So, is the Great Dwarf a god, or what? Yukiko User Yukiko Sig.png 04:31, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes. He is the god of the dwarves. It is often speculated that The Great Dwarf is the god Balthazar (and that The Great Destroyer is Menzies) ~ Emp 16:20, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
It was often speculated. It's pretty much been refuted in Eye of the North. -- Gordon Ecker 01:17, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
It was? I may have missed the details, but I'm not sure it was refuted... ~ Emp 19:09, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Not completely, but it's looking doubtful. The complete absence of the Shadow Army in Eye of the North makes it unlikely that the Great Destroyer is Menzies, and IIRC a Dwarf refers to Balthazar as one of the human gods. -- Gordon Ecker 22:45, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't know - Between the beacons and the finale, I got the impression from GW:EN that the Great Dwarf was actually Droknar.
He also created Tyria.--§ Eloc § 02:42, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
The statue behind the Hammer of the Great Dwarf is identical to the statue in Droknar's Forge, which is presumed to be a statue of Droknar. -- Gordon Ecker 05:00, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that was my original comment about Droknar up there. I forgot to sign it. I've gone through EotN a few more times since I posted that, and now I truly believe, more than ever, that the Great Dwarf is Droknar... --Mystisteel 04:50, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
I don't. How could Droknar get the blessing of the Great Dwarf if he was already the Great Dwarf? Also, all Dwarfs are to be dieing off soon in GW2, but a god like the Great Dwarf doesn't die that easily (well, we've all proven that we can take out any god with a party of 8, but that doesn't count ;P) — Eloc 06:19, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
I don't remember Droknar getting the Blessing of the Great Dwarf. When did that happen in the game? --Mystisteel 04:50, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Oops, must have been some other dwarf (they all look the same to me :P). — Eloc 02:48, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Adding to this, the majority of the dwarf's that you see after the changing are wielding Droknar reward items! :) --Mystisteel 18:47, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Thor[edit]

Why the heck is the Thor trivia added in? it's speculative and wrong. I'm from Scandinavia (where the Norse mythology comes from), and I'm sure I'm right when I say there's zero resemblance of Thor in the great dwarf. Thor is the god of thunder. Sure they both have a hammer, but I'm sure a lot of godlike entities both in RL and fictional mythologies have that too. It's important to note that Thor's hammer is a one-handed throwing hammer, which the great dwarf's hammer isn't. So could we please only have trivia, that have some sort of back up, instead of groundless speculation, otherwise we can just as well add trivia of bearded and/or dwarf like gods. Emp 06:19, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

The Hammer idea could have been based on Thor's in a way. It does no harm having it on. If you want, ask Emily about it.--§ Eloc § 14:54, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
I've asked Emily about it, so until we get a response, just leave it as it is. talk br12 • 17:59, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Alright, tell me what the response turns out to be. — Eloc 19:11, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
From User talk:Emily Diehl/Trivia archive 2 - "Hi br12! I spoke with the writers and they told me that no, the hammer was not based on the hammer of Thor. -- Emily Diehl". --Talk br12(talk) • 21:55, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
Wow, took long enough. — Eloc 00:45, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Took me a while to find it as well, it was archived as soon as the reply was written I think. --Talk br12(talk) • 15:19, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Even then, it took a Month to reply to the message. I suppose she was just busy or something. — Eloc 15:42, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

God would look better than NPC on this one, I think. WhyUser talk:Why Are We Fighting 21:31, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
