Talk:Cleansing Shenzun Tunnels

From Guild Wars Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

Quest dialog: Welcome back, my friend. If you have the strength to lend, I could use your assistance again. ALthough I confess, when you hear the task at hand, you might be reluctant to join me. Ministry scouts report concentrated number of Afflicted within the Shenzun Tunnels. This is going to be a massive battle, and just you and I will not be enought to handle it. We're going to need more support from the Ministry. They will send as much aid as they can spare, but most of their soldiers are currently engaged at Bejunkan Pier. The Afflicted came in overwhelming numbers and are cutting off incoming trade. We'll have to make do with whatever support we receive. However, if we are able to deal with the Afflicted there, we'll have dealt a serious blow to their numbers. I understand that traipsing around Canthan sewers is not the most appealing of tasks, but what do you say:

Challenges like this were meant to be overcome. And I'm sure the Ministry of Purity will pay enough that you could visit a bathhouse afterward.

Responses:

Let's get this done. Procrastinating won't make it any more palatable.
Do yo know how much these boots cost? I think I'll pass.

Uhm[edit]

Please direct me to said bathhouse. Idmz 00:10, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]

When the NPC's die and later auto rez, they are no longer on the ally list.Yae Mozs 01:53, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Starting Place[edit]

What's the best place to start for this quest? --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 02:45, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

The page says Maatu Keep, but I can't find anybody else doing the quest here, not in nm or hm. Ramei Arashi 05:38, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
I went with Sunjiang, which worked out fine. I don't think there's any bad option really. - Tanetris 06:35, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
From my experience, the best place to start is from Tahnnakai Temple (which oddly isn't noted as an option in the walkthrough). If memory serves, you only have to fight relatively few regular Am Fah (which can be easily handled if you're prepared for the WoC Afflicted) and only a single group of WoC Am Fah (which you may be able to avoid). Zei Ri says "we're", when it should be "were"[edit]

When?

its is an abreviation for we are, the we're is correct. bug note should be removedSpark-TBa 15:29, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Quest stuck: bug?[edit]

Initiate Jaw Long died but did not auto-rez: corpse still visible and quest has not ended except no more Afflicted assault.

Well, it seems to me this is a bug (I even went on chasing for remaining Afflicted up to Sunjiang District, to no avail).82.233.109.229 08:11, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Happened to me too. Added bug note, but am not sure if this just applies to Jaw Long, or if it can happen if another initiate dies.98.26.101.36 12:28, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

It happened to me, too. However, I then walked around a bit and looked at the tunnels to the west, and when I returned to the quest marker star, another group of Afflicted approached and the quest continued. 92.204.112.21 20:50, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

2nd mob from behind[edit]

It should be noted that the walkthrough states that one group will come from behind at the bridge, when actually two groups come. I haven't tested to see exactly when they are triggered, or what triggers them. I think its after one of the other mobs is finished that the second mob from behind is sent out. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by SiderFace (talk • contribs) at 12:41, 8 July 2011 (UTC).

Perhaps the mobs are somewhat random with their spawns...I had 3 groups from behind (STS) (Usaf1a8xx 18:07, 9 July 2011 (UTC))

Builds or Hero Suggestions[edit]

I have been away from GW for a while and just got around to finishing off WiK and decided to give the WoC quests a go and for some reason I just end up keep wiping, any suggestions or advice welcome. Lady Elyssa 22:18, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

It helps to follow the advice in the article and split the mobs up instead of standing ground in the middle.

Sadly and rather embarrassingly I have not even made it to the end to have the choice of splitting the mobs up. I know I am still a bit rusty and was wondering if there were particular classes or the odd skill that really makes a difference on this one. Lady Elyssa 08:32, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
I take it you are withdrawing from the main battle site during this quest - moving to the side and then pulling the smaller mobs? --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 08:36, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Have not been able to reach the main battle area on this one and keep getting wiped by the groups before even getting there. Have tried using SS, SV and IV builds for myself and including both a healer and prot monk, ele, ranger and 3 wars :( Lady Elyssa 20:53, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
I'd recommend some upto date 7 hero builds from pvx - particularly this one - or if all else fails/cba pm me in game and i'll tag along and help. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 20:58, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Chieftain, will give those a shot and hopefully it'll do the trick. Thanks for the input, much appreciated. UPDATE Collected the skills I needed for the builds to work and it works perfectly! Lady Elyssa 21:23, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Tactics[edit]

Just starting WoC in hard mode and thought that I would post what worked for me (no party deaths but lost some allies). Starting from Tahnnakai Temple, I followed the water (taking out the few Am Fah along the way) and went around the "horseshoe" path up around the rez shrine (near Lou, of the Knives) and back down the other side. Flag your heroes here (SE of the main battle area), go grab your allies, and run back to your team. (Zei Ri will stay where he started.) After the initial dialogue, a group of Afflicted will spawn near your team. Take them out and then flag your team on the other side of the bridge, where you'll now be on high ground near Zei Ri. Carefully (emphasized) pull single groups of Afflicted to your team. After each group is cleared, immediately retreat and watch for any groups spawning from behind you. It's very eazy to over agro when pulling, so be prepared to run. If you're lucky, you can finish the quest after only a few groups, leaving a lot left over. Lord Flynt 05:06, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
