Talk:Canthan New Year 2011

Just putting in some information which will probably be true, to get the ball rolling. It isn't that long until the event happens, right? As a guess however, I'm betting that Winds of Change may be connected to the Canthan New Year this year. It would make sense. Tashiro 09:01, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

I understand what you are doing, but please put a clear tag on top of the page stating that it is based on pure speculation (or qualified guessing) and not actually confirmed by ANet - If not, I know I'll have guildies crawling all over me asking me, when on friday this starts. And btw .. It will most likely last from friday feb 4th through sunday feb 6th. --Manassas User Manassas Mannysig.png 09:51, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
Did it myself--Manassas User Manassas Mannysig.png 10:02, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, I didn't actually know the tag. Tashiro 22:23, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Date[edit]

Well, I suppose we shouldn't put it up when it's not certain, so I'm just leaving it in discussion. I'd guess that the even will be between the 4th to the 6th of February, seeing as how they usually synchronize the Canthan New Year with the Chinese New Year, which takes place February the 3rd this year. But, seeing as how they could surprise us, I'll just leave it here, and not on the page itself, as mentioned. Neko-Mirn 15:10, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, and there's a typo: The 2011 Canthan New Year is an event which run from Friday to Sunday. run-s-. Sjeng talk 19:43, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, fixed. Tashiro

OMG ... please don't let this years CNY turn into a spam fest of that on Wiki. --Manassas User Manassas Mannysig.png 15:31, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Wrong times, move each of those up 3 hours, and probably I am the only one hosting this year. The Savior 15:32, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

The only one? .. are you kidding? There will be at least 100 hosted districts and most of them hosted for all 9 events. --Manassas User Manassas Mannysig.png 15:37, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
You're district has been taken by GW-EN, check out guru for a list of districts that aren't taken...--82.95.139.103 14:54, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Mystery Gift[edit]

I know it a bit weird, but I don't see any proof of having Celestial Summoning Stones as our "mystery gift" this year.

Quote: " and a special mystery reward! We'd like to summon a description of this gift for you—but then it wouldn't be a mystery, would it?" which is the exact same wording as last year. I think this is proof enough --Manassas User Manassas Mannysig.png 23:34, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
If you want further proof, look at the tab of your browser. It says Canthan New Year 2010. --'Mai Yi' talk 23:47, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Where's Waldo?[edit]

Does anyone know the location of Juen Bao, who is supposedly a NPC that appears during Canthan New Year? --Silver Edge 06:24, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

I don't see a link to any other page; Guild Wiki doesn't show him either. There's Jenah Bao (probably no relation) and a Yuen Bao, but no Juen. Yeun is located in Kamadan.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 06:33, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

[edit]

Post here if you know or are sponsoring a district. It might help to get the word out or spread some knowledge on which district is good to go and which are not. I've yet to check on the forum outlets if such information is posted as well. If any, if you know the thread and can post, copy/paste it over there. If info is missing here but is posted on the forums, copy/paste it here too.

It would have been a great thing[edit]

If they had given us the chance to take every celestial mini instead of just the rabbit because this is the last year before GW2 (I expect the game to be released before 360 days...). They revealed every single celestial model last year instead of just making celestial tiger stones, so they have the models of each one already done. Would be cool for people who owns the lates animals like the dog or the monkey as symbol to get it before GW2 instead ow wait till 2018 :S I know this was rabbit year's but they can still have the ceremony for the rabbit and still make the minis the same way they made the summoning stones Lokheit 15:46, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Collectors[edit]

Does the Lunar Fortune Giver and Lunar Gift Keeper disappear when the event is over, or do they hang around for a few days? Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 16:49, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

They stay for a few days. Ghosst I Make Dead PeopleTalk
In the past, they hung around for a week (pretty much true for major holidays with collectors of special drops). Expect at least through Thursday, but maybe through Monday. (And, with luck, we'll pay more attention this time so we can update the holiday page accordingly.)  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:26, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
