"This area is more or less 2.5% of Elona." Umm what is it? lol Also, someone forgot the simple word 'then'. :P ~ Reaper 14:55, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

I deleted it. If someone wants to readd it, ok. Limu Tolkki 13:50, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Barbary coast anyone?[edit]

I'm not sure if this would be a full on reference or not, but there are a lot of similarities.Tambora 18:28, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Nah, barbarous is a relatively common word (and its various conjugations). Calor Talk 18:38, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't think so too. Aside from the name, could you elaborate on the similarities that you think are there? -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 03:02, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
North African based environment, sea based pirates.Tambora 16:46, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
The whole of Nightfall is primarily themed on Africa. But then again, the first paragraph in "corsair" does seem to suggest it. Hmm.... we could just point to the existence of such a real-life place I guess. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 02:16, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
I know the whole area is based on north Africa/middle east, but the elements do combine together in a way that makes it a possible reference. (I am actually on the fence about this, despite how the discussion appears. It does seem quite possible that people on A-net came up with north African/middle east based, added the corsairs, and decided ot throw in the reference, but it is different enough to seem possibly coincidental.)Tambora 14:10, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
I have the official paper map of Elona (CE) and on it the Barbarous Shore is actually called Barbarous Coast...
On another note, it says in the text that this is the area furthest east in Elona, this is not true. Both the Wilderniss of Bahdza and Resplendent Makuun are further east. It is however the furthest east in Kourna. (Or my map is crap ^_^) 82.169.112.106 00:09, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Great, thanks! -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 03:43, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Weird door in the north[edit]

does anyone have an interesting theories about that door? i came across it today when exploring, i assume a boating town would have been behind it, this would be another alternative mission to get into vabbi via the underground river. This would be used in margids path, due to the high amount of corsairs in the area that would be fitting. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Dandan X (talk).

Possibly. Or it could just be a door that's not meant to go anywhere. Or it may lead to Utopia, but we don't know and there's no info on it, so we usually leave out speculation from articles. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 14:53, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
if you keep enough distance you can see the typical NF portal animation
Any update on this access doorway??Undouble 19:19, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
Nope. It's still as mysterious as ever.24.138.8.13 15:09, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
I just saw this gate and the "portal" for the first time. Honestly, the above theory that this may have originally been Margid's path into Moddok Crevice seems entirely plausible. The river goes from this particular gate all the way up to the mission outpost. Looking at the shape of the space behind the gate, I even wonder if this is where Camp Hojanu was originally planned to be at one point. Perhaps there would have been a quest leading the player here to this alternative "Camp Hojanu", find Margrid's contact, and have them ferry the team up the river and to the mission outpost. If so, I would guess the reason they scrapped it may have been so it'd be consistent with Master of Whispers' route since finishing Rilohn Refuge mission automatically teleports the player to Moddok Crevice. --Leviticus Lo -Talk PvE Sap 14:21, 20 June 2023 (UTC)

Updates to Notes[edit]

I made the following changes to the notes:

  • Removed the LB rank limit; I was able to obtain the elemental bounty at Lightbringer Rank 4.
  • Modified the preserved iris note; as far as I can tell, there is only one preserved iris flower (and it is in a chest, not on the ground as the ordinary irises are).
  • Reworded the Corsair boss caution, removing the parts that are true for any HM/VQ.
  • Removed the Mandragor notes - I was only able to trigger 5-6 groups and mandragors are frequently hidden (so this is not a unique feature of the zone).
  • Reworded the VQ note to be comparable to other such notes. Simplified the mandragor avoidance tip.

I believe there is a bug with the Elemental Hunt in this area. I have not started working on it yet, (I have 0 points) but it would not give me the bounty. I have gotten the bounty elsewhere. Perhaps it is because I have level 8 Sunspear, and none of the Wandering Priests want to give me the bounty. I don't know how the cap for Lightbringer is supposed to work. BWags 04:11, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
The Elemental Hunt bounty is given by Whispers Informants, not the Wandering Priests. Also, the cap is LB Rank 5 in Normal Mode. If you are already LB Rank 5, you won't get the bounty in Normal Mode. Cyryl Chevalier 22:30, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Vanquishing[edit]

I vanquished a total of 173 foes in this area. I encountered one mandragor spawn. I would recommend being careful on the boss groups. Carefully pull them. Bring a tank if possible. Also there is a group of Lioness on the far East of the area. Make sure to not miss them. --65.0.109.30 03:45, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

158foes, 55min, vanq/mapping. Obviously watch out for Sandstorm. The corsairs have a few monks in the ranks so a daze/int goes along way. If mapping be sure to walk out on a couple of the docks that reach into areas you cannot get too. Some of them merely reach across the bay so do nothing but at least one goes into water you cannot simply walk on the opposite shore. Aggro is the obvious enemy here. Justice 09:38, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

If vanquishing following the advice given in the notes and you have taken the S route across the river, then if after you have taken out the lions you don't get the "vanquishing complete" pop-up, this is because you haven't fully cleared the west half. There are only hidden mandregors further north in the eastern half. Check the large area shown as mottled brown NE of where the group of bosses were - there are three corsairs in a village in the middle of it. Moebius the Malign 18:23, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Skill capping[edit]

Barbarous Shore. We meet again. You are still no match for Mineral Springs though. 81.170.253.215 20:08, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
