I would say it's more likely to be a reference to the book "The Black Pearl" by Scott O'Dell. It's a story about a boy who's dream it was to find the largest pearl in order to gain his father's respect. It was a Newberry Honor Book.Kyle Vleck 05:00, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
