Talk:Operation: Crush Spirits
I managed to do this in 9 minutes with a PUG...Once. --ScorpDeception63 23:42, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- Just took me 28 minutes H/H although a lot of that was going back to get them because sometimes when they ressed they just waited at the shrine until I went back to collect them. Lyra Valo 00:01, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- In HM: Bring 2 a mixture of either eles and rangers for your heroes, 2 warrior hench, 1 ranger hench, 1 ele hench. Use the sides of the map to avoid enemy groups and you can do it in 8-9 minutes without other people. Works for both sides =D --Silven 01:32, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

How to run it[edit]
- PuG up 8 players, run straight down the path you start on but avoid all the enemies and just let them attack the allied NPCs until you get to the beacon with the two guards.
- Approach behind the beacon and from the side and take out the first champion with concentrated fire, everyone should use ice fort at the start since he can take someone down before they can cast it if they react slow. He should do down by the time your ice forts wear off.
- Go around the back but stay fairly close to the beacon or you'll hit the end of the level and get teleported until you're in range of the beacon and just out of range of the remaining champion.
- Take out the beacon.
- Run towards the beacon on the other side, you will need to kill two generals to make it past, same tactic as the champion but they d
ie faster. If the second isn't dead by the time your ice forts wear off, the firsts death will have recharged the skill so you can just use it again.
- When you get to the beacon take out the champion closest to you.
- Then just kill the beacon, if you stay back as much as possible the spawns shouldn't aggro you. If they do, run toward the edge of the map and it will teleport you away (and to safety) for going out of bounds. Then just wait for the spawns to move away and finish off the beacon.
There's also a way to run it where you split up and each group goes for one beacon, thereby skipping the part where you have to kill the generals, but that only takes like 10 seconds anyways and you run the risk of one of the groups failing since they only have half the firepower. 75.73.123.166 04:15, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Quest info[edit]
Hey wiki people! I wanted to give you some info to help make making this page a bit easier:
Overview/Getting to the battle.
This format is an epic snowball fight between the gods. Balthazar has joined forces with Grenth and Melandru has joined forces with Dwayna to make this a 2v2 fight. Players need to speak with the special NPCs in either Lion’s Arch or Kamadan to get the “quest” added to their log. This is not a quest in the true form as it cannot be turned in; this is simply there to direct players to Temple of the Ages or the Chantry of Secrets to enter the battle.
Once they have the “quest” they can /kneel in front of either the statue of Balthazar or the Statue of Melandru in the Temple of the Ages or Chantry of Secrets. The NPC that pops up will send you to their respective side of the battle. Players can fight for either Melandru or Balthazar. Choosing one does not make it impossible for you to go back later and do the other, and both are repeatable as many times as you want to do them.
Inside the battle, you are attempting to fight your way to and destroy the opposing god’s Beacons. Which I will explain below…
Mechanics
Each god has a Beacon that spawns monsters every 30 seconds. These monsters charge towards the two opposing gods’ statues, engaging any hostile NPCs/players they encounter along the way.
Champions In addition to these spawned forces, each god also has 4 “Champions” that are extremely powerful, stationary monsters that stand on the path leading towards their gods’ beacon. In addition to doing a ton of damage, these Champions also grant a special, non-removable buff to their respective Beacon. For each Champion alive, the respective beacon gets +3 health regeneration and 10 damage reduction. Which means if all 4 Champions are still alive, their respective beacon has +12 health regeneration (capped at +10) and 40 damage reduction, making it very hard to kill them.
Note: The damage reduction is actually a "heal on hit." So for each champion alive, every time the beacon takes damage they are healed for 10.
Generals The two opposing Beacons also spawn Generals every few spawns. (In Normal Mode, 1 every 6 mobs in Hard Mode, 1 every 4 mobs) These Generals are slightly weaker versions of Champions that are not stationary—they will charge towards your beacons along with the rest of the Beacon-spawned army. Unlike Champions, they do not give any buff to the Beacons; they just march towards your base and kill a bunch of stuff along the way.
Note: Only enemy beacons summon generals. These exist to balance the fact that your team has 8 humans on it, so friendly Beacons do not spawn generals. If anyone asks, you can make them feel special by saying they are the generals of their chosen god!
Beacons Beacons are stationary and do not attack. They have a large amount of health and, as stated above, will receive a passive buff from any Champions of their particular god that are still alive. Destroying a Beacon prevents forces from that associated god from spawning for the remainder of the battle. In addition, any forces of yours who would normally charge towards the now-dead beacon will be diverted to the remaining enemy beacon, doubling the number of NPCs charging towards that beacon. Destroying both beacons is the goal of both teams, and serves as the victory/defeat condition.
Objectives and Rewards
The primary objective for this quest is to kill the two opposing beacons. Doing so prior to your beacons falling will give you the “base reward” for either Normal Mode or Hard Mode, depending on which you are in. In addition to this, we have a number of bonus objectives that will give you additional rewards. Here is a table breaking down how rewards are distributed:
Normal Mode Base Victory reward 5 Wintersday Gifts, 5000 xp, 500gold, 5 Frosty Tonics
Hard Mode Base Victory Reward 10 Wintersday Gifts, 7500 xp, 750gold, 10 Frosty Tonics
Destroy all enemy Champions +5 gifts, +5 Tonics
Complete in <10min +5 gifts, +5 Tonics
Complete in 10-20min +3 gifts, +3 Tonics
Complete in 20-30min +1 gift, +1 Tonic
Enjoy!

- Off-topic, but that sounds a LOT like DotA[1]. 01:51, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- DotA... A 4-letter word... I HATE that game. Its the same damn thing over and over and over and over. Farm creep and kill the tower. Seriously, how can people play that? --Musha 02:24, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Guild Wars... Its the same damn thing over and over and over and over. Farm drop and kill the boss. Seriously, how can people play that? But in all seriousness, people play it because it's fun. At least, that's why I play it. 76.68.127.36 02:38, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- That's the other thing... People who play DotA are SO defensive about their DotA. It's like they KNOW it sucks and are trying to justify playing it. --Musha 02:44, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, if you don't like it, that's cool. I was just answering your question in a vague and sarcastic way. 76.68.127.36 02:46, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- I see Andrew put the notes up despite asking the TK to go around and explain... @Musha: Some people like grind, there's no explanation for it. Typically, they're found in McDonalds (jk). -- Konig/talk 12:20, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Wow, so much vitriol. How about you play what you like, how you like, and STFU about the rest? It'll make the world a better place for everyone, and isn't that what we all want? Kumbayah, friends. Kumbayah. Chill. It'll be oooookayyyyy.... Kruhljak 19:24, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Feels like a DotA ripoff tbh, not that it's a bad thing, although I'd love to see this being introduced as a pvp arena similar to Fort Aspenwood / Jade Quarry. - Ander01 11:42, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Farming[edit]
Should it be noted in either the Notes or Trivia sections that this quest is (so far) being farmed quite often for Wintersday Gifts and Mischievous Tonics? Nym 03:31, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- No point in it. Snowball Dominance is also probably being farmed. Along with every other repeatable quest. That's always the case. I don't think the others have such notes. -- Konig/talk 12:34, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, just making sure. Nym 17:43, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
Moral Boost[edit]
Since it keeps getting removed, It should be noted you get a moral boost if your allied Champions die as well, effectively recharging your skills. I don't believe the mechanic is intended to be this way and is thus, Broken! Deshiba 13:25, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
Allied generals grants you MB's as well, quite useful but meh Beleeth 16:54, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Yeah...Your own elite troops dying really shouldn't give you morale.71.194.87.164 14:20, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- This is similar to Veldrunner Centaur, an allied boss in the Kodonur Crossroads mission that provides a morale boost when it dies and skills can be captured from it. --Silver Edge 03:24, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Quest is pretty lame.[edit]
It seems easier doing it from Dwayna/Melandru side. I'm always fighting two damn groups of Snowmen because my Eternals split long before they do.
- Depending on what you do the quest for, this way can be a lot faster. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 02:20, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
~6 mins with 3 heroes +1 henchie only whereas it takes me between 7 to 8 and a half to do it with these 3 guys and henchie on dwanyas side Beleeth
Ice Fort and Yellow Snow bugged[edit]
In this quest Ice Fort is not making me immune to conditions and Yellow Snow not taking them off either. :( Ramei Arashi 22:24, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
Forts just prevent damage, not health degen or conditions, and yellow snow removes 1 condition, so maybe you had more than 1 and that's why you thought it wasn't working.Beleeth 05:36, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure it Ice Forts description says immune to damage and conditions. ends if you move. however, blizzard seems to bypass the condition part. I've never encountered any problem with yellow snow.174.100.25.69 10:26, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
fastest speed?[edit]
What was everyone's fastest speed? I managed to get to 1:52 but supposedly someone in my alliance got 1:46
