Opinion[edit]

one of the few skills that screws over your team.--Life Infusion «T» 05:43, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

maybe remove the "immunity to lightning" and instead add something like "And that foe gains +20 armor" might make it a tiny bit useful , teams could use cracked armor to counter that then :o *and yay another use for CA ^^* Aljazya 06:43, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
ops I ment "immunity to everything except lightning" :P Aljazya 06:43, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Yep, i agree there needs to be a change, maybe something like Target Foe Moves 90% Slower and takes 20% more dmg from Lightning, but gains Immunity to all forms of dmg but lightning", but i agree there needs to be more incentive, atm this is a niche skill and has no place in 99% of situations Crazy 11:20, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

that's why I love GWs. Not hundreds of cookie cutters but lots of nice skills that work well in calculated situations. It encourages diversity of buils and proper synergy. Coruskane 04:41, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Or just waiting till its over. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.56.224.99 (talk) at 22:48, 20 February 2008 (UTC).
I just had a thought, a sin with this and shocking dagger tangs. Might be an interesting combo, it'd be like Shadow Prison but suck less. Krelus Derian 15:59, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
The only thing that'd make that worth it was if you used Conjure. 96.228.50.82 20:14, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
That was me, I forgot to log in. Sora267 20:16, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, this is the kind of skill you need to build an entire bar around. If I ever get bored I might goof around with it someday. Definitely not something you'd want to take to RA, though. Krelus Derian 00:19, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

This is useful for Air Spikers, but that's about it... 72.209.41.202 02:49, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

I might use this skill when they let us have 7 heroes and I can make an entire group where everyone either does Lightning damage or does not need to do damage. Until then... Blargh. I wish it'd at least be very AoE (in the area, maybe, in earshot might be OP) or maintainable, so it'd be worth it. Like, maybe just same everything else but 10-second recharge... Even if that'd make it hella annoying in the wrong group. The current cost, casting time, and recharge, though, along with its affect, is just silly. One of them needs to be eased up a little. You need to build a group around this skill - make it marginally worth it? (BTW, I'm assuming Life Steal still works on foes affected by this? Because it's not technically damage...?) --207.233.110.65 19:59, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Good Question[edit]

If foe has Pacifism and Iron Mist, does it mean that the condition of Pacifism is never met, thereby meaning that a foe with Pacifism and Iron Mist could not attack until they receive lightning damage? Under Iron Mist, it isn't written that damage is reduced to 0. It is written that they are simply immune, implying it never even counts as damage. --Eyekwah 12:04, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

I would imagine (just theory) that immunity would mean the damage is never applied, even as a 0. In that case yes, they would be pacified until lighting damage. Not a bad combination for degeneration on a martial class. Barkingllama 02:42, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Wow, I had never thought of that. -AyaStowar
Iron Mist does reduce damage to 0, unfortunately. It may be a slight contradiction to the spell description, but Pacifism will end when the target is struck by anything, lightning damage or otherwise. --Srakin 20:06, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Could someone try it out? --Eyekwah 08:13, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Tested in the Isle of the Nameless against the Master of Axes. Using non-lightning damage on a target hexed with Iron Mist Iron Mist will cause Pacifism Pacifism to end. --Boogy User Boogy Sig.jpg (Talk/Contributions) 14:54, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Though it works with binding chains. Thats stupid coz binding chains already snare by 90% :( 90.48.69.104 01:27, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Practical Use[edit]

The only time I found this actually desierable was in Jokanur Diggings, to render the Sunspear Ghosts basically invulnerable from Kormir and any stupid heros. 99.253.146.20 02:51, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Good point. I could make this mission so much easier in HM as thats the only part you can really fail. Flaming Hot Chilli 01:06, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Useful in TA[edit]

With Master of Magic air spiking teams. Iron mist is put on a called target, Orb/Hammer spike, a finisher, and you're good. Tested it once and it's fun :> Chao 15:58, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

RA Pwnage[edit]

I love using this skill on my Obsidian Flesh tank, I always get a lot of compliments from my teamates Robot Ninja Pirate 20:20, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Robot Ninja Pirate

You sure about that? I'm sure your teammates aren't too happy when they can't spike the last guy cuz he has Iron Mist on him still..... 129.62.40.101

I just had to add that. Seriously. A shocking weapon mod to make it not suck? The Boz 00:07, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Icon[edit]

This is kinda cool though, if you look at it right it makes a face, but it's kinda creepy the way the face is, just a tiny bit anguished.

It's more like some iron ore sublimating or something. --RoyHarmon 20:00, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

hex or enchantment[edit]

id like to cast this on an ally (or myself)

seriously, i think this skill has such a powerfull backfire, that its more usefull to the enemie than to you

Could be useful to cast on your Monks or Nukers as they don't need to move anyway. AoE does no damage against them so no need to move from that too. 86.87.127.239 17:18, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Decent skill[edit]

You have to think of this skill like an improved version of Pacifism. What's wrong with Pacifism? Disables an enemy foe for about 17 seconds! What's not to like about that? Oh yeah.. ends when they get damage so stupid allies might end it quickly. Iron Mist doesn't end, so even unintentional damage is just wasted damage, not damage that undoes your hex. If you think about it that way, it's not bad at all. For 10 energy, you can disable any warrior, sin, or dervish for about 15 seconds time. Not too shabby...

All you have to do is tell your team "Don't worry about the tank, I'll take care of him. Hit casters first." If he's the only guy left and your team is calling you a n00b for having cast Iron Mist on him, remind them that he is, in fact, the last guy left on the team and therefore your team has won. They can bash your build all they want, but ultimately you've achieved results. Show them what Iron Mist can accomplish.

Ultimately, disabling 2 players is better than killing one, especially if it requires the devotion of 1 player to do it. So bring Iron Mist, cast it on an annoying warrior, and use Blinding Surge on a ranger to disable another. Done. You've disabled 2 foes and you haven't even broken a sweat. Be prepared to deal with that warrior and that ranger once the Blindness / Iron Mist wears off since you've created two sworn enemies. But then, you're arguably equipped for the job. Might be a serious advantage to take some heat from the rest of your team if you can handle it (taking advantage of a situation you know you'll be in is the nature of tactics, is it not?). --80.16.169.162 12:47, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Babysit an Enemy[edit]

This skill + Glyph of Renewal, can shield an enemy for you. With Illusion of Pain and Drain Delusions you can heal that enemy as well. An E/Me or Me/E then, might be able to "capture" something in PvP or PvE and babysit it... why? Maybe to exploit a quest, prevent a spawn or respawn, buy some time, whatever. Useful? Do any Creatures use this?[edit]

Really i have never seen it used on anything --User Ickoization sig icon.png Ickoization 02:38, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

You can take a look at Special:WhatLinksHere/Iron_Mist and look for any NPCs in that list. G R E E N E R 02:42, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
