Why disambiguate?[edit]
Just a small note at s>your [TEF's] summary when you [he] changed this page, the page also links to Great Northern Wall wich is a page bout the actual wall. I guess thats the reason we have a disambiguation page for it. Nothing big, but wanted to point it out.Rumian 10:17, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
(maint: I changed modified pronouns for context: strike outs are Rumian's original text, [bracketed] words are the contextual replacements. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:05, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
- GNW is a very rare exception when we have a disambiguation page for location articles...probably because the landmark lacks the prefix of a definitive article (the).
- We never disambiguate to cinematic from location articles and I can't find any cinematic articles which include a disambiguation. I can see that we need them since they are equivalent to dialogue subpages for missions (when they share a name with location articles).
- Every other location article (that needs to) disambiguates at the top of the page.
- Accordingly, I think this article ought to be deleted and we should stick with the top-of-page disambiguations. If the standard template, {{location disambiguation}} cannot handle it (and it's too complex for its proposed replacement, User:Tennessee_Ernie_Ford/Sandbox/Location_disambiguation), then let's just manually disambiguate (not every page requires a template for this sort of thing). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:14, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
- Agreed. I don't see this article being useful, but that each other article should have it's own disambig. Even if it's manual and I'd be willing to help, if it needs to be manual. Seems easy enough to do. Kaisha 17:56, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Delete[edit]
{{Location disambiguation 2}} resolves the need for a disambiguation article on GNW.
- The mish/outpost now link to the landmark (despite its slightly different name).
- The landmark links the mish and outpost.
- Using the template reduces the need for future maintenance (since the template can/will take care of other potential articles with similar names).
- We don't otherwise have disambig articles just for the cinematics.

- No qualm for deletion except I wonder why does the location disambiguation not mark the cinematic page when it's used for interactive objects (which are not locations)? Konig/talk 23:17, 18 January 2012 (UTC)
- I manually added the Surmia monument for two reasons: the original Surmia (disambiguation) included it (it's an ambiguous name) and it's a physical location (a required visit for completing Cities of Ascalon.
- However, I wouldn't argue too strongly if others wanted to remove the links, by deleting
other=Historical Monument of Surmia|otherdesc=a monument
from {{location disambiguation 2}} on the relevant Surmia articles.

- AFAIK, this wiki has never intentionally chosen to link to cinematics articles via a note atop location articles. (Although a few of us (not including myself) have tried to add them to generalized disambig articles.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 23:31, 18 January 2012 (UTC)
