Eight years of Guild Wars and the party won't stop! From noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on April 22nd till noon on April 29th, you can join the games in Shing Jea Boardwalk, Dragon Arena, and the Rollerbeetle Races. For those out in the field, Birthday Cupcakes and many other special items will drop throughout the event. In addition, characters turning eight years old will receive a birthday voucher, exchangeable for the gift of their choice. This event celebrates eight sensational years of Guild Wars, and we want you to join us for our incredible anniversary party.

It’s time once again to throw open the Shing Jea Boardwalk, rev up the Rollerbeetles, and don our party hats for a week of festive fun from April 22nd to April 29th. In addition to the usual games and gifts, we’re packing this anniversary party with a number of great drops and activities!

We’re commemorating our anniversary with a huge party in Shing Jea Monastery and outposts all over Tyria.

Are you light on your feet? Speak with Captain Li Sah and test your dodgeball skills in the Dragon Arena! Do you feel the need for speed? Speak to the Rollerbeetle Trainer and take a spin in Rollerbeetle Racing. You’ll find both these NPCs in Lion's Arch, Shing Jea Monastery, Kamadan, and the Great Temple of Balthazar.

The fun doesn’t stop there. During the festival, keep your eyes peeled for special drops and be sure to stop by Embark Beach to talk to Ceira, Sworn to Fire. During the celebration, Ceira will distribute the anniversary Ranger pet: the Hound of Balthazar.

As an added bonus, characters celebrating eight or more years in Tyria will receive a gift card good for their choice of birthday gift boxes from years past. Xunlai Gift Givers have been stationed in Lion's Arch, Kamadan, Shing Jea Monastery, and the Great Temple of Balthazar to help with the exchange. Who says you can't choose your presents?

PvP

In Guild versus Guild during this event, the opposing Guild Lord drops 10 Birthday Cupcakes for each player of the winning team when he dies. To prevent exploitation, no rewards are offered if (a) the match ends after 28 minutes without either side killing a Guild Lord or (b) the battle ends in under 5 minutes (e.g. due to one team resigning or zoning).

Trivia

• Unlike the Seventh Year Anniversary Celebration, bonuses from all weekend events were not active during this event.
• This was the first Birthday Celebration without any new Birthday Presents. Instead, characters turning eight years old received a Birthday Present Voucher, which allowed them to obtain a Birthday Present of their choice.
