Call me old... I used to watch "Wok With Yan" which was a 1980-82 and 1992(?) CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp. via CBOT Ottawa, Ontario and later CBUT Vancouver, British Columbia) starring Stephen Yan. This predated "Yan Can Cook" starring Martin Yan (1982 PBS). There seems to be some conflicting references as to Martin Yan's work, and from what I have managed to find, there was only one season (1982) for "Yan Can Cook" (Martin hosted 1500 episodes???), with television guest appearances dating back to 1978 on CBC/CITV Calgary, Alberta. I do not know if game designers used either as inspiration ("Yan" is not an uncommon surname), and trivia is not crucially important (IMHO), but it may be worth a note for those who are interested.
