Speculations[edit]

There is also a collector item in Resplendant Makkun which is called Nesting Material, these were all added recently and seem to be linked somehow. Current speculation is the egg hatches into a Moa Bird mini pet. Dancing Gnome 07:22, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

they are saying at the moment to that they do hatch somewere in GW EN,, untill then id say keep watching the page The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pijltje (talk • contribs) 19:27, 27 August 2007 (UTC).

Who is they? Is it an official comment from A-Net? I hope they hatch customised to prevent peopel from selling them. Dancing Gnome 11:02, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
So far we have new:

Boiled egg[edit]

Quote: Bringing an egg to the waters of Mourning Veil Falls in Cantha will change the Moa Egg into a Hardened Moa Egg.
LOL, so we get to boil the egg hu? I wonder who's breakfast we're making :P DBZVelena | (Talk page) User DBZVelena sig.jpg 18:19, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Herring[edit]

There is a collector in Prophecy who now gives players the Herring item for 5 bog scale fins. The collector is Gruhn the Fisher. This is beginning to remind me of the Sprite Darter Hatchling mini pet quest in World of Warcraft. You ran all over the world doing parts of quests and in the end you needed to kill a bunch of wolves to get food for the hatchling before you were able to hatch it. It's also worth noting another NPC seems to have been added around the same time Katharine. She doesn't say anything of great interest or relevence but all the other events seem to be related somehow, maybe she is too. Dancing Gnome 11:11, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

solution??[edit]

readed this @ guru

Very close everyone. You are missing one small item from presearing ascalon ...

Drop: Nest, Hardened Egg, Volcanic Rock, Herring (for baby to snack on), and TAPESTRY SHRED to allow the incubation to proceed.

Anyone confirm this? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.108.141.67 (talk • contribs) 23:57, 28 August 2007 (UTC).
I think this was an idea rather than real, I am pretty sure no solution to hatching has been found yet. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 22:16, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
I wont be surprised though if that is along the lines of what the items are for though. If you read one of the guru threads someone linked to a screenshot and in it is a baby black moa miniature. Of course that easily could be a player mod or photoshop, but it would be neat if it were real! We can only wait and see.. - BeX iawtc 22:18, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
The main flaw in the idea being presented (that what we are missing is a tapestry shed) is that we know the egg has something to do with GW:EN, so we likely need an item from there in order to proceed. Erasculio 22:22, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
No Luck with the Tapastry Shred, it says its a "Quest Item" anyways, none of the others indicate Quest Item. I'd have to agree, GW:EN will probably help us put this puzzle together. --Smitty00 22:45, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Just a couple more days til GWEN comes out, and all will be revealed. - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 23:43, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
I just know they'll love the tasty warm egg salad herring sandwiches you cooked up! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:04, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Shhhh.... now now Gaile, don't be giving it all away like that! Besides, you left out the best part! The sweet Juni berry and Red Iris flower chutney with a nice tall glass of Iboga fruit juice. :D - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 00:54, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
I do believe you are taunting us. ;) Fenyx 00:56, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

(reset indent) oh now... I can't believe that you are mentioning more and more thing. Now, you're just making things up and leading us astray. And ohmygod if it's a sammich, I'll be so upset!! Estoldt 03:49, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Lol, that "mini Black Moa" was just one of the devs transforming into a Raven. --Santax (talk · contribs) 08:18, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

If it's a Red Iris Flower we need, no need to go back to pre searing. There is a small area just to the western side of the Eye of the North outpost wall that has green land untouched by tundra which just so happens to have some Red Iris Flowers ripe for the picking. Having said that, you get Gwen from inside that outpost so you may need Gwen in your party to activate something. Hmmm, is this the place to incubate... --Phoenix Locklear 13:34, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Gaile and Linsey you taunt me so....

Speculation[edit]

moa egg= moa minipet
hardened moa egg= Black moa minipet
Frozen(?) moa egg= White moa minipet
Stoldt 08:16, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

can be possible

would be cool if its treu :D Pijltje 10:06, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

That is certainly a possibility.. GW:EN (Far Shiverpeaks) is icy and has white Moa's, the Black Moa spawns relatively close to the falls used to harden the Moa Egg.

Not sure how much of this make sense. But it does strike me that other than a mini pet of some sort, Anet might be giving us a "Mount" of some sort. I know mounts are of little practical use (except asethetical) in GW, but seeing how the new 18 dungeons in GW:EN couldn't be "ported" directly, a kind of travel support does increases the fun and is inline with GW's directive of minimising unnecessary time-sinks. Anyway, this is pretty far-fetched. --LundFoci 18:12, 29 August 2007 [UTC]

red moa = burnt moa egg (just the right incubation period but put it near/in a fire source) just outside perdition rock comes to mind. You can walk on that fire inside that crevice.
blue moa = wet moa egg (just the right incubation period but put it near/in a water source) waterfalls, lakes, etc.
yellow moa = not enough care (not letting it incubate enough)
green moa = not enough care and put it near a water source
orange moa = not enough care and put it near a fire source
purple moa = too much care (letting it incubate too long)
brown moa = sandy moa (just the right incubation period but put near/in an earth source)
Have an option of inspecting the nest. If you look too early, you get a yellow moa. "It has been 6 days. Would you like to inspect the nest?" If yes-- "Congratulations! You are the proud owner of a Yellow Moa!" Maybe a just right incubation period of 7 calendar days. So the earlier you inspect the nest, the brighter the color. The longer you let it incubate, the darker the color. --Phoenix Locklear 14:20, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Sounds like breeding Chocobo's in Final Fantasy VII :) --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 17:57, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Zho's Journal[edit]

8/30/07 I apologize for not being familiar with the process of adding things here properly. I received a "Zho's Journal" from Zho after defeating her in the Norn Tournament. The icon in my inventory is named "Zho's Journal". It says "Double-click to read" and it is customized to my character. Upon double-clicking it, a book opens up on the screen to a Table of Contents. There are 13 pages (or chapters, if you will). You can turn the pages by clicking on the edge of the page and dragging the page across to the lef tor right, depending on which way you are going (the library rat in me is ecstatic). The information within is quite extensive. Already I've found mention of obtaining the egg, hardening it in the waters of Echovald Forest, learning the proper way to transport an egg, keeping it warm with volcanic rocks, and obtaining a "Egg Chest" from the Turtle Clan leader. Minister Cho's estate is mentioned also. The last pages mention berries and herring, among other things. If I weren't so blasted tired right now, I'd transcribe the whole thing for you. As it is, someone will most likely beat me to it by the time I wake up in the morning. So, for you who simply cannot wait, go defeat Zho in the Norn Tournament in Gunner's Hold (I think that was the name?). Again I apologize for not knowing how to add this properly. If I am grievously in error here, please remove this. Khaeti. 72.235.4.162 09:17, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I already added this to the Talk page on Katherine, but since it kind of relates to my post above, I thought I'd add it here as well. If you talk to Katherine now (located in Gyala Hatchery Explorable), she will offer to craft for you an "Incubator Kit". I'm thinking this may be the Egg Chest? Of course, Katherine isn't going to do this for free. =/ The required materials are 50 Spiritwood Planks and 10 Steel Ingots, and the cost is 5,000 gold. Now I *really* need to go to bed. Darn this addictive game. Khaeti.72.235.4.162 09:47, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

so if we read the journal we are getting cleus? Pijltje 11:09, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I'd rather call it detailed instructions on what to do with the egg, how to get an Incubator Kit, etc. ;) Xelonir 11:31, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Black Moa Chick[edit]

Yes, it's true! You have to get all six items, put them into the crafted container, then get blasted by the furnace in Sorrow's Furnace. User Thervold Black Moa Screenshot.jpg
