Faction Amount[edit]

I'm sure someone knows, how is faction awarded in this mission? I'm trying to figure out the fastest non-pvp way to gain faction, so that when I get around to it I wont have to wait around for 15minutes before an AB starts >< As a side note, I'm sure there is some text in-game that will tell me this, but I've not read it, nor do I plan to until I get to that point. Just trying to do some planning before hand :) 68.104.205.160 05:46, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

I remember that I posted the info on the other wiki site. it does as follow :

Rewards[edit]

The reward is exactly Trunc(P*R) faction, Trunc(P*R/2) experience and Trunc(P*R/4) gold.
P = Point Scored.
R = Ratio = 2000/(best 90 days score).
The higher the best 90 days score is, the lower the ratio will be.

  • If you beat the high score for the 1 day you are rewarded with an additional 2000 Kurzick Faction and 500 gold.
  • If you beat the high score for the 30 day you are rewarded with an additional 4000 Kurzick Faction and 1000 gold.
  • If you beat the high score for the 90 day you are rewarded with an additional 8000 Kurzick Faction and 2000 gold.

Vezz 23:02, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

While there is clearly some truth to that formula, something is off with the "best 90 days score" value. I've been checking what it should be based on the rewarded faction/gold and score, and values do not fit the score chart, and change too often to be "best of 90d". Just now I got 1205 faction / 301 gold for a score of 88, which requires the "best of 90d" to be 146, but the chart say it is 174, in the last day or so I also got numbers that indicate it should be 172, 142, 132. so (1) those were not the "Best of 90d" values at the time, and (2) once a "best of 90d" goes up, it shouldn't go down for at least 90d... My guess is that (1) it is based on best daily and not monthly, and (2) the score chart has some delay in updating, making it show somewhat obsolete values. That's all I have for now, would love some input by anyone who might care. Foo 08:53, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
I'm not sure that any of the challenge mission records NPCs even update anymore. I think it started around 2013-15 when things got automated / moved to AWS. Durp da durp (talk) 21:49, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

Redirect[edit]

I am redirecting Amatz Basin (explorable area) here because this mission has no explorable area Shard 01:50, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Notes[edit]

I didn't really know where to put the note about this being easily shadow formed. Excuse me if its in the wrong location. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 00:18, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

When I indicated spirit heals this was because the person who isn't the perma tank stays at edge of compass as far from portal as possible, with the spirits to heal far from the wardens. There is no danger of them dying prematurely there. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 22:53, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Premature fail[edit]

Anyone know exactly why the mission ends early for some reason? I think it might be if a certain NPC agros, or if all of two groups of refugees dies in one spawn...Mon Pare 07:25, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Some Guidance for us not using PermaForm Sins?[edit]

How about some hints for us when not able to have PermaForm Sins, maybe if we only have heroes and henchies? Susan 14:56, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

I'd second this, I got about 50 points with a discord group + henches, dual discord or sabway might get ~100. --Nela 03:28, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
If you have one perma sin, you can use your hero/hench party to guard the right side, while you keep the middle busy. I can get 150 with this pretty reliably, which yields +/- 2k faction. There are easier ways to get faction, but its fun to get on the board with just one player. If I am not perma sinning, I use mm, spirit spammer, ele and henches pinned on the right side. I get about 65pts doing that, it's good if you are doing household chores and come back every 10 minutes while the h/h do all the work for around 1k faction.
I have just discovered this, 1K every 10 minutes or so for afk farming with hench/heroes is not bad if you really feel the need to gain a few points faction... T1Cybernetic User T1Cybernetic Glob of Ectoplasm.png 22:08, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
So, since permasins got nerfed this is virtually impossible, right? Lou Wolfskin 06:27, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
acutally, i just perma'd easily to 35 points and then failed at emanagement cause i suck at perma. i think it's still doable... --83.79.45.174 22:56, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Honestly i hope this will get a rework at some point since it's impossible for balanced teams to get even near the 100 points mark and that just can't be right, at least that point should be in reach so you can get the 1K bonus on your max. faction. Lou Wolfskin 10:53, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Confused .. are points and faction earned the same thing (apart from the bonus)? If so, I just racked up 1k in faction/points (incl a 370 faction reward) with hardly any effort at all, and don't see the problem. Just stood a team of heroes and henchies on the right hand side and joined in occasionally with my player. If faction earned isn't the same as points, how are points defined? Kirbett 22:17, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Points are what you see displayed in the green bar. Faction is the blue numbers that appear over your head. --Irgendwer 00:13, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Can someone post a working perma sin build for this? i keep failing either at emanagement or because i get KD'd with my pants down (SF running out or casting something else). --83.78.168.20 23:14, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
after several more tries, i found an Obsi tank to work a LOT better. go /mo for balth'spirit and essence bond, keep up Obsidian Flesh and Ward of Stability, and whenever possible Stoneflesh aura. Stoneflesh aura WILL run out from time to time, to back it up get Kinetic Armor. and make sure to have 5 air magic, you'll be weakened constantly. i managed to get 71 points like this, but died once there were enough wardens to kill me in the 2 seconds Stoneflesh aura was down. a big problem was that ranger wardens would just 2shot refugees sometimes, killing a whole group instantly with splinter weapon. i'm stuck, please help. --83.78.168.20 00:47, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Try Glyph of Swiftness instead of Deadly Paradox, Unseen Fury to avoid knockdown, Shroud of Distress, and Armor of Earth. Renewing Shadow Form and one other enchantment every time Shadow Form recharges means you only use 25 energy roughly every 25 seconds. As for the refugees, standing well to the side of the path and aggroing everything in sight will keep them alive. --Irgendwer 02:46, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

(reset indent) ty for the tip with unseen fury, i'll have to try that. didn't even think of just blinding them =/. --83.78.17.73 04:09, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

worked like a charm, until @ 83 points one of those luckers hit devhammer trough blind right when i was casting glyph =/ my heroes were able to keep going, but at 94 time ran out ZOMG.... /ragequit--83.78.17.73 05:13, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

I've been working on a suitable build that's useable by non-sin or non-ele primaries. It's not perfect, but it seems to work ok:

Lots of energy and a weapon of 20% enchanting are a must. Skills #1-5 are self-explanatory. #8 is an emergency heal. #6-7 are condition removal; if you try to cast SF while suffering from weakness, there will be a tiny window of downtime, and a mesmer will inevitably manage to screw you over during that window. If your primary prof has a cheap condition-removal skill (e.g. Dismiss Condition, Remedy Signet) then use that instead of SoM; otherwise slot a cheap condition-applying skill into #6 (e.g. Armor of Sanctity, Signet of Weariness). --Wormwood 02:39, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Update: I was finally able to get 100 points using a variation of this build, but I was accompanied by a perma SF sin. --Wormwood 21:29, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

This can burn in hell. I hate it. Worse than the Nightfall Pac Man. Previously Unsigned 22:35, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, anybody ever do this? The place is dead and honestly I suck at it. I need it for the last 1000. Paying 30k if you can help. Previously Unsigned 01:58, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
If you haven't, attempt it in HM. The enemies go up a handful of levels (~level 26) while the NPCs you must keep alive become level 20. I found it much easier. Also found wells useful - along with a lack of an MM or SoS rit. Konig/talk

Finally![edit]

I stopped trying this challenge a year or two ago, but just recently thought I'd give it a go again. I tried a split team and sweeping from side to side only to come up short (87 was my best). I'm playing a Warrior so I figured I'd try SF with a bonder and tank the middle and have the rest take the right (easiest side to hold and shortest distance for the refugees to run). It worked like a charm.

My build: Strength = 12+1+3 Shadow Arts = 12 Deadly Arts = 3

For those that know the skills better, the bonder might be simplified, but it worked just fine as is. The main team consisted of four Necros and two Dervs. Their builds are:

  1. OAhjYgHcoO5B7QlgPPMlmV1kLA
  2. OAhjQwGYoO+BDxgAsNMlmV1kLA
  3. OAhiYwhMZtNONMlxINlAWVlcBA
  4. OAhjUwGc4Q1MdBpBfBqBKgVVJXA
  5. OgijEOpMLTbbAYWgcf2XlXGbJXA (x2)

Upon entering, go right and flag the main team as shown below.

User Sardaukar AmatzBasinMainTeam.jpg

You basically want the main team’s aggro to include the corner of the fence so that the team clears the two spawns to the right and behind and also clears anything that comes along that corner of the fence to ensure safe passage of the refugees. Set the main team to “fight” mode.

After flagging the main team, take your bonder and head for the middle door. Start to cast the enchantments on you. The timer will have started by the time you’re set. Flag the bonder and set him to “Avoid Combat.” If you are a non-primary Assassin, you will need something to maintain your Shadow Arts attribute at 13 since the Warden of Forests use Devastating hammer and cause weakness. Candy corn, golden eggs or a Grail of Might will do (be sure to bring 2 eggs since they only last 5 minutes and the challenge lasts for 10 minutes). You’ll also need a high energy staff (20e) with an “Enchantments last 20% longer” mod. Approach the Wardens, casting Shadow Form before you reach them and use “I Am Unstoppable!” to avoid getting knocked down. Aggro the group on the path and move to the right and tank as shown below.

User Sardaukar AmatzBasinTank.jpg

You’ll want to hold the aggro so that the wardens are focusing on you and leave enough room for the refugees to slip buy. Once you get in position just maintain Shadow Form. I've done this twice, getting over 100 points each time. Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 03:06, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Primary Assassin + 7 Heroes (Bonder + Average Main Team)[edit]

Following Sardaukar idea, I made it with my assassin and even hit New High Score (121).

Main team composition was a 100b, SF Nuker, B Surge, MM, 2 UAs.

I chose to change IAU for Dwarven Stability and used Alcohol to ensure 100% anti-knockdown. Glyph of Swiftness wasnt used but had it just in case. Shadow Sanctuary and Feigned Neutrality in case SF is rupted which never happened either. Bonder monk had all skills "disable"d except Blessed Signet.

Good luck. Yoshida Keiji 14:17, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Just spiritway the West side + you can stay alive attention with just SF, Shroud, Glyph + IAU with dark escape + dwarven stability to maintain it. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 16:41, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Sardaukar and Yoshida Keiji. I used your tips and managed to score 141, daily best (I beat Yoshida's 121 on the same day) :D . I was having some trouble with KD's but mamaged with Enduring Harmony + "I Am Unstoppable!" + "Don't Trip!" (i rarely used the last one but brought it because my norn rank wasn't high enough for enduring to keep up IAU indefinetly). Since i had no booze i figured this one was the best combo i could figure out for primary assassins since Dolyak Signet is strength. Hope it helps others as much as it helped me ^^. This is all fine and dandy[edit]

But I am at the front door, and I am not allowed to enter!? Obviously, I'm missing something. What might it be?

What exactly are you talking about? You're in mouring veil falls and can't enter the outpost? That would be really strange, never heard of that before.
Or are you talking to the Kurzick Gatekeeper? If you want to get to the FIreworks Master and the discount Merchant, then you need to be a member of the guild who controls the outpost. That's the case for every Factions town which can be controlled by a guild.
Or can't you enter teh Challenge Mission? Then you need to hit the Begin Challenge button in the party formation window. Steve1 (talk) 15:19, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
