Can the weapons made from these be used in Pre-Searing? IrishRedneck 18:42, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Sure, if you find a way to smuggle them there. Foo 19:25, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
Problem is, if you find a way to smuggle them in there, you will more than likely meet the other end of the ban stick... that, or be forced to sear. So the true answer should be "they can't, since you can not make these weapons in pre-searing".--Fighterdoken 19:33, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
I mean--Can they be made by character1, but used by new, level 1, character2 when you start? IrishRedneck 19:22, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Figured it out. No access to X Box by Pre-Searing new character! Doh! IrishRedneck 18:19, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Think these are dropped by the dummys on Isle of the Nameless like on Halloween? — Eloc 07:16, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Candy Cane Shards dropped during Halloween? How come nobody told me?! Sora267 19:46, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm talking about the Trick-Or-Treat bags. — Eloc 21:13, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

best place to farm[edit]

well the best place to farm is to do strength of snow quest then abandon it and do it again. got 27 shards in one go and you have a chance of getting the mini bear!

Not necessarily, A run through Snowball Dominance can last 2~3 minutes when done well, where a run through Strength Of Snow can take about 10~12 minutes, Even at lowest efficiency you will get more on average doing fast runs of snowball dominance, however luck isn't always on your side in snowball dom, nor is it in Strength of Snow, so this is debatable, but you're always guaranteed 10 shards from SD, whereas not always "27" wil drop from SoS 'kills'

I agree. In addition to 10 shards, Snowball Dominance will give you 5,000 Experience, 500 Gold, 500 Vanguard reputation points and 5 Frosty Tonics. With a decent team, you should be able to clear it in less than 2 minutes; some users are even reporting clear times under 1 minute. Yeah, you lose the chance to get a Miniature Polar Bear, but you never really had a chance in the first place.

how many candy cane shards PER GAME?[edit]

I mean, the game 'Nine rings' costs 10 festival tickets (10x15 gold = 150 gold)

Does anyone know HOW MANY candy cane shards this game (similar to) Nine rings will cost per game? (I'm estimating the cost of lucky title farming this way) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

You do not play Nine rings. The Nine rings was adapted and used to decide which God/Goddess wins in each town and which had you get. Btw thanks for the laugh. User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 23:05, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Costs 1 shard per round and awards up to 5, iirc. - Tanetris 23:19, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
LOL you actually need them for the finale. Thats lame. I liked when you knew what had you were gonna get. Now its up to chance. User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 23:21, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your answer, Tanetris. 1 ccs per round, can anyone else confirm this? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

I want to know if the game lasts longer than the 15 minutes? or is it ongoing throughout the 2 days? --Hultah Hassmore 19:05, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Salvage Yield[edit]

The shards are listed as a salvage item, but there isn't any salvage data here. know what you can salvage from these things? Perhaps I'll sacrifice a few to find out... --Threid Threid's talk page 04:20, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

One pile of glittering dust. I've heard rumours that on a critical salvage roll (natural 20), you might get two piles. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 04:21, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Interesting. I salvaged 25 candy cane shards with an expert salvage kit, and received 1 Pile of Glittering Dust every time. I'll try another 25 to confirm or shed doubt on the rumor. --Threid Threid's talk page 04:31, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
What an expensive research project; thank you for taking the time. FYI there are items that have a very low rates of useful salvage. e.g. 97 of 100 Demonic Relics expert sal into bones instead of M. Claws or Fangs.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 06:01, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
After another 25 candy cane shards, and another 25 piles of glittering dust, it seems unlikely that there's a 5% chance to salvage 2 piles. --Threid Threid's talk page 20:02, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
If its only a 5% chance, you could go hundreds and never hit on that. Basing your assuption on 50 times is a little premature don't you think? 19:32, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

The trivia is not entirely true. The Old Nickoles quests neither award Candy Cane Shards nor Wintersday Gifts. 08:26, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
