills or to raise our Luxon rank to make those skills better. And we love to cap when we AB. Swarms are bad!

Unfortunately, The Misanthropes went inactive around the Summer of 2008. Disappointed with the manner in which ArenaNet was handling skill changes and the balance between PvP and PvE, the guild leader, Tristan Darkedge, quit and handed the reigns over to another member. Much of the history from this time period is lost, as many members soon followed suit and also went in-active. Guild Leadership was baton-passed between a few people before landing in the hands of Mouret Chamdar, rather suddenly and unexpectedly. He is doing what he can to try to revitalize the guild and bring it back to the heyday of PvE excellence it once had.

This consists, currently, of attempting to contact old members to bring them back into the fold, as well as a recruitment drive to find new, respectful members who are willing to help us reinvigorate the guild and revitalize the atmosphere of camaraderie for which it was once known. All the old ideals once championed by Tristan Darkedge were instilled into Mouret Chamdar, so most of what is listed in the Historical Section remains true for what members remain.

GUILD HISTORY

We focus on maximizing our experience because a lot of us have lives outside of the game that require a lot of attention otherwise. The age group of our guild is mainly young adult, so we expect maturity out of our members, and we respect one another. If a build seems off, we advise how it can be improved without insult. However, we do joke around a bit, and our guild chat can be pretty entertaining to listen to. One of the things we love at TM is taking the metagame and telling it to go to hell. Our guild is very right-brained, but we get things done in the same amount of time a metagame, left-brained organization does, with more creative license and originality.

Guild runs are what we thrive on. Considering that most of us have erratic schedules, we have to really plan when we want to get together for a coordinated event. We're usually laid back and do things when people need them done, but the big events like our Fissure runs tend to bring about amazing synergy.

Our staff of officers is experienced and helpful per the standards set by Tristan Darkedge, the guild leader. All of them have completed at least two of the three campaigns, and they stay active with a good zeal for the game and the people of the guild. We have experts for each profession available, and we are always open to new build ideas. Sometimes we have build workshops to compare notes, especially when it comes to classes that have been hit hard with skill balance updates. We've done great things to make Mesmers and Paragons keep viability, and constantly are looking for new ideas.

Recruitment

We try to not spam recruitment messages in town. Instead, we prefer to go into high-yield areas (and sometimes lower-level mission areas to help people out) and look at how someone plays before we approach them for recruitment. Not that we are looking for the best of the best, but we do want to make sure that our recruits fit in and don't feel awkward.

As far as requirements for joining, we want mature people who enjoy the game just as much as we do. Activity is an issue. As we are currently in the process of revitalizing and reinvigorating the guild, we would prefer people who will play consistently, though of course we don't expect constant attention! Many of our older members are still on inactive status, until they can be contacted to return to the game.

You don't have to be strictly PvE to join. Know that we don't do much PvP, but that we do enjoy what we do. And we'll come with you if you want to HA or whatever. Just know that we focus on PvE. If you like farming, we know some of the best spots. If you like doing high-yield areas, this is the perfect spot. We love to challenge ourselves at TM, because challenge makes us better. Vanquishing, HM missions, difficult dungeons, you name it when it comes to PvE, there will be someone willing to run with you!

Contact information

Our leader's name is Mouret Chamdar. He's usually online in the evening and at night. Vingyr Bloodbane is our only other active Officer, though Lanis Deathblade and Assasin Kitty also hold positions. If you are interested in what we have to offer, PM someone and ask! Mouret will make sure random PMs won't be ignored.

We have a forum at http://www.misanthropes.proboards67.com, though this is, sadly, mostly inactive.
