Death[edit]

Doric wasn't killed, the "blood spilled" referenced in the King's Watch monument is a drop of blood from his hand which was used to seal the bloodstones. --94.171.77.82 19:32, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

A bit late but King's Watch in fact refers to his death: "in honor of the passing of the greatest of all kings" and "For it is through his sacrifice that we now live on". It is implied through King's Watch that the "single drop of blood" was in fact not what one would consider a single drop of blood. (I.e., Doric died when he gave that "drop" of blood). BTW, no where does it say "from his hand." -- Konig/talk 11:39, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
How old was he when he died? According to the calendar, he was crowned 100 years before the creation of the bloodstones... Mist Y 15:01, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
He was likely over 115 years old given the scriptures of Dwayna. But exact age is unknown, just knowing he was king for 99 years. Konig/talk 15:45, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Decendants[edit]

Rurik? or was he from Orr? which kingdom was his home...I think Rurik seems like a decendant Zachariah Zuan. 12:11, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Apparently King Adelbern is a descendant of Doric, so Rurik would be as well. Possibly not a direct descendant though since there is mention (mainly in two pre-searing quests) that Duke Barradin is the closest relation to Ascalon's old king, who was supposed to have been descended from Doric. 81.147.81.230 14:53, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
Ascalon's over a thousand years old, I wouldn't be surprised if all the nobles and most of the commoners in Ascalon had him as an ancestor. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 08:33, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
wow Doric you dark horse he sure gets around lol Zachariah Zuan. 14:33, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Is Salma a decendant? Because of the sayings of the Shining Blades in de Blade Camp? --Mann Of Strength 11:14, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
All Tyrian royalty is. So yeah, Salma is. Albeit she's an illegitimate child. -- Konig/talk 11:36, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
The way Doric is the original king all royalty of Tyria descends from, he might be a reference to Charlemagne (Charles the Great), since he's believed to be the ancestor of most/all European royalty (and Tyria is mostly influenced by European medieval culture). But I guess the "ancient ancestry" is a common theme for any royal line so Doric may be a general reference to that. Razor39999 00:40, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
I think it is general. Just like the Primeval Kings ruled over all Elona at one time, Doric ruled over all of Tyria and the canthan emperor ruled over all of Cantha (including Kurzicks and Luxons) at one time. -- Konig/talk 03:32, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
