Talk:Canthan New Year 2013
Celestial miniature tokens[edit]
For Halloween, accounts could get two tokens and turn them in to two different NPCs. Will it be possible to get more than one miniature via token during this event? Shifuimam 00:28, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- Most likely only one token for Canthan New Year. Halloween and Wintersday allowed two tokens for each account because both of those events previously awarded two different festival hats each year. Also, Dragon Festival only provided one token. --Silver Edge 00:37, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- The only reason we received two was due to a patch that ArenaNet had to push. This allowed the Token quest to be completed a second time, granting two tokens instead of the previously-planned one. So unless ArenaNet plan to push another patch to Live to fix something, don't expect two! DonutxDude 19:18, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- For each holiday—including Canthan New Year—the quests to get a mini/hat token can be completed once per account. Halloween and Wintersday each have two of those quests. ~ Matthew Moore
- @ DonutxDude, actually that update allowed some accounts to receive a total of four tokens during Halloween 2012, not two. --Silver Edge 01:40, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- Additionally, the Wintersday and Halloween festivals are celebrated in both Kamadan and Lion's Arch, so there had to be a quest series for each (and coincidentally, hats for each deity and campaign) to allow players with only one of those campaigns to participate. As the Canthan New Year Festival finale is exclusive to Factions, only one token is sufficient to provide every account with a miniature, just like the 2012 Dragon Festival. The aforementioned update that Silver Edge mentioned was to reset the system after a patch (as opposed to hurriedly sorting through every account and reseting each affected one individually) to correct an inventory/festival quest reward issue. mini[edit]
Any word about the actual mini? Is it going to be a new one or will the token just give one from a previous year? I always figured that anet had all the celestial minis made already. 71.177.79.217 05:27, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Hosted Districts[edit]
I'm wondering if we should have users hosting a district post here on this page (as opposed to fansites). I and at least one of my guild members are prepared to host a district, but I will not register with any fansite (for security reasons...MANY have had breaches in the past). Perhaps even a separate page (userspace?) with a simple list of districts in numerical order, with a signature for any group that is going to commit 24 hours and 9 of each item would help? - This wiki does document Special event#Player-organized events, and you could use your user:pages and/or guild:pages. --Falconeye 02:53, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
Mask Token/Quest[edit]
Information is not presented here as it should be Rudhraighe 17:49, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- Canthan_New_Year_2013#Differences_from_2012 - reading is fun. Its always the same mask for Canthan New Year, so the token is for a miniature via Take My Sister, Please. --Chieftain Alex 18:11, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
Acquisition
Obtaining a festival hat for the first time requires three steps: Completing a relevant festival quest (each quest can only be completed once per account each year). Spirit of the Celebration during Dragon Festival Better You Than Me and Double Your Pleasure and RUN! during Halloween. Claiming the quest reward, a festival hat token. Turning in the token to the relevant festival hat NPC.
Since 2012, it can also be obtained by exchanging one Imperial Mask Token with Imperial Supply Master Kagno during the Dragon Festival.

Imperial Mask Token is awarded by completing the Dragon Festival quest Spirit of the Celebration, which can be completed once per account every Dragon Festival.
Acquire 250 Victory Tokens by participating in Dragon Festival events. See Noblewoman Sun Li for your reward.
- Let me help.
- Dragon Festival
- Now examine the page title. You get the mask every year if you turn up for the finale :/ -Chieftain Alex 18:37, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
non-weekend finale[edit]
Is this the first GW1 holiday event with a non-weekend finale? Has ANet offered a reason for diverging from the past practice of always having the finale take place on Sundays? 75.37.20.148 08:34, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
- See http://eu.guildwars.com/news/article/canthan_new_year_is_almost_here/. Canthan New Year is now a week long event (instead of a weekend), hence the last day of the event (which is also the day when the finale occurs) will no longer be on a Sunday like previous years. --Silver Edge 08:46, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
- CNY has always been a week long event. The real reason is because they changed the event schedule to be automated and it apparently ignores days of the week. It's really unfortunate that they started it with this event, since Chinese New Year is actually this coming Sunday, and the finales are normally on a Sunday, so it would've been perfect. talk 15:11, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
- No, CNY was never a week long (seven day) event until this year (that started on a Thursday and will end on the following Thursday), which is also what is stated by ArenaNet in the link I provided above: "This year, the festival will be extended to a full week". Even in this edit of yours, you yourself claimed CNY was a four day event. In 2011 and 2012, CNY started on a Thursday and ended on the following Sunday. In the CNY events prior to 2011, it started on a Friday and ended on the following Sunday. --Silver Edge 20:46, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
- Kirbman, I guess you mismatch this event with the birthday event, which opened the boardwalk for a week (last time extended into 2 weeks), while CNY and the dragon festival were weekend events (with CNY having some few days up front) in the past. This might change as well along this year to make GW1 events automated.[[80.137.40.141 13:32, 8 February 2013 (UTC)]]
- Well that just sucks. I'm much busier this year than in the past, especially since this game now has a sequel. I thought the finale would be the weekend like it always was. As a result, I log in tonight to get the mini snake only to discover that the event ended Thursday night. Uh...I'm sorry but that's really unfair, not because of the pet but because most people work doing the week and can only play games on the weekends. Now sure, they may think no one will partake in this event because of Guild Wars 2, but that still isn't right if you ask me. Tender Wolf 02:04, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- Since the pet was independent of the finale, and you could choose one from ALL of the 12 Celestial animals, it was far from unfair. You could easily have acquired all the necessary tokens to get the pet on the weekend. All the finale provided was extra gift bags, so people really missed very little. 76.164.65.219 03:24, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
