Halloween 2012
Halloween 2012 was a Guild Wars in-game event that celebrated the annual return of Mad King Thorn.
Welcome to Halloween 2012![edit]
“
- The red moon rises and blots out the sun,
- Blanketing Tyria in midnight.
- We don our disguises and join in the fun,
- But we weren't alone on the invite.
- The Lunatic Court continues to churn;
- Their efforts not yet quite effective.
- But if we are treated to their king's return,
- Will the tricks that he plays be elective?
- Surprises and terror: they come hand-in-hand,
- No matter your cries for cessation.
- When fear is revered and it's dark in the land,
- It's a spine-chilling, grave celebration!

Differences from 2011[edit]
- Headgear
No new headgear will be released this year; however, headgear from previous Halloween events can be obtained by turning a Ghoulish Accessory Token into Erulis in Lion's Arch for a Lion's Arch festival hat or to Aahtan in Kamadan for a Kamadan hat. Ghoulish Accessory Tokens can be obtained by completion of Better You Than Me (given by Gul Terror in Lion's Arch) and Double Your Pleasure and RUN! (given by Malavaka in Kamadan). Only 1 Ghoulish Accessory Token can be obtained per quest per account, granting a total of 2 tokens per account. Accounts that have already completed one or both of these quests prior to the October 22, 2012 update can complete them again for a maximum of four tokens.
- New quests
- The aforementioned Ghoulish Accessory Token quests (Better You Than Me, Double Your Pleasure and RUN!).
- Evil Residents, Evil Residents Code: Harmonica, and Mad Little Pony.
- Finale
- "Changed the reward Mad King Thorn gives at the end of each finale; he will no longer dispense Halloween accessories" (source). A Minutely Mad King Tonic is added to the inventory of every character who stands in Mad King Thorn's "glowing circle" at the end of each final event.
- Other
- New skill bars and double Gamer point rewards for Costume Brawl.
- Quests from the Countess of Hakewood and Emissary of King Thorn of Kryta may now be taken and completed in any order (with the exception of Evil Residents Code: Harmonica).
- No new costumes will be released this year.

NPCs in Guild versus Guild have their models altered as follows:
Archer | Bodyguard | Footman and Knight | Guild Lord |
---|---|---|---|
The opposing Guild Lord drops 10 Trick-or-Treat Bags for each player of the winning team when he dies. To prevent exploitation, no rewards are offered if (a) the match ends after 28 minutes without either side killing a Guild Lord or (b) the battle ends in under 5 minutes (e.g. due to one team resigning or zoning).
Trivia[edit]
- This was the first Halloween event to not have a corresponding Halloween Art Contest.
